Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 95: Chapter 95: Apprentice War (Conclusion)

The introduction of rationing and small corps strategies led to a rapid decrease in white wizard apprentice casualties. Orey quickly shared these methods with the other two academies, Aurora and Frostwind, which adopted the same policies.

Additionally, the white wizard apprentices learned magical pet reconnaissance, making black wizard ambushes increasingly difficult.

"Richard, the ambush strategy has failed," Aldo remarked, looking over the latest reports, which showed no progress from the ten black wizard squads over the past month.

"Failure was expected; it's not hard to counter," Richard replied calmly from his seat.

"So what's our next move? Are we just going to wait out the white wizards?" Anderson, sitting next to Richard, inquired.

"We've dragged this out for three months already. If this continues, the white wizards will only accumulate more magic stones."

Richard remained composed, showing no signs of panic.

"Why panic? We have a plan."

"What plan?" Anderson and Aldo asked simultaneously, puzzled.

"I've been working on something recently, and it's about ready," Richard said, leading them to a corner room in the camp.

Inside, several alchemy apprentices were busily crafting something.

"Is this... alchemical weaponry?" Aldo recalled the alchemical mana cannon they encountered at Keeper Academy, which had substantial deterrent power, taking out an apprentice with each shot.

However, even with a dozen such cannons, it wouldn't solve their current predicament. They were up against the white wizard corps, who were no longer the cowardly apprentices that fled after losing a few companions. After being tempered by war, even the weakest had become usable fighters.

"Good eye."

Richard praised, guiding them to a corner where several wooden crates were neatly stacked, exuding no magical aura.

He opened them, revealing several black iron rods.

"What are these?" Anderson couldn't help but ask.

He felt no magical aura from these "iron rods."

"Shells."

Richard uttered a term unfamiliar to both of them.

"Shells? You mean these are for the alchemical mana cannon?" Aldo asked, puzzled.

In his understanding, the alchemical mana cannon fired energy, not physical shells.

"No, no, these aren't for the mana cannon. These are my invention, which I call Oblivion Shells."

Richard took out an Oblivion Shell from the box.

The shell was cylindrical, with a conical tip, coated in a layer of black metal, seemingly unremarkable.

However, those knowledgeable would recognize the metal as extremely expensive antimagic material, explaining the absence of magical aura.

"Don't underestimate these. If they explode, none of us would escape," Richard said matter-of-factly.

Anderson and Aldo exchanged glances, skeptical that these could kill them.

"Well, explaining is pointless," Richard said, returning the shell to the box, dismissing the topic. "Black Tower Academy is at the public resource point, so the white wizards will likely attack me. Just defend your points."

"No need for reinforcements?" Aldo's soul fire flickered at Richard's seemingly arrogant claim, thinking he could defeat the white wizard corps with some small invention.

"This isn't the time for boasting. If we lose, we'll all face consequences back at the academy."

"Don't worry, Black Tower has nearly 400 apprentices, comparable to your numbers," Richard assured calmly.

"Very well, let's rely on our own abilities then," Aldo said, giving Richard a deep look before leaving the room with Anderson.

...

With the white wizard apprentices shifting strategies, the three black wizard academies recalled their squads. With no tricks left, it was time for a direct confrontation.

In the fifth month of the war, following the delivery of magic stones, Orey decided to launch an attack. Aurora and Frostwind Academies joined Keeper Academy in advancing together.

The white wizard corps marched grandly to Keeper Academy's resource point. By this time, the apprentices had developed basic battlefield competence, with some reaching elite status.

"Everyone! Today is a good day."

Orey flew into the sky, the white wizard corps assembled neatly below.

"Today, our magic stones have arrived. The day for revenge has come!

Over the past four months, many of us have fought the black wizard apprentices. Our friends, family, and even lovers have died at their hands.

We go to sleep with tears, our deceased kin and friends constantly asking us in dreams.

When will we avenge them?

Today, we can finally answer them!

Today, we will avenge them!

We'll blast those damn black wizard apprentices to pieces with spells, burn them to ashes with fire, and char them with lightning!

Today, we seek revenge!"

As Orey finished, a voice rose from somewhere, spreading like a plague through the white wizard corps.

"Revenge!"

"Revenge!!"

"Revenge!!!"

...

The situation at the white wizard resource point was relayed precisely to Richard through Foggy.

Foggy's high altitude and inherent spells allowed it to evade most apprentices' detection.

"The battle is finally beginning," Richard murmured.

The war was finally reaching its conclusion.

"Assemble! All apprentices assemble!"

Richard exited his room, quickly gathering the apprentices at the resource point.

"Everyone, the white wizard apprentices are launching their final assault!"

Richard hovered in the air, scanning the black wizard apprentices below with a calm gaze.

"Over there, they've declared vengeance, swearing to obliterate us.

I wanted to rally with a slogan, but we're black wizards. We've long been accustomed to death.

So I came up with a new slogan.

Survive!

Everyone!

We understand the value of life more than those white wizards from the greenhouse. Every one of us has survived by stepping over others' corpses.

Our goal in this war is simple: to survive, no matter what it takes!"

Richard's words echoed like a spell through the resource point.

Soon, the black wizard apprentices were infected by Richard's fervor, shouting in turn. It was as if they were venting their discontent with the world, their grievances with the academy, their hatred of fate.

They were ghouls, surviving on others' corpses.

They refused to discard the life they had struggled so hard to obtain!

"Survive!"

"Survive!!"

"Survive!!!"

...

The war began.

According to their plan, Richard dispatched ten alchemy apprentices to trigger the magical traps.

These apprentices were equipped with the best stealth gear, to evade detection by the white wizard corps' magical pets.

For this, Richard, the affluent alchemy apprentice, signed a contract with those who offered their gear.

If their gear was damaged in the war, Richard promised to personally craft a replacement for them.

The white wizard corps split into two groups at the resource point. A smaller group bypassed Richard's point, aiming to besiege the resource points of Void and Annihilation Academies and occupy the two vacant points.

The larger group advanced toward Richard's resource point.

"Quite a number," Richard noted, observing the white wizard corps on the ground, numbering 1,600 strong.

After the first day's battle and subsequent black wizard raids, the white wizard corps totaled over 2,700.

The white wizard corps formed ranks, advancing steadily toward the resource point.

Numerous magical pets were released to scout for ambushes ahead.

"They've entered the trap zone," Richard murmured.

Over the months, the black wizard faction had been busy, with Richard's alchemy apprentices setting countless magical traps in the forest. Individually, they weren't powerful, but in combination, they could give the white wizards a hard time.

Boom!

Magical traps detonated, instantly shattering several white apprentices.

The apprentices sent to trigger the traps were adept at stealth, eluding the magical pet scouts of the white wizard corps.

"Traps, halt advance!"

Orey commanded, bringing the white wizard corps to a stop in the forest.

"Triggered traps?" Orey sneered.

"Follow my command, front, carpet bombing, Fireballs ready!"

"Fire!"

In an instant, hundreds of fireballs descended on the forest before the white wizard corps, turning it into a sea of flames. The traps set by the alchemy apprentices either detonated or were rendered ineffective.

"That's a bit troublesome," Richard thought, observing the now-savvy white wizard corps, somewhat regretting the wasted traps.

The white wizard corps continued forward, advancing slowly over the scorched earth left by the spell bombardment.

Without magical traps, Richard had no effective means of attrition, forced to wait until the white wizard corps entered his range.

"Bring it over," Richard gestured, as two apprentices approached with a black long tube adorned with silver runes.

He stood atop the wall, with nearly 400 black wizard apprentices evenly distributed among the defenses.

"Boss, should we use it now?" one apprentice asked nervously.

Over the past days, these apprentices had worked with Doug in the corner of the resource point, crafting Richard's secret weapon.

Thus, they had a deeper understanding of these weapons than others.

They knew the terrifying power of what they had made.

"Not yet, wait until the white wizard corps get closer," Richard replied confidently.

After a while, the white wizard corps had advanced to within three kilometers of the resource point.

"Boss, is that close enough?" the apprentice asked again.

Richard nodded. "Yes, fire a few test rounds to calibrate."

"Yes, sir!" the apprentice replied excitedly.

...

In the forest, the white wizard corps advanced methodically, eradicating any ambushes with their spell bombardment.

Suddenly, a black metal object fell from the sky.

"What is that?"

The defensive wizards quickly erected magical barriers, blocking the object.

But it showed no signs of magic, nor any movement.

An apprentice handed it to Orey for inspection.

"A metal piece from the sky?" Orey examined the object, puzzled.

With his knowledge, he couldn't discern its purpose.

"Bartolas, take a look."

Bartolas took the metal piece, probing it with his magic.

"Aside from its odd shape, it's just a hunk of metal," Bartolas concluded.

"Strange," Orey muttered. "Why would the black wizards fire a useless metal piece?"

"Fire..."

The word sparked a thought in Bartolas' mind.

He recalled seeing something similar in his mentor's books.

"Orey, I have a suspicion," Bartolas hesitated. "The black wizards might be calibrating."

"Calibrating? For what, long-range magic attacks?" Orey speculated.

"Maybe..." Bartolas replied uncertainly. "But against defensive wizards, only military-grade magic could..."

Whiz—

A black shell struck the defensive wizard's barrier, then... Boom!

The shell exploded into a blinding white light, followed by a deafening roar.

Boom!

The defensive apprentices were annihilated by the shell's power, the blast wave injuring many others.

"What is this?"

Orey was stunned, seeing the defensive magic shattered and the massive casualties inflicted.

But before he could process it, another shell hit.

Boom!

This shell contained additional materials, spewing dark red metal streams that pierced dozens of apprentices.

Then a third shell, a fourth!

Shells rained down relentlessly, each with devastating power.

Under the barrage of Oblivion Shells, the white wizard corps was forced to disperse, minimizing losses.

Orey stood, dumbfounded, watching the carnage.

Such a weapon... how could it appear on an apprentice battlefield?

Orey wasn't alone in his disbelief. A grand consciousness descended upon the secret realm.

It froze the battlefield's time and space, collecting the shells with a wave of its hand.

Then its voice echoed in every apprentice's mind.

"I am the Dean of Frostwind Wizard Academy, the Great Wizard of Frostwind. Due to unforeseen circumstances, this war is now terminated. All apprentices will be transported out of the secret realm in three minutes."

With that, the grand consciousness took Richard and vanished from the realm.
