The War of Extinction

Chapter 13: Story Time

We had killed 15 monsters and each of them gave us materials to craft weapons or armors. We got 47000 credits for the materials from the market in which Dawn transferred 23000 credits to my account.

We decided to sell the crystals to the crafters in the town at a low price which will help them a little.

I wish I could do this often, but it depends on the missions we get from our handler in the Hunter's Guild, uncle Jon.

Dawn took the crystals with her as it was her idea to sell them to the crafters which I agreed without any hesitation. I wanted to be with her when she sells them, but she wanted to do it alone.

This is one thing that I am starting to like in her. The willingness to help the people who are in need, no matter how small it is, she has the heart to do it.

She dropped me at my home before going to sell the crystals. We could have kept the materials required to create the armors and weapons, but we couldn't as we need the credits to invest in potion purchase.

I have already used 2 of the 4 energy potions I purchased in the market. With the remaining 2, I have 3 energy potions and 4 healing potions.

I used 2 healing potions to heal the injuries I got in today's hunt. With the remaining potions, I can only go on hunting missions only for a day of two with assistance from Dawn.

If everything goes well, I don't have to use any of my potions in tomorrow's extermination mission. The company Hammerand which I will be going with will give each volunteers potions of energy and healing.

It will be more than enough for us to exterminate the Steel Teeth Rat monsters, if there are only 100 rats as predicted by the higher officials of the company.

But if they are wrong, we will have to face a swarm of steel teeth rats which will be hard for 30 hunters to exterminate. Yes, it will be hard, but not impossible.

The energy I use will be absorbed back from my surroundings, but it will be slow and I will have to wait for more than 2 hours before the energy is fully absorbed from low to high.

I checked my Status to see all my attributes have increased.

I took a shower and went to the kitchen to see if I can cook a simple meal for my parents and my sister Zaana. I have learned how to cook when I was 10 years old as it will be helpful when I have to go on missions that will prevent me from getting back home.

I cooked the meal as I have come back earlier than expected and it has been a long time since I have cooked anything. I just wanted to know if I still have what it takes to cook a simple, but a nourishing, tasty meal for my family.

I was cooking the meal when I heard the notification sound 'BEEP' from my hunter watch.

It was a message from my informing a transfer of 10000 credits to my account. I continued cooking after checking the notification. With this I have 34000 credits in my account.

I again received a message from Dawn which had the image of trade confirmation for the monster crystals for 20000 credits. I didn't want her to send it as I know she is trustworthy, but she insisted on sending it after the trade.

My parents and Zaana came home by 6:30 pm and were surprised to see me, as I told them this morning I will be coming home late.

We ate the snacks I prepared together with me sharing my experience of the day with them. They were initially surprised when I told them, I killed the metal tusk boar with my new skill.

They know how strong and powerful it is. They have seen me training it yesterday, but never considered it to become a system recognized skill.

When I was sharing about the hunt I did today, Dawn came in and joined us who was welcomed by my parents and my sister Zaana.

I was surprised at first, but then I realised she was invited by my sister to share her experiences along with me which became even more interesting after she joined the story telling.

I was surprised at how she said the details of each and every move we made and how it was vital in our victory. I noticed her looking at me everytime she said something about me.

She looked happy and proud every time she said about me and my level of contribution in our missions and hunt.

She was almost about to cry when she shared the moment when I save her by taking the attack of the water turtle when fighting with her brother's team.

My sister Zaana patted her shoulder and tried to comfort her from the depression she is getting into, but it made it worse than she expected.

Dawn may look strong and rough on the outside, but if we come to know her, she is a kind and loving person.

When Dawn was telling the story of our missions, I focused on how to increase the attributes to increase my combat power.

I am happy when I notice my attributes have increased and I am good at it. Now I can fight harder and longer. I can work my way up easily if I continue improving my attributes at such speed.

But it is easier said than done. My difficulty in improving my attributed have started already. If it is easy to increase, I would have reached 15 in all my attributes which is the maximum attributes one can reach in Low-F grade.

I have to try harder to increase my attributes to the maximum before I think of level-up. I don't want to be like others focusing on 1 or 2 attributes, but increase all my attributes.
