There's definitely something wrong with this murder mystery game

Chapter 192 Green Mist_2

...

...

Three hours had passed since the Five-star Hotel was locked down.

On the bustling city streets, rickshaws came and went, and the pitch-black night, coupled with the heavily guarded army troops, couldn't completely halt the enthusiasm of revelry, as faint streetlights illuminated the closely-packed buildings.

A figure hid beside a small vendor's stall not far from the city gates, looking at the formidable wall and frowning slightly.

It was indeed an impenetrable bulwark—the city gates and the walls were built so tough and smooth that there was no possibility to climb from any side.

What's more, there were plenty of guards both inside and outside the city; on his way here, he had already encountered numerous soldiers violently searching every house.

Just then, another shadow silently ran past from around the corner of an alley.

The aide-de-camp alertly looked in that direction.

Upon seeing the gesture made by the newcomer, he relaxed his guard slightly and slipped into Black Alley.

"I've got the thing, but I can't get out, so I'm asking for your help," the aide-de-camp said, showing the wrapped map to his companion.

"I can get the brothers to create chaos on the other side, but I reckon it'll only draw their attention for a short time," the newcomer spoke in a deep voice.

"Half a minute is enough," the aide-de-camp replied.

His stealth skills were not bad, but if the eyes of a few hundred enemies were upon him, chances were slim to retire in one piece.

The newcomer nodded and was about to leave when the aide-de-camp stopped him.

"Wait, can you divide your men into two groups?"

The aide-de-camp spoke earnestly, "Have one group create a distraction inside the city, and another feign a breakout at the southeast corner of the city gate."

Upon hearing this, the newcomer paused abruptly.

He fixed his gaze on the aide-de-camp for a long while, and a firm resolve clashed in their eyes, gradually turning the surrounding atmosphere heavy and cold.

Finally, the newcomer bowed his head, "It's possible!"

The aide-de-camp looked remorseful, "I'm sorry."

The other shook his head, placing his fingers solemnly over his heart and affirming, "For the glory of the Radiant!"

After speaking, he turned and departed, quickly disappearing at the end of Black Alley.

The aide-de-camp hid his emotions and watched his retreating figure with an unfathomable look, then quietly waited in the shadows for an opportunity to leave.

It wasn't long before a commotion arose outside.

They had begun their operation.

Soon after, an explosion sounded throughout the district, a squad of soldiers quickly ran across the street, apparently going to provide reinforcements there.

Yet, while the chaos inside the district had not subsided, violent explosions erupted near the city gate, followed by concentrated gunfire—the gate was under direct attack.

A soldier yelled, "Hold the gate, it's a feint by the enemy!"

The main street near the city gate was noisy and chaotic; pedestrians who had been walking and vending were startled, each seeking refuge in nearby buildings.

Seizing the moment, the aide-de-camp blended into the crowd and, shrouded by darkness, rapidly made his way toward a breach at the western side of the city gate.

Most of the soldiers had been drawn to the fierce battle to the southeast, and only a few soldiers remained on the western wall. When the aide-de-camp approached, the glinting Finger Knife was already in his hand.

The city wall was brightly lit, and the moon's glare only made the scene above more visible.

Having swiftly taken care of the soldiers guarding the staircase, the aide-de-camp picked up a rifle and ran up the wall, his footsteps fast and urgent, yet silent.

By the time the soldiers on the wall realized what was happening, bullets had already been lodged in their heads. However, this also meant the other soldiers quickly turned their guns in his direction.

The aide-de-camp hadn't opted for a melee stealth attack because he knew once he was up on the wall, exposure was inevitable.

There was simply nowhere to hide!

So the next best option was to dispatch the guards as quickly as possible before soldiers from the southeast could come and encircle him!

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

The aide-de-camp, not even bothering to aim, quickly emptied his magazine. Some soldiers were starting to react, but as they did, their heads burst open at the instant he fired.

Clang!

The emptied cartridges hit the wall, making distinctive rattling noises.

After rolling to dodge a barrage of shots, the aide-de-camp picked up another rifle from the ground and fired a burst at several soldiers running toward him!

Then, he stepped onto the wall and leaped downward!

He drove the Finger Knife he was clutching deep into the wall to mitigate the shock of falling, and its sharp blade struck flashes of light against the hard steel wall.

The western wall was some distance from the city gate, and visibility was bound to be affected by darkness despite the bright lights at night.

But a figure sparking with fire, hanging on the wall, was still quite conspicuous.

The soldiers outside the city, not understanding what had happened, didn't need to; all they had to do was to attack upon spotting someone trying to leave the city in an unconventional method!

Atop the city walls, soldiers who had rushed over aimed their guns past.

Outside the city, soldiers who had noticed this scene also raised their gun muzzles.

The aide calculated the distance to the ground, and amidst the hail of exploding bullets, he suddenly stepped hard on the steel city wall, propelling his body towards the distant ground like a cannonball!

Boom!

He smashed onto the ground, rolled over once with his back hitting the ground to dissipate the excess impact, then the aide quickly sprinted towards the woods ahead.

This entire ambush took less than half a minute!

However, at the very top of the wall, a sentry with a sniper rifle aimed at him in the darkness of the night.

Outside the city, in the boundless darkness, the sniper locked onto the figure quick as a flickering shadow, squinted slightly, and pulled the trigger without hesitation!

"Whoosh——"

The sound of the bullet cutting through the air came first.

The aide suddenly widened his eyes, instinctively twisted his body, but the incoming sniper bullet was a step faster than his reaction!

The bullet tore through the uniform, through skin and flesh, and after passing the sinew and bones, it rushed into the ground behind with blood in its wake!

This impact also threw the aide off balance, he stumbled and fell to the ground, but he quickly regained his senses and continued to run into the deeper darkness without stopping.

In the guardhouse, the sniper squinted through the telescope, attempting to catch the moving shadow in the misty darkness.

In the end, he let out a regretful sigh, "He's really impressive."

...

"Damn, that's seriously impressive."

In the woods, the aide ran while tearing a strip of cloth from his thin undershirt, tightly wrapping it around the arm that had been shot through.

To be able to accurately target his quickly moving body in the inadequately lit night, that sniper was truly formidable, and he admired him for that!

If the snipers positioned outside the Five-star Hotel all had that level of skill, he feared he wouldn't have been able to sneak out.

Speaking of the hotel, he wondered if that spy who insisted on staying to die had been caught yet.

Once he got back to the organization, he might as well add the man's name directly to the KIA list.

It would save them the trouble of potentially developing a "save the comrade" side mission later on.

After running a considerable distance without taking a break, the aide gradually slowed down to ascertain his current position.

Doctor Kong's time to steal the map was known to the organization, so there were people arranged outside the city to meet him.

But to avoid exposure, this distance was a bit far.

He had been injured earlier and couldn't afford another battle, so to prevent being chased down by pursuers and causing more trouble, he had just run straight ahead without stopping.

Now in the deep mountains and forests, everything around was shrouded in darkness.

"Tsk, let me see first."

The aide took out the terrain map, recalling in his mind how long he had run since leaving the city gate.

With his speed, he figured he must have run at least a couple hundred miles by now.

"So, I should be here now, about thirty miles off from the rendezvous point?" The aide frowned with a headache; he had actually overshot his target.

What else could he do?

Turn back, of course!

The wound on his arm had stopped bleeding, the aide rested for a while to recover his strength, then started heading towards the organization's meeting point.

But after just walking a short distance, he abruptly stopped, warily tensing up all over.

Could it be?

Had the crazed force of District 13 chased him even here?!

The aide hid behind the bushes, scrutinizing the dark area ahead of him; there were mountains on both sides of this rather low valley.

And the road ahead gave off an indistinct foggy appearance, so much so that even the bright moonlight from the sky could not penetrate that area.

In the silent darkness, it seemed as if many people were present, with the illusionary glimmer of firelight flickering among them.

This situation, out here in a mountain suburb, was like seeing ghosts.

But the aide was not the least bit daunted; he calmly scouted for quite some time until he was sure that these were not the pursuers coming after him.

It looked more like a highly trained team stationed here.

Suddenly, the aide remembered some information.

Only the Green Mist Legion of District 10, known for their concealment techniques, would dare to station their troops so close to District 13!

So, why were the Green Mist Legion here?
