Chapter 10: 010 Doubts About the Nine-Tails Incident
"Izanagi, Izanami?"
Hearing the system's notification sound, Night Star felt a little surprised.
These two are both forbidden techniques of the Uchiha clan, requiring the loss of vision in one Sharingan eye as the cost to activate.
The effect of Izanagi is that, once cast, it can erase any unfavorable reality for the caster within a certain period of time.
When Danzo used this technique, its duration was one minute.
However, the exact duration of Izanagi depends on the caster's own Sharingan prowess.
Izanami, on the other hand, is used to forcibly brainwash the enemy and was referred to by Itachi Uchiha as a technique capable of altering fate.
Both forbidden techniques are incredibly powerful.
The problem, however, is that he hasn't even awakened his Sharingan yet.
Fortunately, there's also a significantly enhanced Fire Release talent, which can be immediately put to use.
Thinking of this, Night Star raised his head and looked at Asuma with a kind smile on his face.
"Asuma, as the youngest son of the Third Hokage, you should speak responsibly. Don't spout nonsense and make false accusations."
Hearing how Night Star addressed him, Asuma's expression darkened noticeably.
What he hated most in his life was being referred to as the youngest son of the Third Hokage, as if he were always living in his father's shadow.
"Hmph, am I spouting nonsense?"
Asuma clenched his teeth tightly, his eyes almost bleeding with anger.
"That night when the Nine-Tails rampaged, everyone saw it—its eyes displayed the pattern of the three-tomoe Sharingan. How do you explain that!?"
Asuma's loud voice naturally attracted the attention of nearby passersby.
When the villagers heard him mention that night a year ago, their expressions turned sorrowful. Looking at Night Star, who bore the Uchiha clan emblem, their gazes seemed to burn with rage.
Sensing the faint hostility from the people around them, Kurenai Yuhi pressed her red lips together, reached out, and tugged on Night Star is sleeve, softly advising him.
"Let's talk somewhere else. There's no need to argue with them here."
Asuma didn't hear exactly what Kurenai said, but seeing her intimate, almost coquettish gesture made him even more upset.
"The Sharingan pattern?"
Night Star chuckled lightly, took a step forward, and stood in front of Asuma, looking down at him. He spoke calmly.
"So, what you mean to say is that someone from the Uchiha clan used the Sharingan to control the Nine-Tails?"
"What else could it be!? Faced with such irrefutable evidence, are you still going to deny it!?"
Night Star glanced at the surrounding villagers and slowly spoke.
"You people truly don't use your brains at all."
Then, he turned his gaze back to Asuma and asked calmly.
"In the history of the Hidden Leaf Village and even the entire ninja world, how many people can forcibly control the Nine-Tails without becoming its Jinchuriki?"
Asuma didn't quite understand the intent of the question. Frowning impatiently, he replied.
"Do you even need to ask? Isn't it just Uchiha Madara? As a member of the Uchiha clan, how could you not know this?"
Night Star shrugged and smiled lightly.
"Exactly."
Asuma looked confused.
"Exactly what?"
Night Star is smile faded, and he spoke in a flat tone.
"What you're implying is that our Uchiha clan produced someone whose eye power rivals that of Uchiha Madara, capable of forcibly controlling the Nine-Tails."
"And yet, after the Nine-Tails rampage, during the weakest moment of the Hidden Leaf Village, we Uchiha, with such a powerful individual in our ranks, took no action whatsoever. We even obeyed the higher-ups' orders and relocated to the outskirts of the village."
"Even the most brainless person can see that this logic doesn't hold up, don't you think?"
Hearing this, the crowd fell silent.
Even Asuma couldn't think of a suitable argument to refute.
As Night Star said, if the Uchiha clan truly had a powerhouse capable of forcibly controlling the Nine-Tails, why would they do nothing during the village's weakest moment?
It simply didn't make sense.
Seeing Asuma's conflicted expression, Night Star jotted down his thoughts in his journal.
[This Asuma Sarutobi really isn't very bright.]
[He doesn't even consider that if the Uchiha clan were truly the culprits behind controlling the Nine-Tails, the fox's actions that night wouldn't have been random destruction. It would've specifically targeted the territories of other clans in the village.]
[Moreover, having Minato Namikaze as the Fourth Hokage was a good thing for the Uchiha clan.]
[One of his three disciples is Obito Uchiha, and his wife, Kushina Uzumaki, the Nine-Tails' Jinchuriki, treated Obito like her own child.]
[This shows that these two harbored no inherent bias or prejudice against the Uchiha.]
[So, what would the Uchiha gain from going through all the trouble of killing them?]
[Could it be that the cunning Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, failed to see this?]
[Or perhaps…]
[He understood that the Uchiha weren't the true culprits behind the Nine-Tails rampage but deliberately guided the villagers' resentment toward them as a scapegoat?]
