Volume 1 Chapter 154: Bad News!
“Who does she think she is!”
Ning Chu stormed out of the service center, fuming. “Next time someone dares to tease you, just yell at her! Like you did in the cafeteria that time! Fight back!”
Wen Yang nodded repeatedly, agreeing.
He awkwardly scratched his head, his face still flushed with the redness of an inexperienced guy being flirted with.
Although he’d encountered bold, open girls before, having one he just met directly invite him to a duo match still left him flustered.
Too intense…
As a man, it was impossible not to feel a little tempted.
Luckily, thanks to Ning Chu’s frequent intentional or unintentional flirting and teasing, he’d trained himself to remain cautious around beautiful women.
Ning Chu, marching ahead in a huff, suddenly stopped, almost causing Wen Yang to bump into her.
“What’s wrong?”
Ning Chu didn’t answer. She stood there, staring blankly at her phone, searching for the name “An An” in her document again.
Still nothing!
There wasn’t a single supporting character named An An in the smutty romance story she had written.
So, An An was just an overly forward and open random girl who couldn’t keep her legs closed whenever she saw a handsome guy?
Seriously?! She had been lazy when naming the minor characters in her smutty stories because there were just too many of them. Did this mean An An’s parents had been equally lazy when naming her?
“It’s nothing.” Ning Chu frowned and muttered discontentedly, “What a hassle.”
She could only hope An An had already given up on Wen Yang. Otherwise, dealing with a persistent random girl would be a major headache.
She could handle troublesome supporting characters by using the story’s plot against them. If the character gave up on Wen Yang, she could ensure it with consequences.
But random extras were a different matter.
Who knew what their behavioral logic would be!
She had no way of telling whether a random girl had genuinely given up on Wen Yang or was secretly still obsessed with him.
“Why is it a hassle?”
“Uh… Just don’t go to the service center anymore.”
Wen Yang laughed, half exasperated. “Alright, alright, whatever you say.”
“Of course it matters! That woman flirted with you the moment she met you! She’s definitely not decent!”
Under the eaves, Ning Chu moved closer to Wen Yang, waiting for him to open the umbrella and walk back to the dorms.
This time, they didn’t encounter any female ghosts.
If last time’s visit didn’t result in a ghost appearing, it could be explained that three men together weren’t appealing to the ghost. But this time, with just a pair of a man and a woman, there was no other explanation.
Unless the ghost hadn’t moved into the teaching building yet.
The entire way back, Ning Chu pondered how to deal with clingy random girls, but no matter how hard she thought, she could only decide to play it by ear.
When they got back to the dorm, the electricity was restored.
Wen Yang patted the rain off his shoulders. After the round trip, his clothes were completely soaked.
“I’m going to take a shower.”
“Mm.”
Ning Chu casually locked the door behind him and glanced at her damp pants, still dripping with water.
Although she used to run around her dorm in just her towel after a shower, she was a girl now.
For safety, she waited for Wen Yang to enter the bathroom before dashing to her wardrobe and grabbing a pair of khaki capri pants.
As she undid the button on her jeans, she suddenly turned toward the window facing the hallway.
Better safe than sorry!
She ran over to draw the curtains before waiting for the sound of running water from the bathroom. Only then did she remove her jeans, revealing her smooth, fair legs.
Two months ago, her boxers had been a little loose. Now, they hugged her curvy hips snugly, looking like fitted shorts.
She changed her pants without any incidents.
Returning to her desk, Ning Chu once again searched her smutty story for traces of An An.
Some supporting characters didn’t even have names—like the girl who happened to be showering in the boys’ dorm bathroom, accidentally encountered by the protagonist, and ended up joining him as a couple.
Maybe An An was one of the nameless supporting characters in her story.
A cute, round face, probably a D-cup, height undetermined…
That’s such a ridiculously hard character to track down!
Some people believe that a novel is written by its author word by word, so the one most familiar with the story must be the author.
But Ning Chu would like to disagree—absolutely not!
She couldn’t even remember the names of her supporting characters. She’d write one and forget another, only retaining a rough outline of the plot she’d written. Forget about recalling the detailed descriptions of the female supporting characters’ appearances.
In fact, if it weren’t for her transmigration bringing the smutty story with her, she wouldn’t have even remembered that the villain in the story was named Zhang Shaoqing.
“Mm… Good thing I organized a spreadsheet before, listing all the unnamed female supporting characters.”
After all, Ning Chu was worried that these female supporting characters might all turn out to be her.
Since An An appeared in the teaching building at night, her attention first shifted to the ghost-themed short story.
“Height just over 150 cm, cute round face, a red spaghetti-strap dress… almost identical!”
“But that ghost was terrified of people, always avoiding them. An An, on the other hand, is way too forward and proactive.”
After reviewing all the short stories featuring unnamed female supporting characters, Ning Chu sighed deeply. “This is giving me a headache.”
Every time she read her smutty stories, she felt a wave of embarrassment. Besides, her writing from one or two years ago was truly awful.
If she rewrote it now, it would be so much steamier!
“Ning Chu,”
Wen Yang opened the door and entered the room, speaking up. “I might need to take a few days off next week.”
“Why?”
“My uncle is sick and in the hospital. He’s having a minor surgery next week, so I need to go back for a bit.” He was drying his hair with a towel as he continued, “It’s the one I mentioned before—the guy who used to pretend to be a medium and perform exorcisms when he was young.”
“Oh, him…” Ning Chu had actually been considering asking Wen Yang’s uncle for help if they ever encountered a ghost scenario.
“Yeah, he’s always been really good to me since I was a kid, but his health isn’t great. He’s only in his early forties but already has a bunch of issues.”
No surprise there—messing with ghosts and exorcisms all the time when he was younger, how could his health not suffer?
She silently mocked in her heart, but her nerves were already on edge.
A few days off! What about her protagonist halo? What if Wen Yang met a female supporting character during this time?
She instinctively blurted out, “How about I go with you?”
“Huh?” Wen Yang stared at her in shock.
Ning Chu’s heart skipped a beat. Realizing how easily her words could be misunderstood, she frantically shook her head. “No, I just…”
Oh no, how could she explain this!
“I just thought… you might not have enough money…” She came up with a weak and nonsensical excuse, trying to brush it off. “Can’t you just not go?”
“It’s not like I have to go. It’s a minor surgery… but I wouldn’t feel comfortable not being there.” Wen Yang hung the towel back in place and explained, “It’s not far anyway. A few hours by bus, and I’d probably only need two days off.”
“Alright then.”
Ning Chu sighed worriedly, completely forgetting about An An.
This is bad~
Although she knew she’d have to face the reality of Wen Yang not being around someday, did it really have to happen so soon?
