Chapter 19: Both Pen and Paper?
So he touched her shoulder and sidestepped both her and him, then met Edwin head-on.
"What do you want?" Leon asked, staring straight at Edwin. In his heart, he couldn't help but scream *cliché*—it felt like a drama was about to unfold, and he had somehow become the main character in it.
In this medieval time, there was no drama, except for Leon, who had already seen countless dramas unfold.
Edwin squinted his eyes but didn't speak for some time before a smile appeared on his face.
"Leon, I just want to speak if we want to hang out together."
The two behind Leon, who had heard this, were a little stunned.
"No." Leon shook his head directly.
"Eh, why?"
"Because I don't want to," he said expressionlessly, then looked behind at the two. "Let's go, you two."
With that, Leon walked forward, and the two quickly followed behind him.
Edwin just stood there with a smile on his face, not speaking for a moment.
"Should we make a move?" Edward quietly whispered in Edwin's ear. "This bastard is too arrogant for his own good."
"Fool, do you know the Finn family?" Edwin spoke with a twitch of his eyebrows.
"The Finn family?"
"They are the personal guards of the King for generations, and Leon can be considered royalty. You want me to mess with him?" Edwin grabbed Edward by the collar and slapped him.
Slap!
Then, with a smile on his face as if nothing had happened, Edwin left Edward spiraling across the ground in confusion.
The children here didn't speak much. Although they were children, they were home-trained and had at least some intelligence in their brains not to offend either party.
This was just a little episode that happened and ended soon after.
Leon, Marcus, and Tina slowly walked to the classroom.
"Leon, do you think that guy will make trouble for you?" Marcus asked, his face reflecting confusion.
"It is unlikely."
Leon shook his head. If Edwin had even a single brain cell, he wouldn't. Leon knew about his family background and also knew about Edwin, who was in the trading business. If they clashed, the outcome was clear.
As soon as they entered the classroom, the teacher blocked the way for him.
"Leon, I have something to talk about with you."
"What is it?" Leon looked at the man.
"Are you sure about this decision? That you want to abandon..."
"I am not abandoning anything." Leon casually stated. "I can be a scholar and a warrior at the same time."
"Eh!?" The man paused, stunned.
"You don't want to be my teacher?" Leon tilted his head.
"No, that is not it." The man said with a smile on his face. "If you are willing to be my disciple, then I will gladly accept it."
"Okay." Leon nodded his head.
"Woah, Leon, did you become a disciple of Teacher Truman, just like that?"
"Yeah."
The three of them settled down, and the class soon started.
"Wait for me!" Suddenly, a shout came from outside the classroom, and a small boy with a runny nose violently opened the door.
The teacher looked at this and frowned. "Why are you so late, Bert?"
"I... I was late because... because of..." Bert hesitated, closing his eyes.
"Because of what!?" The teacher shouted, and everyone started to laugh. Some of the children didn't laugh, but most of them did, causing Bert to have tears in his eyes.
"Sigh, keep quiet. Also, stand outside, Bert." The teacher patted Bert's shoulder, and then the class continued.
Leon watched this scene quietly.
After some time, the class ended, and it was time for their outdoor activities again.
Leon, Marcus, and Tina walked out of the classroom and saw the bulky, shirtless man again.
"Ten rounds around the ground. After that, I will tell you what to do."
He barked, and the children immediately started running laps on the open ground.
As always, Leon was the first, but Tina was right behind him, with Edwin silently following behind them.
But Leon's focus wasn't on the race. Instead, it was on a scene in the distance.
A group of children were blocking the way of the runny-nose kid from earlier. His collar was tightly caught, and it seemed like a fight was about to break out at any moment.
"What happened to him?" Leon silently glanced at them for a moment before resuming his sprint around the ground.
He put a little more strength in his legs and shot off in an instant.
There were still three rounds left before they could complete the ten rounds.
Fatty was still running his second lap when Leon overtook him, and just a few minutes later, Leon passed him again.
"Woah, Leon, am I keeping up with you?" Marcus shouted, panting with heavy breaths.
Leon silently glanced at Fatty before running again. Now, Fatty could clearly see Leon surpassing everyone, completing a round before catching up to him again.
"Eh?" Fatty, in all honesty, was stunned on the spot.
By the time Fatty completed his third round, Leon had finished his tenth.
"Not bad, kid!" the instructor said with a nod of approval.
Leon silently bowed and went out of his way. The runny-nose kid was still surrounded and being grabbed.
"Should I listen?" He was quite curious. From what he could see, they were definitely bullies, and it reminded him of his past, which soured his mood by a significant portion.
That helpless state when everyone bullied him, those stronger people who wanted to stroke their ego, their insecurities that drove them to beat him up for it. Those bystanders who watched all of this, their lips curved upward in amusement.
It felt like he wanted to drown the world in pain and suffering. It had taken him a long, long time to recover from that state of depression.
Leon slowly closed his eyes to focus. His ears twitched slightly, and the yellow chakra in his core started to move, traveling through the roots of his body before reaching his ears.
"Hey, little brat, how is it going for you?"
