Chapter 13: Chapter 13
Ivonne's POV
It's been so long since I drove myself, years even, hence I always had a driver or someone to take me somewhere, at times it was Lincoln when everything was alright.
Figuring out the roads on my own was tough, especially when I was driving out of the blood pack and t0 the next. The wind blew my hair as I steered the wheel, eyes fixed on my path so I wouldn't get lost.
It took me a little long to reach there though it wasn't as long as I expected it to. Soon I was arriving at the pack boundaries and finally on the land before I rolled the car toward the Alpha's residence.
This pack wss different from ours in many ways. I would say more civilized and developed even. It was more like a city than a simple pack and one could spot factories and other industrial establishments here and there.
I had made my research online about them to add to what knowledge I had or what any other member of the blood pack surely knew or thought they knew about them.
That was why I was able to locate the Alpha's residence through the map because of the picture of it I saw online. They had a pack house but things were so developed that almost everyone had their own house.
Only the guards, staff, warriors and those aspiring to be were residing in the large building. One could say it was more of a dormitory of some sorts than a house.
I turned off the engine, unlocked the car, grabbed my bag and climbed out of the vehicle. My shoes met the concrete flooring and wandered toward the entrance.
"Who are you here for?" The grey eyed guard at the door inquired, blocking me with a muscled arm.
"Good day," I uttered in greeting, my gaze sighting the different colors of flowers lining the foot of the white painted one storey building. "I'm here to discuss something with Alpha Tobias."
"What does the Luna of the blood pack have to discuss with our Alpha?" A man with long black hair and brown eyes inquired, coming out of the house.
My lids narrowed as I tried to discern who he was. He appeared familiar, rather I couldn't discern who he was. He happened to notice and reached out a hand. "I'm Jarvis, second to the Alpha or in short, the Beta of this pack."
"Nice to meet you Jarvis," I reached out a palm for a shake and the guard dropped his arm, granting Jarvis a chance to meet my fingers.
"I don't know if it's nice to meet you yet," he said in a small smile, nonetheless shaking my hand. "At least till I know the reason behind this impromptu visit to our pack and the Alpha."
"Speaking off," I smiled in return, clenching and unclenching my fingers as he released my hand. "Is Alpha Tobias in?"
"He is," the man called Jarvis nodded in reply. "The man hasn't even stepped out of his office in the last 24 hours."
"Will this be a good time to see him now?" I had to ask, feeling a bit of pity for a reason unknown to me.
"Will you go and come back if him or anyone of us tells you it's not a good time?" He lifted a brow in question.
"No," I tilted my head to the side, a tad surprised by his attitude. "But I can wait till he's ready." "That's like putting pressure don't you think?" He queried in a scoff.
"Well I—"
"You can go in anyway," he cut me off and I couldn't hold in a snort in reply. "From what I can see, what brought you seems too urgent to be postponed."
"It really can't," I bobbed my head, glad I was finally in the same boat with the man. "So may I?" "Surely you can," he murmured and gestured toward the entrance. "Let her in."
"Thank you," I beamed in gratitude and turned toward the guard who fully stepped aside for me to walk past.
"You are welcome," he declared and I didn't have to look backward to know his eyes were on me as I felt the heat of his stare and his next words confirmed it. "I have a feeling we are going to be seeing ourselves often Luna Ivonne."
"Time will tell," I murmured just as as I was about to stroll inward and whirled to give him a nod before I went the rest of the way into what appeared to be a spacious living room.
The walls were painted in the same hue as the outside. Carved wooden artifacts decorated the space by being pinned to the wall, on table tops and on the TV stands, everywhere.
It should have looked weird or crazy with the brown colored leather seats and glass tables, but surprisingly it all blended well with each other.
"Wait here," the guard who was at the door advised, shocking me from scanning the room hence I didn't realize he had followed me inside.
"Can I si—" I was about to ask but got stopped halfway when he ignored me and strolled behind me down a corner and soon I heard a knock and a voice informing someone about my presence.
In less than a minute the guard reappears and sauntered past me to the exit and I heard the barrier shut, leaving me alone in the living room and house with a man who was basically a stranger.
As I spent minutes awaiting his presence, I ran the whole decision in my head, doubt creeping in as my heartbeat picked up on the consequence that would follow if things messed up.
I was a few seconds away from bolting when I heed footsteps which made me go rigid for moments before I could manage to turn around and face the ruggedly handsome looking Alpha Tobias.
He was dressed in designer wears as usual and appeared very attractive than I had imagined him to be. Something in me stirred, something I didn't want to ponder on hence it would mean what I wasn't ready to confront yet.
I felt his dominating presence, my wolf getting comfortable with it and wanting to be submissive to his wolf as she too sensed a connection with his wolf same way I had an urge to cover the distance and touch him.
"What do you want Ivonne?" He came to a halt a few inches away from me, a couch in between us.
"I know my presence is unannounced Alpha," I began, intertwining my fingers and avoiding eye contact. "I need your help."
"Go ahead and tell me what you need my help with Ivonne," he said in his compelling Alpha tone. "And I pray fucking Lincoln didn't send you down here."
"No no he didn't," I rushed to input, my eyes prancing around in a panic. "He doesn't even know I'm here."
"Okay then," he nodded. "Hit me."
"My mom is in the hospital and I'll need to clear the hospital bills if not she'd get sent out today," I wasted no second in divulging my problems. "I currently do not have any money and Lincoln has sworn not to give me a dime."
"Let me get this straight," he let out in a laugh. "So the reason you are here is because you need money?"
