Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 80: Chapter 80: The Rule of Flesh

There was no time for Richard to hesitate. Faced with the choice between maximizing his mental strength or acquiring a new rule, Richard decisively chose the latter.

As soon as he opted to extract the rule, Richard felt as if a part of his soul had been carved out, filling him with an indescribable emptiness. It felt as though something essential was missing from him.

With fuel provided, the Miracle Furnace whirred into action. The tendril Richard held vanished instantaneously, reappearing within the furnace. Though Richard wished to observe the details of the extraction, the process was swift; in moments, a glowing orb tinged with blood-red light floated above the furnace. The tendril, now devoid of any essence, twitched feebly, reduced to mere flesh.

"The Rule of Flesh... I hope it's worth it."

Absorbing the orb, Richard immediately sensed a profound power entering his body, bringing with it a revelation. This was no mere absorption of skills; he truly "understood" something fundamental.

Once the absorption was complete, Richard opened his eyes and pressed his hand lightly against the wall beside him. With a dull sound, his palm left an imprint with ease.

Richard retrieved a crystal ball, testing his current stats.

[Mental Power: 38, Physique: 45, Magic: 380, Rating: Mid-Level Apprentice]

"Still at forty-five points, my physique hasn't increased," Richard pondered over his stats. Recently, his physique had reached forty-five points thanks to the effects of feedback, physique-enhancing potions, and Body Adaptation training, depleting his stock of enhancement potions.

"But my strength has indeed increased. Moreover, it seems I can now..."

With a thought, Richard's arm muscles began to subtly reshape, intertwining into a new muscle structure.

"Flesh manipulation? This can't be all."

Richard pulled out two magic stones to replenish his magic, then activated his bloodline. This time, the activation was different. Richard found he could control which parts of his body transformed, unlike before, when the transformation was total. He could even manipulate the black scales that emerged, merging them to form a dagger or an arm guard.

"Amazing rules... if I could gain more, would I be able to control cells or even the core of life itself?"

Richard's mind filled with possibilities, but he quickly shelved these fantasies. The concept of rules was still distant; acquiring even a fragment was a stroke of luck.

Searching the basement, Richard found a notebook and several magic stones in the mad wizard's magic pouch. As for the steel wand, he had no intention of selling it—it was too crude, embarrassing even.

In the mad wizard's notes, Richard discovered records of an ancient magic, seemingly capable of communicating with beings from other worlds. It seemed this magic had led the apprentice to the Crimson Lord.

Returning to the surface, Richard instructed Spencer to douse the underground hall with oil and burn it before entering again.

"This is for your own good," Richard said earnestly, patting Spencer on the shoulder.

The clash between the mysterious wizard and the World Lord had turned the hall into a sea of blood, with organs and flesh mixed together. Even Richard would have nightmares for days.

After completing the mission, Richard took a flyer back to the academy and reported everything to Jolord.

"A World Lord!" Jolord exclaimed, jumping from his chair upon hearing Richard's report. He circled Richard, finding his student only slightly weakened in magical aura but otherwise unharmed. Surviving an encounter with a World Lord with such minor injuries was astonishing.

After his inspection, Jolord gave Richard a thumbs up.

"Surviving a World Lord encounter... my student, you're even more impressive than your teacher."

Richard smiled shyly, then inquired about the mysterious wizard.

"The wizard you encountered is likely a Guardian of the Wizarding World, an enforcer from the legal department. Their rank in the legal department must be quite high."

"A Guardian of the World?" Richard asked, intrigued.

"They are the World Lords of the wizarding world. In the astral realm, becoming a level-four creature, a Grand Wizard, can be achieved in various ways. The most common is gaining the world's recognition, being filled with the world's primordial power, and becoming a Guardian of the World," Jolord explained.

"This method grants increased combat power within the protected world but significantly reduces strength outside it. It's a trade-off. Most World Lords we encounter in other world conquests are of this nature."

"I see, no wonder I felt no fear, only familiarity, when I saw that wizard," Richard mused.

Jolord snorted, "You felt familiarity because you haven't broken any laws. If you had, you'd feel terror, not closeness."

Richard chuckled, saying no more.

But inwardly, he unraveled a knot. As a transmigrator, it seemed he had been accepted by the wizarding world.

After submitting his mission report, the academy highly praised Richard's actions, rewarding him with an additional thousand magic stones on top of the original two thousand.

Richard took the reward calmly.

A thousand magic stones? I can earn that in two months, he thought.

Back at the academy, Richard resumed his normal life. However, he began exchanging knowledge about synthetic beasts with Jolord.

The Rule of Flesh granted Richard the ability to manipulate flesh, a power currently limited to his own body. By combining this ability with the muscle structure knowledge from synthetic beasts, Richard significantly enhanced his combat prowess.

Richard felt this ability held more potential than he currently utilized, with deeper aspects waiting to be explored.

Additionally, Richard studied the World Lord's tendril.

World Lord body fragments weren't rare in the wizarding world; Grand Wizards had slain countless World Lords in otherworldly battles. Fragments without residual rules could be bought by affluent wizards, making them common.

But for a wizard apprentice, this tendril was invaluable.

From the tendril, Richard obtained a form of living flesh, ideal for creating or enhancing synthetic beasts. Remarkably, the tendril's vitality was so strong that, with nutrient solution and magical support, it survived in the laboratory, continually producing living flesh.

Though the output was minimal, accumulated over time, it became a substantial asset.

Using this living flesh and the synthetic beast knowledge from Jolord, Richard devised a modification plan for his death messenger crow, Foggy.
