Evan had told me that Azure did an experiment to create a very powerful child, but I did not know there were these many experiments.

"You," he said, his middle finger pointing at me, "are called the successful experiment."

"Stop pointing at me with your middle finger," I muttered, pushing it from my face.

"Now, as I said, he wants to destroy those doors because there are rumors of his heart being damaged. It's not a piece of known information, as you can already guess since some dark mages will not work for him anymore. Although he has a lot of power, remember, now he is not the strongest one. "Can't you understand the amount of power you and Azure possess?" he grumbled, gritting his teeth. It seemed he did not like to acknowledge that I had a lot of power, but since it was the truth, he had to. "Those dark mages are nothing to you. That's the reason. Azure can't use too much power. He can create a barrier around the doors, but you know, he can't use all his power.

Creating that strong barrier requires too much power. So, right now, since there is a rumor, he wants to take care of the doors first."

"I have two more questions," I said. "First of all, who exactly controlled Dem's mind? It wasn't Azure. Was it his mother? Then, what's the actual story of her?"

"What's your second question?"

"Aren't you going to answer the first one?" I asked, disappointed.

"Later. Second one first."

"How exactly are you planning to help me? Please don't stop before making complete sense," I said, knowing well that he was the type of person to do so. It pissed me off every time he did that.

"First of all, destroy those doors. Make it seem like you are working for him. Do it as quickly as possible. I know it will be hard but take very few breaks. The sooner you do it, the sooner you will be able to leave," he said. "Since Azure trusts me about being on his side, I can make way for you to escape."

"Can you?"

I wondered, what if he was Azure's side of reality? It was not impossible. Something told me he was not, but I could not shake off the possibility of a betrayal.

"Take this chance, Blue," he said as if he could read my mind. "You won't regret it."

Even if I did not do anything, my life would be ruined. I wanted to take the risk, but I also was not ready to trust him completely.

"Alright," I sighed. "Three days. He is going to give you two weeks to finish the task. But do it within three days."

"Don't I need to recharge?"

"I will give you something to recharge quickly," he said.

"How will I know you are not giving me poison?"

"I would have done that already if I wanted to," he said.

"I see…," I mumbled, shuddering at the coldness of his voice. "That said, my power is not awakened fully. How will I even destroy the door tomorrow?"

"Is it not?"

"Hm?"

He gave me a grin and suddenly stood up. He slowly approached me and took my hand. Before I knew it, he took the bracelet off.

There was no time to think about using my power to escape. There was barely any time to think of anything else as a burning pain erupted from my inside.

It felt like my heart was on fire.

"Ugh! It hurts…! It is burning! My heart is burning!"

"That's because mana is overflowing in your body. It will get better soon," he said and pushed me by my shoulder on the bed. "Lie down. That will spread the pain throughout your body."

The pain was unbearable, even worse than the branding. Even so, I could not help but wonder when my power was awakened. By now, it was clear no one else but Azure could awaken my power. But when did he do it? Did he do it when I was sleeping?

"The branding is not just a mark. It is how our powers are awakened," he explained. "Your has been awakened since then. To use your power, we need to let your body get accustomed to the power first, but the bracelet was stopping that. So, I have taken it off. You can't use your power by the way because you ate the potion Azure made.

It is a potion that stops you from using your power temporarily, but won't stop the process of your body getting accustomed to your power."

It was surprising how I heard every single word even though I was in immense pain. He put a piece of clothing in my mouth, mumbling my voice was annoying. So, I could not even make any sound. I wanted to ask him why he did not tell me beforehand. I could have prepared myself.

"As for why I haven't told you beforehand, I actually wanted to surprise you," he stated nonchalantly.

I truly wanted to choke him.

The pain lasted for a long time. Cyan just leisurely sat on the bed, humming freely. I wanted to kick him, or do something to cause him pain.

"It's not like you are gonna die," he said with a shrug every time I glared at him. "These days, at least try to eat well. You need energy for your power to be restored quickly."

I did not think that would be possible. The way my reaction towards food had become, it did not seem like I would be able to eat properly in a long time.

The pain was a lot less now. I could at least breathe properly. He took the piece of cloth from my mouth.

"You have quite amazing pain tolerance."

'Well, duh, I have been exposed to pain for a long time, thanks to my shitty family. My pain tolerance was bound to increase.'
