The War of Extinction

We continued doing our fake hunts for the rest of the day fighting the robot bears and the next day. Our schedule was simple, we patrol a day while training for 2 days and take a day off to rest.

We continued the same schedule for a month. We can only see a few improvements in our fighting styles as myself and Snowfa started to fight together. She has learned a lot in the past few days with the help of Jack.

I am still not sure why I am in this team as both Jack and Snowfa use blunt weapons while I use a sword. There is only one thing that is common between us and that is our element 'Ice'. I can only learn how to use it efficiently from him.

But I still stayed in the team, just to fulfill the promise I have made to her father. I don't want to be a person who will break his promise for his own gains. I focused mostly on defense and changed my fighting style a little to focus on attack and defense at the same time.

I have started performing the battle exercise and able to perform 3rd move while training. It has helped me to increase my power when performing it, but I will have to see real fight soon, as it will be the do or die situations which will make us push our limits and break them.

We have not faced any animals in our patrol which makes me a little worried as Snowfa is yet to fight any real animals and is fighting only robots till now during the training.

I also become an unofficial scout in my team after telling them I can sense the surrounding 20 meters due my original element 'Air'. Jack acted as the leader of our team when we are in patrol and for Snowfa. I am not sure what role she will fit in.

Tomorrow, we will be welcoming new recruits to our team and will be training together henceforth. This will increase our team strength from 2 to 6. Jack is feeling a little stressed as none of them have any relatives in Hammerand.

I can see it in his face. Training 2 of us is okay for him as we are having same element, but now he has to train 4 more and as per the information we got, they are having different elements which is going to be a trouble for him.

We are surprised to know we are his 1st training batch as he has just got the Trainer job and that is because of his well balanced fighting techniques. Now he has to not only train us, but will also train 4 other kids who are in Low-F grade like us.

Being a trainer, he is not only responsible for our training, also for our safety when we go out on patrols or missions, which I was taking care till now as there were only 2 trainees including myself.

As per the information he received earlier, the people who is join us are Sylas: Air, Mara: Fire, Lucksonlay: Rock and Clevis: Lightning. It is a good thing Mara is coming in as it would have been awkward if Snowfa is the only girl in the entire team.

We will welcome our team tomorrow morning like how we were welcomed by our trainer on our 1st day. I could see Snowfa's dark black eyes shining bright to know there will be another girl in the team. Her fair skin and black hair also showed the happiness she has in her heart.

On the contrary to her happiness, I could see stress in Jack's grey eyes. His fair skin with muscular firm body and the silver hair also reflects his stress. Snowfa might not have noticed it, but I was able to see it clearly.

The next day I reach the office by 8:00 AM to find when Snowfa reaches the office and also to see our team's recruits when they are coming into the office for the 1st time after their recruitment. I am surprised to see Snowfa entering the office by 8:15 AM with her usual smile and jolliness.

We start talking about the recruits and how Jack will change the training method he has used for us as we will be having multiple element users in our team now. I am eager to know about it as the training will help us to know our fighting style and we can create plans of attack and defense depending on it.

When we were talking, Jack also joined us and when we tried to get the details or at least hints of our new training schedule, he just said it will be the same as 2 days training, 1 day patrol and 1 day off. But no specific information or a hint about the training.

I see a group of 3 boys and a girl of our age entering the office by 8:58 AM. One of the boy is muscular with brown skin while the other 2 boys looks identical with lean body, just a little muscular than me with dark skin.

The girl looks fair skinned and muscular like 1st boy and she can go toe to toe with him if she wants to. I am a little sad looking at this as I am the skinny boy in this team and my skin is darker than the others. I feel like they all know each other, maybe they all attended the interview on the same day or they might have know each other before that.

Our trainer is the 1st to greet and welcome them to the team. Later he introduced us as their fellow teammates and tells them the training will be difficult to handle for them. I am surprised to hear that as I have never felt any difficulty in the training we have been taking till now.

I hope he is just trying to intimidate the kids as they are not showing much respect to the trainer which he should be receiving from his trainees. One thing which I liked about him is, he doesn't mix personal with official work.

He treats us like friends outside. When it comes to company related, he will not show any deviation and follow the rules by the book and doesn't breaks it.
