Chapter 224: Chapter 224: Buying a Bigger Bed
The asteroid base was fully equipped, and He Kui, immersed in his work each day, didn't feel any discomfort about staying there. His parents were thrilled with his and Shi He's arrival, and Shi He herself had recently received a promotion.
After He Kui became the director, he naturally elevated Shi He to the deputy director position, and Su Lei as well. However, Shi He worked under Erin, while Su Lei was directly under He Kui. Although there was a hint of favoritism, Shi He's skills were indeed exceptional, nearing S-grade under He Kui's system.
Shi He typically kept a low profile, concealing her talents to avoid outshining He Kui. But now that wasn't a concern, and with her accomplishments and skills, her promotion to deputy director was unquestionable.
"Lowe and his team are about to leave," Shi He mentioned, removing her white military uniform to reveal the white tank top beneath.
"It's about time."
"They're headed to April City?"
"Yes, they've been hired by a fan of George's who wants a tour of April City."
He Kui didn't recall any specific plot related to this incident, likely because it wasn't significant in the grand scheme.
"I'll see them off at the Central Hall of the Supreme Council."
"And then? Off to see Lacus?" Shi He teased, slipping behind He Kui and hugging him as he worked.
"Just a talk—the situation is escalating," he replied, changing the topic. Aside from work and their evenings, he hadn't seen Shi He much lately.
"I was chatting with Su Lei," Shi He said with a chuckle, breathing softly near his ear.
"When did you two get so close?"
He Kui gave a slight smile, aware that their good relationship didn't mean diminished affection—he could see their fondness levels hadn't changed. But seeing them get along so well did feel a bit odd.
"Why? Jealous?" Shi He hugged him tighter, and He Kui couldn't help but feel a spark of interest from the softness against his back.
He stood, pulling her close, savoring their shared intimacy. Just as he leaned in to kiss her, the doorbell unexpectedly chimed.
"Not answering it?" Shi He asked, smiling as if she had anticipated it. He Kui's intuition told him something might be up.
Opening the door, he saw none other than Su Lei standing there, looking shy and a bit like she did the first time they'd been together.
"Su Lei~ Come in," Shi He called, dressed only in her pink undergarments. She pulled Su Lei inside before either could react.
"Um…" He Kui, known for his composure, found himself at a rare loss for words as he looked at the two women.
"He Kui, you've been so energetic lately that I can't handle it alone," Shi He teased. "Su Lei mentioned she wouldn't mind, right?"
Seeing Su Lei nod softly, He Kui's heart raced with excitement, and he held their soft hands firmly, sharing a lingering kiss with Shi He.

[You spent a memorable night with Shi He Hanifis and Su Lei.]
[Unlocked mecha: Z Gundam (0/50,000)]
"Why not the Unicorn or Wing Gundam?" He Kui murmured, disappointed as he noted the system's prompt. He wasn't sure if he could even pilot a Unicorn, but Z Gundam was apparently a shared progress bar for him and the two of them, which might speed things up.
The name Z Gundam swirled in his mind, bringing back vague memories. If he recalled correctly, the Z Gundam technology was somewhat mass-producible, even earlier than Orb's Murasame units. However, piloting Z Gundam could be a challenge, and his space adaptability—whether he truly had Newtype potential—was still unconfirmed.
But more than the suit itself, it was the technology within Z Gundam that was enticing: Gundarium Gamma alloy, magnetic coating technology, transformable frame, and NT-exclusive biosensors. If he could integrate this with his nanobots and field modulation project, it would be a game-changer. The fifty thousand-point requirement seemed fair—he only hoped he wouldn't go mad from it.
As he pondered, Shi He's lashes fluttered, and her half-awake, dreamy gaze met his. Blushing slightly as she recalled the previous night's escapades, she murmured, "Thank you."
With a kiss on her pale cheek, He Kui smiled, "You're welcome."
"Oh, but you've been too much to handle lately," she replied, half-joking. Since he'd become closer to Cagalli, his stamina had indeed improved, and Shi He had noticed firsthand. His strength now surpassed Shi He's significantly, especially evident during intimate moments.
Just as they continued talking, Su Lei climbed onto He Kui's back like an affectionate octopus, joining in their morning conversation.
"What are you two talking about?" she asked lazily.
"Buying a bigger bed," He Kui replied, making Su Lei blush and cover her face.
"I'll make breakfast. You two rest a bit longer," he said with a laugh, heading to the kitchen to start cooking. A quick meal of egg and meat sandwiches was ready in no time.
"We're running low on fresh produce and meat. If we don't resupply soon, we'll only have synthetic meat left," Shi He noted, back to her usual serious self as they sat around the table.
"Hawke has arranged a delivery, but after this, we'll temporarily seal off the base," He Kui replied.
He had recently brought Meyrin up as well. Hawke was glad but somewhat wary of this move.
"Is the situation that serious?" Su Lei asked.
"It's very likely to worsen, at least temporarily," he assured them with a smile. "But we're safe here."
"But… what if PLANT loses?" Shi He murmured, looking down.
Previously, she would have confidently declared PLANT would win. But with deeper bonds forming, she now dreaded the potential consequences of defeat. None of them could afford the cost of losing.
"We won't lose. I'm even bringing up the Strike Dagger Shigu. If things go south, we'll still have defenses," he assured, giving them a confident nod.
With breakfast done, Shi He and Su Lei went to work, while He Kui went to check on Lowe, who was finishing up in the hangar.
"Lowe, all set?"
"I've reinforced about 80% of the internal structure. The remaining restricted areas can be completed by you and your team," Lowe confirmed.
"Thanks."
"No problem. But with your skills, couldn't you have handled it yourself?"
"Time was running out."
Part of his reason for calling Lowe was to transport the MS to Earth, but it was also because, with his packed schedule, he needed help with the structural reinforcement. Lowe was more than capable for the job.
"Alright then. If everything's done, let's go. I'll see you off."
All in all, Lowe's visit had been fruitful, achieving several of He Kui's goals. Now he planned to meet with Lacus to discuss the Strengthening Operation and prepare to temporarily lock down the asteroid.
