Chapter 52: Catching up (2)
Chapter Fifty-Two
"Who? Who is she engaged to?" Did Asli not care to inform him? If she knew she was engaged, why did she beg him to pleasure her? Yes, she was under the influence but why didn't she rush to her fiancé's place but instead went to hide at her warehouse?
"The most handsome man I have ever seen." Markus's response almost got Ahmet to order a bomb as he shook him to tell him who he was. "Me."
"I'm gonna shoot you!" He didn't sound playful.
"Her father promised her to me. Right now, you are in my way. If not, she'll make a fine wife." Oh, he was treading on thin lines. He then raised his arms with a laugh to show he was just joking. It took a while for the lover boy to cool off.
"Maxwell and his friends almost harmed her. They added aphrodisiac pills to her water." Ahmet finally mentioned, his voice sounding a little bit scared before masking it. He knew Markus never took things seriously but he would never condone sexual harassment.
"What do you mean?" His voice suddenly turned grave. He nodded to affirm what he heard him say. He also narrated what happened during the meeting.
"That can't be possible. Maxwell ambushed her father and stole his laptop. His father asked her to… Oh, I get it now. The brilliant bit… sorry, woman. This would be like testing myself! I am used to addressing her with ungodly names."
"What do you get now?" Ahmet ignored his latter comment.
"We were supposed to go for this mission together. However, her father called to tell me she was being sent to a different mission. Then, she appeared as a different person and I wondered why.
I intentionally left the scene to let her do whatever she wanted and I realized she took those they were auctioning to a safer place. She took a picture of all the rich men and women who were present and threatened to release the pictures online if they did anything to look into who she could be or send people after those she rescued.
She returned with just a laptop and I wondered why anyone would ambush a Mafia lord without scaring any of his men and himself. She needed to be positioned elsewhere while she operated with a different identity. She couldn't be at two different places at the same time." Markus explained and Ahmet couldn't be more proud of her than he already was.
"Yeah, and she hates to have her ego bruised. She could've asked her men to rescue those women and children. However, she would've gotten criticisms more than you did, from her father." Ahmet couldn't help but tease him in the process.
"I love the part where she is framing Maxwell. Maxwell's father, I learned, is her father's closest friend. She wants to also break the alliance the two old men have. Now, words are out that Maxwell's ear was shot, and that too by Asli. Her father wouldn't care to listen to where and when it happened. It will just confirm her story." They were both… proud.
"I hope that teaches them a lesson. Your woman is smart. I'll give her that!" Markus praised and he didn't bother to correct him when he addressed her as his woman. Markus noticed it but was saving the bigger teasing for later.
"Did you notice anything while you were there? Anything unusual?" They were back to him again.
"Well, she has a nanny. Do you know that all the bosses have their personal cooks? Yes. Asli doesn't eat anyone's cooking except her nanny's." Markus informed and Ahmet's mind instantly went to the time he forced her to eat at the restaurant. No wonder she had a hard time eating the food.
"That's not important news, Markus." He finally spoke.
"Relax, I'm warming up," Markus said with a laugh. It was contagious, Ahmet had no choice but to join.
