Chapter 2: Chapter 6 - 10
Chapter 6
Sansa Stark POV
We're practicing for the first game this season, which is on Thursday. I feel better being in high school now that it's the second week, but it's a lot of pressure sitting with the popular group. Most of them still don't talk to me, just Margaery and Daenerys and sometimes Ramsay. I haven't said anything to them, but I actually know Theon. He and Jon were really close in middle school, but then Ramsay came along and gave Theon a chance at popularity, and he took it. I don't blame him, but Jon is still pretty salty and doesn't like to talk about Theon.
This week we're practicing for the game at the actual football field, which is just a couple blocks away from school. It's also right by the Treehouse, a common hookup spot for people at Winterfell. Margaery told me about it, but I had already heard rumors. I honestly think it's kinda gross, but it's well-known. My younger brother would love to climb up there, he loves exploring hidden places like that.
Margaery is taking me home from practice when something occurs to me.
"Why isn't Cersei a cheerleader?" I ask her. All of the most popular girls in the past have been cheerleaders, so it's weird that she's not.
"I don't think she's too into that. Plus it would get in the way of her bitchy time," Margaery says before pausing. She continues, "I'm sorry."
"Why don't you like Cersei?"
"She's just never been very nice to me. I think she sees me as a threat."
"A threat?"
"She wants to be top dog, and she knows that I'm next in line. But she's graduating, and she's more feared than Dany."
"Aren't she and Daenerys best friends?"
"Exactly. Dany would pick her if she wasn't graduating."
"Do you think she'll pick you?"
"There aren't many other options. She has to feel you out for a while. I don't mean that in a bad way, but she doesn't really know you."
I know she's right, but it sucks that she's so sure Daenerys wouldn't pick me. Sometimes I wish Margaery wasn't as confident as she is.
"Oh, do you want to come to my house for a sleepover this weekend?" She interrupts my thoughts. "All the girls will be there, and so will Loras but he won't bother us."
"I'll have to ask my mom," I tell her. "But I really want to. She might want to meet you."
"Don't worry," she smirks at me. "I'll win her over."
Chapter 7
Jon Snow Stark POV
The first football game is tonight. It's kind of a big deal, but I've never been. My mom wants me to go because Sansa is cheering. My brothers Bran and Rickon really want to go, so I agreed to tag along. I miss Robb, he was always better with them even though they like me more.
School has being going okay, as well as it can. I like rock climbing, and my classes aren't too hard. My main friend is still Sam, but I've been talking to Ygritte's cousin, Tormund more. He and Sam have been hanging out some. He's nice, but he can be kinda weird.
Sam will be at the game only because he's in band. He's excited that I'm coming. He won't stop talking about Gilly, but I haven't officially met her. I just let him, she makes him happy. He's too scared to ask her out, though.
Sam still thinks I should get out there and try to find someone. I really have no interest in that. Well, that's not entirely true. I am attracted to girls, but dating isn't something I want at the moment. It's so funny because Sam thought I was some ladies' man when we first met. He imagined I had girls at my disposal whenever I pleased. I've definitely had girls interested in me, but I've never actually been with one.
My father had an affair, and one day the woman dropped me off on their doorstep. My dad didn't even know she was pregnant, and my mother was kind enough to raise me. No one would have blamed her if she left, but I think she resents me. I know she does.
I want to wait until I'm married to lose my virginity. I don't want to have a kid that feels resented his entire life, or worse, I don't want to have a kid out there that I don't know about. I haven't shared that promise I've made with many people, I know I'd be judged. Sex is kind of a big deal at Winterfell. There are plenty of pretty girls at Winterfell, but I know it's not right for me right now.
We're getting ready to go to the game, Bran and Rickon are so excited. I know Bran will just want to go off on some adventure on his own eventually when he gets bored, and Mom will let him even though it's dangerous to let him do that.
I'm more excited to go then I thought I would be. I know it'll mean a lot to Sansa and my mom that I'm there. My mom just wants me to be able to babysit so she can tune the boys out, but at least she'll be happy with me.
Chapter 8
Sansa Stark POV
Cheering at the first game is such a weird experience. This is the first time I actually feel like I'm on the team. Daenerys has been so nice to me. It feels really good knowing my family is watching. My mom made all the boys come, but Arya is busy with fencing club. I feel like she has a more active social life than I do, and she's only in 7th grade.
I saw Cersei and Jaime in the stands during the first quarter, but I don't see them anymore. Sometimes they're joined by their younger brother. He's homeschooled, but I've heard he comes to school things sometimes.
Jaime plays tennis and basketball, and Ramsay plays football with Theon. They're supposedly best friends, but Ramsay isn't very nice to him. Ramsay keeps looking at me and smiling. He's kind of cute, it would help my image to date a football player.
As the game's first half is coming to a close, I look up at where my mom and brothers were sitting and they aren't there anymore. That seems weird, but Bran and Rickon were probably being too unruly. Still, I thought my mom would at least stay and wait for me. I can get a ride from Margaery if she left.
Jon Snow Stark POV
Of course my mom let Bran go off on some adventure halfway through the game. She doesn't like to and she knows it's dangerous, but I guess it's better than dealing with him. He wanted Rickon to tag along, but Rickon wanted to stay and watch the game.
As the last quarter is dragging on, my mom asks me to go and find Bran. I don't know why that's my job, but I guess it's less dangerous for me now that it's dark. She really should have never let him go, who knows how long it's going to take to find him? I walk under the bleachers and around any hidden spots that he might have wanted to explore.
I panic as I have another thought. The Treehouse. He would love to check out a place like that, and it's pretty close. Shit. That's the last place he should go, especially during a football game. God only knows who might be up there and what he might find.
I run towards the woods where the treehouse is. When I get there, I do see Bran. I knew it. He's lying in the grass rubbing his head.
"Bran! Bran!" I say as I run over to him. "Are you okay? What happened?"
"I'm fine, I just fell and hit my head," he tells me. "I'm just going to take a nap here. I'll be back soon."
Hell no. "No you're not, come on. We're going to find mom." He stands up and puts his arm around my waist as i cradle his head. Fuck, he might have a concussion. I hope mom doesn't get mad at me.
We make it back to some benches by the bleachers. I ask the concessions stand person for some ice, and I make Bran sit down as I hand it to him. "Don't move. I'm going to get mom." I run up the bleachers to find her and Rickon.
"Mom, we have to go. Bran hit his head."
"What? How?" She asks me.
"I don't know," I tell her. I don't mention the Treehouse. "But we need to go."
We get to the benches and luckily Bran didn't move. "Are you okay, baby?" My mom is rubbing his back. Bran just groans. "I think he needs to go to the ER." They start to go to the car.
"What about Sansa?" I say, calling after them.
My mom realizes. I think she completely forgot. "Oh, God," she says. "Okay, Jon you wait for Sansa and use the car to take her and Rickon home. I'm calling Dad." She hands me the keys.
Sansa Stark POV
I'm heading out of the stadium towards the parking lot to see if my mom is still here, but I only see Jon and Rickon.
"Hey Jon," I say as I walk up to the car. "Where's mom?"
"She got picked up by dad," he tells me. "They had to take Bran to the emergency room."
"What?! What happened?"
"He hit his head," Jon says. "Of course mom let him go on some adventure alone and he got hurt."
We get in the car to head home. Jon is sure Bran will be fine, but I'm just confused. He's never hurt himself like that, and he loves to go on adventures.
We get home and Arya is doing homework at the kitchen table. Mom and dad are already home, but I don't see Bran.
"How's Bran?" Jon asks.
"The doctor said he'll be okay," my dad says. "He just needs to rest and take the meds they prescribed starting tomorrow."
"Mom, I told you it's not a good idea to let him go off like that." Jon and my parents start arguing. I look at Arya and we go up to our room. I love my family, but it gets really hectic when anything goes wrong. I wish Jon didn't feel like he had to be a parent to us younger ones now that Robb is gone.
Chapter 9
Jon Snow Stark POV
Bran is doing a little better, but he stayed home from school today and probably will for a while. It's Friday, the day after the game. I had rock climbing practice, which is now over. I offered to skip it, but mom is home with Bran.
I'm at my locker getting my things, and I look around for Sam. I don't see him. Sometimes he asks me for a ride home, but his dad must have picked him up. He doesn't drive, despite me telling him he would get more dates if he did.
I'm walking out of the locker room, still lost in thought when I hear a voice.
"Hey you," it's Ygritte. "Do you want to go get ice cream? I have a coupon that expires soon."
"I probably should get home," I tell her. "My brother got hurt last night."
"Oh yeah, I heard about that. I'm really sorry that happened."
"How did you hear about that?"
"Word travels fast," I can't figure her out. "Is he alone?"
"No, my mom is there."
"Then what will it hurt to come with me? It's Friday, you have to have some fun. Free ice cream…"
I think about it, she's right. I should have more than one friend. If my mom needs me she'll text me. "Yeah, sure. Why not?"
We're walking to the ice cream shop in silence, and it's pretty awkward. To break the silence, I say, "So is it weird moving somewhere that you don't know anyone?"
"No, Tormund has been introducing me to people," she says. "I have a couple friends already."
"That's good," I say. We're silent until we get to the ice cream shop and order. It's really busy inside, so we find seats on a bench outside.
"What's it like having Tormund as a cousin?" I ask her. "He's definitely an interesting character."
"Yeah, he's definitely something. He's harmless, just eccentric. Even though we fight, he's like a brother to me. I did rock climbing and archery at my old school, and he helped me get into the clubs here."
"That's cool," I say. She's actually not bad, not as hostile as I was expecting. "Tormund's a good rock climber, but I think he mainly does it because he's weirdly into the coach."
"Yeah, I know. He talks about her."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I don't know what it is. He's into really athletic women. He always has been."
There's another long pause as we eat more of our ice cream.
"So your dad is Eddard Stark, right? But your siblings are only your half siblings?" She asks me. God, does she know everything?
"Yeah, how did you know?"
"Tormund told me. He and Sam hang out sometimes."
I figured. Pretty much everyone knows about the scandal my birth caused. "Yeah, but I don't know anything about my birthmother so I see my siblings as my full siblings, and their mom as my mom."
"Sorry," she says after a pause. "I didn't mean to be nosy. I tend to not have a filter so feel free to tell me to shut up."
"You're fine. People usually don't take interest in me for very long because I'm so quiet, so I just don't know how to respond."
"Well, even I know that's not true," she says, rolling her eyes. "I've been here a week and even I've heard things."
"About my dad?"
"No, about you. Girls are constantly talking about you, wondering about you."
I don't know what she's referring to. Yes, I've had girls interested in me, but not in droves like she's making it sound.
"Ygritte…" I don't know what to say. "I think you're overselling me. I don't have as many girls after me as you might think."
She smirks at me. "You really know nothing, Jon Snow."
Chapter 10
Sansa Stark POV
It's Saturday, and I'm waiting for Margaery to pick me up and take me to her house. My mom said I could go if she met Margaery beforehand, and she has to stay with Bran. It's only been 2 days since everything happened, and he's doing okay. He should be able to go back to school by Tuesday.
Margaery knocks on the door and my mom opens it. "Hi, you must be Margaery."
"It's lovely to meet you Mrs. Stark." She comes in. I stand up with my duffel bag.
"Mom, this is Margaery," I say.
"Hello Margaery," she seems unsure. "It's really good to meet you."
"You too," she immediately shifts to something that my mom will appreciate. "How is Sansa's brother? I'm so sorry about what happened."
"He's doing better, just still needs to rest." There's a long pause. "So who all will be at this sleepover?"
"Just some other girls from the team. Dany, Missandei, Myranda and our other friend Cersei."
"Okay, girls only I'm assuming." Ugh, my mom should already know that.
"Oh of course, Mrs. Stark. My brother will be home but he won't bother us, and my grandmother will also be there."
That seems to put my mom at ease. "Oh, okay that's wonderful. Do you have a house phone number I can have?"
"Mom!" I say. God, she's embarassing me so much.
"Of course, no problem." Margaery takes out a pen and writes the number down on a post-it. She turns to me. "Are you ready to go?"
I walk towards her, giving my mom a hug on the way. "Bye mom."
"Bye, Sansa," she says. "I'll pick you up tomorrow." I just nod at her and we walk out the door.
We get outside and I get into Margaery's car.
"I'm so sorry," I'm so embarassed and anxious. "My mom can get protective, but I didn't think she would ask for your number."
"It's okay," Margaery says as she drives out of my neighborhood. "My grandma is protective over me and Loras, too."
"She's just so embarassing," there's a long pause. "So what are we going to do tonight?"
"Gossip, for sure. I need to get an update on the guy Missandei is really into. And I don't know, eat junk, watch movies. We're pretty chill, honestly."
I shouldn't be as nervous as I am. This is my first social interaction with these people outside of school, I want them to keep letting me hang out with them.
…
It's almost midnight, and we've already eaten pizza and watched part of a show and a movie. The girls are honestly pretty nice, I really like Missandei. She and I haven't talked much because she doesn't eat with us.
As the movie is coming to a close and the credits roll, Margaery turns off the TV and goes into her closet.
"Okay," she says while rooting around in her closet. "It's time for everybody's favorite game." She pulls out a bottle of wine and a series of cheers rings through the room.
"What game?" I ask.
"I'm going to pass this bottle around," Margaery explains as we all move into a circle. "We're going to go around, and each person will ask someone else in the group a question. You can either answer the question truthfully, or you can take a swig."
"Oh no thank you, I don't want any wine." I say sheepishly. My mom would absolutely kill me if I drank and she found out, even though she's let me try champagne before.
There's a pause before Cersei looks over at me. "Then you better not have anything to hide." She says, looking me up and down.
"Don't worry, I'll ask first," Margaery says. "Missandei. How are things going with Grey Worm?"
I look over and see Missandei blush. "I haven't talked to him this year yet. He looks so much hotter than last year."
The girls laugh. "She's been drooling over him since we were 12," Margaery says. "Look girl, I told you you're going to have to do something one of these days. Basketball season is just around the corner and you'll get to see him a lot. He isn't going to wait forever."
Margaery passes the bottle to Missandei, who looks at Cersei. "Cersei," she says. "What happened between you and Euron Greyjoy at your back-to-school party? We all saw you go upstairs with him, I want details."
Cersei reaches for the bottle and Missandei hands it to her. "A lady never tells," she says before taking a swig. There's a pause in the game while Margaery and Missandei whisper and giggle. Cersei is looking around, before fixing her gaze on me. "Sansa," she says. The room goes silent, and I'm terrified. "Are you a virgin?"
I just look at her and nod. "Yes," I say, almost whispering.
Cersei's eyes get wide. "Really?" She sounds absolutely shocked.
"She's 14," Margaery says. Why does she say that like I'm a baby?
"So?" Cersei says to Margaery. "I wasn't a virgin when I was 14."
"Yeah, well not everyone has sex with their brother." Missandei and Myranda burst out laughing at Margaery's remark.
"Shut up, Margaery! I've never fucked Jaime, that's disgusting!" She's getting angry. "At least my brother isn't gay."
"Loras isn't gay!" Margaery hits Cersei with a pillow and then turns to me. "He's not gay." She says to me in particular.
"I think it's honestly better to wait to lose your virginity," Daenerys chimes in. "I lost mine when I was 14 and it wasn't exactly amazing."
"Yeah, well you lost yours to Khal Drogo who was basically an adult," Cersei says. "He was graduating and wanted to hit that."
"We were dating." Daenerys clarifies.
"Dany, you know what he was after," Cersei says.
"I do now, I though I was in love then." Daenerys turns to me. "Don't listen to these idiots. Wait until you're ready."
I know it's supposed to be my turn to ask a question, but Cersei keeps going. "Are there any boys catching your eye?"
I don't want to answer that, but I definitely don't want to have to drink. "Um… Ramsay is kind of cute."
"Hey, watch yourself," Myranda says to me. "He's mine."
I'm getting confused. "Are you dating him?" I ask her. If they were dating I assumed she would eat with us, and he's never mentioned her.
"They aren't dating, sex doesn't mean dating," Cersei says, snickering.
Myranda glares at her. "It's not official, we aren't boyfriend and girlfriend yet. But I know it's coming soon."
"Yeah, I'm sure it is," Margaery says under her breath. Myranda seems very peeved.
"I'm sorry," I say to her. "I didn't know." Myranda just looks at me, but I think she forgives me. I hope she does, I really need these girls to like me.
Margaery and Missandei start having a side conversation when Daenerys turns to me. "Is your brother okay? I heard about what happened and I'm really sorry."
"He's fine," I tell her. "Jon said he just fell from the Treehouse. He loves to go off on his own adventures. He has a mild concussion, but he'll be okay."
"I'm glad Jon was there to find him," Daenerys adds. "He seems like such a good older brother."
"Oh, God," Margaery says, breaking away from her side conversation. "What did he see in the Treehouse? He probably fell from shock."
"He said he didn't see anything," I tell her. "He just slipped and fell."
"I'm shocked no one was in there hooking up," Margaery continues. "Especially during a football game."
"Kids are idiots," Cersei says. "If anyone was in there he probably just fell trying to run away." She sounds weirdly angry about it, as if it was Bran's fault or he meant to do harm by climbing a tree.
"Cersei, calm down," Daenerys says. "He's just a kid, and he didn't know what that place was for. And plus, no one was in there anyway."
Cersei rolls her eyes and drinks more of the wine. I'm getting a really weird and bad vibe from her.
