Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Enhancing Foggy

Synthetic beasts are an ancient craft. In primitive times, they were a forbidden technology used by some wizards to create slaves. During the Enlightenment, this ancient craft developed significantly due to warfare, with many synthetic beasts used as cannon fodder in wizard wars.

In today's era of exploration, mastering the creation of synthetic beasts is essential knowledge for every academy.

Creating a synthetic beast involves three steps: first, cultivating a synthetic beast core; second, preparing active flesh and various body parts; third, using an alchemy array to assemble these components.

Richard had previously attempted to create synthetic beasts, but he lacked natural talent in this area. His best efforts merely replicated textbook examples without any personal innovation.

However, that level of proficiency was sufficient for Richard's current needs.

In the laboratory, Richard, wearing magnifying glasses, meticulously inscribed runes on a black stone platform using a quill pen.

Creating a synthetic beast requires an alchemy array, and enhancing one requires it as well.

After inscribing 3,750 runes, Richard let out a sigh of relief.

Inscribing runes is no easy task. Using alchemical ink requires continuously infusing the quill with magic. This process must remain stable; any fluctuation in magic could cause the quill to explode, and worse, damage the platform, necessitating its replacement.

"With the alchemy array done, it's time for the operation."

A year and a half had passed since Richard's mission, during which the flesh tendril had produced 1,500 grams of high-quality active flesh. This flesh is incredibly resilient, rated at level three active by the Wizard Guild, with a market price of ten magic stones per gram.

Richard retrieved a transparent quartz tube from his magic pouch, which contained a piece of writhing flesh.

"Foggy."

He called softly, and a black crow flew to him from the side of the lab.

"This flesh could sell for 15,000 magic stones outside. I'm investing heavily in your enhancement, so you better make it worth it," Richard muttered as he placed Foggy on the examination table and administered a dose of anesthetic.

Once the anesthetic took effect, Richard moved Foggy to the dissection table and donned a pair of low-light vision goggles.

Jolord's techniques lacked shadowless lamps, so Richard used these goggles to counteract the shadows.

Securing Foggy's limbs, Richard used a razor to remove feathers from its spine, then deftly sliced open its back with a scalpel.

Rich red blood, quivering muscles—Richard observed calmly, then opened the quartz tube and extracted the active flesh by hand.

Active flesh has a parasitic nature, merging with any flesh it contacts to become part of the host. Generally, wizards avoid direct contact with active flesh.

But Richard was an exception.

Once the active flesh began to merge, Richard used his flesh manipulation ability to take control.

Under his command, the active flesh entered Foggy's body through the wound, attaching to the muscles. This would enhance Foggy's physique and regeneration abilities.

Typically, implanting active flesh is a lengthy, tedious process due to its chaotic spread, requiring the wizard to manually place it within various muscle groups.

However, with his flesh manipulation skill, Richard needed only one incision to direct the active flesh precisely where he wanted.

Once the active flesh was in place, Richard didn't immediately sever his connection. Instead, he retrieved a rune-inscribed white bone fragment from his pocket.

"A first-ring spell, Light Warp. With Foggy's black feathers, he'll be a master scout in the woods."

Richard admired the metal piece, an idea he had since installing the magic gun.

The first-ring spell Light Warp grants a slight invisibility effect, nearly indistinguishable from a third-ring invisibility spell in shadows.

Richard never intended for Foggy to engage in direct combat. Stealth and reconnaissance were his true talents.

Inserting the spell component into the wound, Richard controlled the active flesh to fix it in place. Fine tendrils of flesh wove through the bone fragment's pores, securing it firmly within Foggy.

With everything complete, Richard used the scalpel to sever his connection to the active flesh, stitched the wound, and placed Foggy on the newly prepared alchemy platform.

As magic infused the array, it began facilitating Foggy's assimilation of the active flesh. This was a lengthy and risky process.

Assimilating active flesh carries a risk of failure. If it fails, the flesh can either die, losing its activity, or worse, rebel and consume the host, becoming akin to cancer cells.

Richard locked the lab door and hung a "Do Not Disturb" sign.

With Foggy's enhancement in progress, Richard returned to his room and picked up a book, "Basic Alchemical Mechanics," to study.

Alchemical mechanics is one of the most widely applied branches of alchemy. From the magic airship Richard traveled on to the floating cities used in wizard world conquests, all are achievements of alchemical mechanics.

However, Jolord had few books on alchemical mechanics.

As a wizard focused on synthetic beasts, Jolord had little affinity for alchemical mechanics.

It's like the difference between genetic ascension and mechanical ascension: one views the body as the most perfect natural creation, while the other sees machinery's durability and capacity as the future of evolution.

These perspectives have fundamentally irreconcilable differences.

Despite this, Jolord was frustrated that, except for Chax, neither Anna nor Richard had talent in synthetic beasts. In fact, Anna showed remarkable aptitude in alchemical mechanics. To prevent wasting her talent, Jolord begrudgingly allowed Anna to study it.

As a teacher, Jolord's dedication to his students was commendable.

Alchemical mechanics offered Richard significant insights, especially when he read about an alchemical wizard proposing a concept similar to the magic gun, noting that the essence of the Ice Spike spell is physical damage. It felt like meeting a kindred spirit.

Unfortunately, Jolord's library on alchemical mechanics was limited, and Richard's time was constrained. To make substantial progress in alchemical mechanics, he would have to wait until he became a wizard.

"Becoming a wizard... it all hinges on the exchange competition in six months.

Winning the competition means becoming a wizard ten years early!"
