Unraveling the Alpha's Secret

Chapter 12: Chapter 12

Tobias POV

Bent over on my desk, reading glasses on the bridge of my nose to sharpen my vision as my blue eyes read through the contents of the sheet of paper in my palm.

The clock on the wall ticked toward 8 am, all the bones in my body felt a bit weary. Despite the fact I was an Alpha werewolf, I still got tired at some point.

I hadn't slept for a straight 48 hours thus I'd been busy handling pack duties and overseeing to documents concerning my personal assets and other pack properties under my care as the Alpha.

"Alpha, this is Beta Jarvis," A voice I recognized spoke after a quick knock on the metal door that led to my study/office. "I'm here with a document."

"Come in," I answered, reaching for the glasses and dropping it on my desk, rubbing my lids as the door creeked and in walked my Beta and bestfriend. "You can announce yourself but it's not essential to declare what you are here for"

"Still, it's a necessary protocol," he grinned, shrugging his lean shoulders which were a total contrast to my bulky ones. He was clad in a simple black, long-sleeved vest and jeans, brown long hair a little inches over his shoulders, a darker tone to his brown eyes.

"Not when it's only us," I argued, leaning back in my chair, my posture clad in a Versace white shirt and designer black slacks stretching as I fixed my gaze on him. "Which document do you possess?"

"It's about the hospital you acquired recently," he informed, handing me the file.

I sat up, taking the file from him and unclasping it to retrieve the sheet of paper, stating my ownership of the health establishment back at the neighboring pack.

The only thing left to certify my ownership was the to sign the document. I would have gone the previous day to sign it in person and discuss the with the doctor and previous director.

However I was too busy and in no time it was evening and I found it late to go over in a bid to avoid disrupting the workers and patients. Speaking of patients, one particular woman stood out to me.

She seemed really ill and I didn't want her staying in a crowded space which was why I had the director move her to a temporary room. It was the only one empty and in the part of the hospital which needed renovation fast.

It was a tough decision but I felt she needed to free space and I planned to move her as soon as a free room showed up and the renovation began.

To see her was one of the reasons I planned to go to the hospital aside from signing the documents. Hopefully things would be sorted out soon.

"After signing this, it'll be all right?" I implored, picking up my pen to uncap it and sign in the space provided.

"Yes Alpha," he affirmed. "We've handled everything else."

"Okay," I bobbed my head, the black curls atop my head, falling over an eyebrow. I signed the document and placed it back into the file, shutting it and handed it back to my Beta.

"I'll have to send this back to the hospital then," he declared, and sent me a perplexed glance.

"What?" I raised a question, my blue eyes directed at him.

"I know you are the Alpha but it would be best if you get some rest once in a while," he advised, worry flashing on his face for a moment. "We supernatural beings tend do breakdown once in a while and that is why we have hospitals, remember that."

"Thank you for your kind words Jarvis," I snorted. "I'll try to rest as soon I can."

"Please do," he said in parting and whirled on his heel, strolling out of the room and shutting the barrier after.

Left alone in my study, my mind went back to the blood pack and everything that concerned them. My only sister died carelessly in their hands.

I couldn't believe they could treat their Luna and queen in such a manner, and her said husband and mate who had promised to care for her and stand by her left her by herself and devoted his every waking moment to pack duties.

As an Alpha I totally understood how stressful and time grasping handling affairs of a pack could be, nonetheless it couldn't justify the act of leaving your wife to slowly fade away, even to the point she lost her soul before her body succumbed to death.

I couldn't bear the pain of losing my sister especially after I made several attempts to set things right. I raised hell on their head and promised to not let things slide which backfired a little time later when the Alpha died in an attack and I was accused of his death.

Since then the blood pack and moon pack where I was the Alpha were unannounced enemies. We gathered at functions hence we were still in-laws but it was common knowledge that we were careful not to step on each other's toes.

I had sworn not to have anything personal to do with anyone from the blood pack so imagine the irony when I discovered the moon goddess had played a dirty trick on me by choosing Ivonne, current Luna of the blood pack as my second chance mate.

My brain felt like it was splitting the night of the crazy gathering called by Lincoln and his mistress Allison. It was common knowledge what was happening but no one at the blood pack dared to say anything which made my hatred for them grow more.

I tried to disassociate myself from her especially after I had heard stories which none were yet confirmed to be true. My plan however felt as I spotted her ordering drinks from the bar and had a sense of pity toward her.

When she got off the stool, I found myself following her, trying to convince my mind I was just doing that because I didn't want her to harm herself and not because of some kind of affection which was starting to develop after we ran into each other.

I walked behind her as she climbed the stairs still lying to myself it was due to the fact I wanted to catch her in case she slipped. Excuse after excuse popped into my head till I saw her stride into her room safely.

Heavens knew I should have turned around in that moment and left the pack house and the entire blood pack land immediately after, nonetheless I did the opposite by wandering to her door and what I saw entranced me.

My legs moved faster than my brain for the thousandth time that day and I was in her room, her hands going to my chest and I couldn't find any bit of resolve in me to push her way.

I tried to do something but it seemed I was rendered paralyzed by her brown eyes and touch, every nerve and bone in my body succumbing to her presence.

When she called her husband's name I felt ticked off and jealous, however I wanted to make my mark on her mind by fucking her insides up in the best way I could think of, I made sure to—"

"Alpha, Ivonne, Luna of the blood pack is pleading for your audience," one of the guards sounded, cutting off my thoughts with a more shocking reality.
