Chapter 28: Become A Camp Committee Member
Having moved up to 12th grade, they are now the oldest seniors in the school. Unfortunately, the classes are no longer randomized, which makes Claire and Fein become one class again for the second time.
However, unlike before, both Claire and Fein, they can accept it well. In fact, the two of them rarely fought with each other anymore.
But that didn't mean that the two of them had reconciled and got along with each other. Just trying to accept the situation at hand.
That day, a week after the grade promotion, Angelia, who was again the class president, announced that the student council wanted them to choose two representatives to be the committee for the camp that would be held next month.
The camp would only be attended by 10th graders as an intention to get closer to each other.
"So... Who is willing to be a representative for this camp? You will get permission to be absent from school for three days to prepare for this day and night camp," Angelia explained.
Not a single student raised their hand to be a representative. They thought, why would they participate in something like that? Especially if all the participants were tenth graders, the juniors.
"Is there really no one who wants to?" asked Angelia again looking at her friends.
At the same time, Claire had just gotten out of the bathroom. He wiped his hands with a handkerchief then put them back into his pants pocket and walked towards his class.
In the classroom hallway, he met Fein who had just finished his shift at the library. It looked as if the man was exhausted, unlike his usual self.
"Done with your business, hm?" asked Fein.
"Yes, you too? Done with that partner of yours?"
"What the hell, I'm guarding the library. Not alone with her."
Claire just shrugged his shoulders and opened the classroom door. As soon as the classroom door opened and he and Fein were about to enter the class, their classmates applauded the two of them.
"Huh? What's going on?" asked Claire in surprise.
"Congratulations, you've been selected as the class representative committee for next month's camp!" they exclaimed.
"Representative committee?!" they were both shocked.
Angelia explained that the event was compulsory and both of them had been selected to be the committee. They couldn't refuse and had to participate or their class would be punished.
"Heh, you chose us just because we weren't in class during the election? I still don't agree. I don't care if you guys have to get punished," Fein strongly rejected himself as a committee.
"Don't be like that, don't you feel sorry for your own friends? You will also be punished later. Besides, you have Claire to accompany you," said Angelia soothing Fein.
Seeing Fein who refused to do so, Dior volunteered to replace Fein as the camp committee. Knowing that Dior would replace him, Fein immediately cut off the man's words.
"Alright alright, I'll do it," he said.
'How quickly he changed his mind--' his classmates thought.
"What about you, Claire? You'll still come, right?" asked Angelia again.
Claire nodded his head. "Yeah, I guess it's not bad to come. Besides, that way we can get close to the juniors."
"You'll want to flirt with them!" teased one of his friends.
They laughed at that because they knew Claire was popular among the beauties. So he would definitely be happy if he could get to know the juniors.
The class president closed their meeting, she told Claire and Fein to come to the student council room after school to start talking about the camp.
The two agreed and returned to their seats.
Dior was suspicious as to why Fein had suddenly changed his mind so quickly. He was worried that Fein had bad intentions towards Claire later. But there was nothing he could do but keep an eye on the man so as not to make a scene with Claire.
"Claire, are you sure you want to join the camp committee?" asked Dior.
"Yes, what is it?"
"I don't know, but I doubt it. Especially since you and Fein are the class representatives. I suspect he'll do something weird to prank you," he explained.
Claire was silent for a moment, he turned to Fein and looked at him. He was reminded of the incident in the library a month ago during the exam. Fein saved him from the Alphas who tried to threaten him.
Somehow, since then Claire had slightly changed his perspective on Fein. He knew that Fein already had a girlfriend and that he did that not to save Claire, but because those Alphas were making a scene in the library.
However, how Fein talked to him afterwards to the point of lending him his school coat, made Claire forget about the fuss they had made in the past.
"I don't know, Dior. But I think everything will be fine," Claire replied.
Hearing Claire's answer, Dior could only remain silent. He didn't know what to do to convince Claire of Fein who could threaten him.

After school, Claire and Fein went to the student council room. There were already many representatives from other classes who had arrived first.
"It's crowded..."
"Excuse me, what class do you represent?" asked a girl with glasses.
"Oh we're from 3A, my name is Claire and this is Fein," Claire replied.
The girl welcomed them and asked them to sit in the seats provided. After all the class representatives gathered from class 3A to D. The meeting began, they talked about the purpose of the camp and the number of ten graders which amounted to 120 children.
Claire took notes on every point that the student council president told them, while Fein was busy leaning his head on his hands and listening lazily. It was as if he didn't want to be there in the first place. But he had to attend the meeting.
"Alright, I think that's enough explanation for today. We'll meet again the day after tomorrow, we'll explain the division of tasks for the camp," said the student council president closing the meeting.
The students tidied up their belongings and walked out of the student council room, as did Claire and Fein. They came out last when the room was quiet.
Fein looked sleepy, he yawned softly. Claire just silently watched Fein, he had been glancing at the man who seemed unfocused with the meeting earlier.
"Are you tired? What time did you sleep?" Claire asked.
"What does that have to do with it? The meeting was boring," Fein replied.
"You shouldn't have agreed if you didn't like it, you idiot." The silver-haired man sighed and walked through the hallway to get to the front gate of the school.
"Well, next time you should be more serious about the meeting. If I suddenly have business, there's still you I can count on to join the meeting," said Claire folding his hands in front of his chest and stare at Fein.
"Hufft... Right, I'll do it later. Go home already, it's almost night now. The sky is already dark," Fein replied then turned to leave Claire at the school gate.
Claire could only shake his head to see Fein like that, then went back to his house. On the way back, he hoped to be able to understand his partner better.
