Chapter 26: A Doctor Joins The Straw Hats
Finally, Luffy delivered the finishing move. "Gum-Gum Rifle!" he shouted, his arm twisting like a coiled spring before releasing with a thunderous impact. The blow shattered Wapol's armor, sending him flying into the distance.
With Wapol defeated and his men now ice sculptures, the Straw Hats regrouped, their breaths heavy but their spirits high. Chopper stood among them, his heart swelling with pride and gratitude.
"You were amazing, Chopper! And how you transformed like that" Luffy said, clapping him on the back. "Come on, Don't think your flattery will on me stupid fool" Chopper blushed as he stroked his head.
"Wow, so easy" the three thought, seeing Chopper all flustered after a simple compliment.
Lucas, transforming back into his normal form, "Now that that's taken care off... I think we should get back inside" He said, looking at Luffy who started shivering since he was so underdressed.
"Whaaat!" Luffy exclaimed as they made their way back, his eyes wide with surprise.
Chopper explained the reason why he disliked Wapol, revealing that he was actually the king of this island. "So, that guy was your king!" Luffy exclaimed.
"It's not like it matters now," Lucas said, shrugging.
"You're back," Vivi said as they entered the room where the others were gathered.
"Yep, and we've brought back a new member with us," Luffy said, cozying up to the fire.
"How many times do I have to tell you, I'm not joining your crew!" Chopper yelled, his voice full of frustration.
"So, I take it you defeated Wapol?" Kureha asked, looking at them curiously.
"Yeah, why?" Luffy replied.
"Nothing much, I was just interested in a little something of his, that's all," she said as she went and sat down.
After some time had passed, Nami's condition improved significantly. Dalton and some other townspeople arrived at the mountain, appearing to be in a rush to provide support.
"What's Dalton doing here?" Vivi wondered, looking through the window.
They went down to see what was going on. "You... you're all fine," Dalton said, relief evident in his voice.
"Well yeah, why do you ask?" Usopp replied.
"We came here in a rush to support you in facing Wapol," Dalton explained.
"You mean mister tin can guy? Yeah, we and that reindeer took care of him," Luffy said, leaving Dalton and his men gaping in awe.
"Reindeer!? What reindeer?" the townspeople wondered. As they looked around, they saw a reindeer walking beside Kureha.
"Look! It's a monster!" the people freaked out, seeing Chopper.
Dalton eased their fears as he thanked the reindeer for saving the kingdom. "Zoro! What are you doing here?" Usopp exclaimed.
"Probably got lost," Lucas remarked with a smirk.
"I did not get lost. I was just going to do some training when I came across these guys talking about how that tin can guy was headed towards you, so I came along with them," Zoro replied defensively.
"But why is he all banged up?" Usopp asked, pointing at Dalton.
"He was like this when I met them," Zoro replied.
"You don't look well there, Dalton," Kureha said, her voice tinged with concern. "With injuries like that, you shouldn't even be strolling, yet you came here to face off Wapol."
She insisted on taking Dalton inside to get treated. After Kureha finished treating Dalton, Nami approached her to talk about the price for her treatment. As the Straw Hats entered, they heard her asking Dalton if he had come across Wapol's key to the armory.
"I'm sorry, I'm afraid I don't have a clue where the key could be," Dalton answered.
"Key? You mean the key to that big door?" Lucas remarked.
"As a matter of fact, it is. Do you happen to have it?" Kureha replied.
"I may know a way inside, but that's if you'll waive off the bill for treating Nami," Lucas said, a smile playing on his lips.
Kureha smiled for a bit. "If you have the key, then sure," she said.
Lucas grinned happily. "Who needs a key when I have countless aliens," he mumbled silently. He led them to the direction of the armory, striding confidently. "Come on, I'll open it for you."
"So, what are you gonna do?" Usopp asked as the Straw Hats, Kureha, and Chopper stood in front of the door to the armory.
"I wanted to use Lodestar, but now's a good chance to test out my atomic samurai form," Lucas said, leaving the others confused. For a rare moment, Lucas turned the dial of his Omnitrix. It looked like the UAF version but with some differences, and its color was blue. After what looked like fidgeting with his watch for a minute to the others, Lucas finally pushed the dial down, creating a blue glow.
As the light dimmed down, not much of Lucas's appearance had changed; he now resembled a samurai. "A flashy way just to change clothes," Sanji remarked.
Lucas clasped his sword, taking in a deep breath. In a flash, he unsheathed his sword and sheathed it as quickly as he had drawn it. "I definitely don't regret adding this guy," Lucas said as he reverted back to normal.
"What, that's it?" Usopp said, but a moment later, the door crumbled, cut down into fine small blocks. "Opened," Lucas said with a smile.
Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper's eyes sparkled with amazement while the others were silent.
"That's one way to do it," Kureha said, astonished. She broke into laughter. "You truly shocked me there, kid," she said laughingly.
"With skills like that, you'd give Zoro a run for his money," Sanji remarked.
"Chh, and what's that supposed to mean?" Zoro retorted, his voice full of indignation.
Zoro and Sanji's bickering continued as they prepared to leave. "Unlike you, I'm not that easy to replace" Zoro scoffed, his voice dripping with challenge.
Sanji smirked, taking another drag from his cigarette. "At least I don't get lost in my own backyard," he retorted, his eyes narrowing.
"Say that again, you love-cook!" Zoro growled, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword.
"Bring it on, marimo-head," Sanji shot back, ready to spring into action.
Nami watched them with a bemused expression. "You two never change, do you?" she said, shaking her head with a chuckle.
Later that day, the Straw Hats readied to leave, they approached Chopper once again. Luffy, his determination clear, stood in front of Chopper, looking down at the small reindeer.
"Chopper, I meant what I said. We really want you to join our crew," Luffy said, his voice sincere and earnest.
Chopper looked down, his heart heavy with uncertainty. "But... I... I can't just leave," he replied, his voice wavering. He looked at them, his eyes filled with conflicting emotions. He remembered Dr. Hiriluk's words about fulfilling one's dreams and the value of true companionship. "I'm... scared," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
Kureha knelt down, looking Chopper directly in the eyes. "It's okay to be scared sometimes Chopper. I don't want you to stay couped up here forever. Don't worry about us, for what your heart says," she said, her voice warm.
Chopper's eyes filled with tears, the resolve in his heart solidifying. "I... I want to come with you," he said, his voice trembling with emotion. "I want to be a Straw Hat Pirate!"
The crew erupted in cheers, Luffy wrapping his arms around Chopper in a big hug. "Welcome to the crew, Chopper!" he exclaimed, his joy contagious.
As they set off, heading back to their ship, Chopper couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and belonging. He looked back at Kureha, who nodded approvingly. "Go on, Chopper. Make your dreams come true," she said, her voice filled with pride.
The Straw Hats walked towards their ship, with Chopper, now a member of their crew, together, they were ready to face whatever adventures awaited them.
