You Are Deep in The Stars

Chapter 79 - Negotiation II

“Does the old man live alone in such a fashionable and high-tech building?” Liu Chunchun asked in surprise. “Why doesn’t he move to a quiet park community?”

“Maybe it’s because he misses his children,” Han Zhuo sighed sympathetically.

“Then I’ll send it down. Brother Han, you’ve been busy all day. What’s the number on the eighth floor?” Liu Chunchun wiped his hands on his apron.

Never! Bai Xi suddenly sat up straight. “I’ll go!”

“Let Xiao Bai go,” Mr. Han also suggested gently. “They’re very familiar with each other, and they can also… have a heart-to-heart talk.”

The cooked dumplings were put into the lunch box, hot and exuding a charming fragrance. Liu Chunchun also specially cooked a bowl of egg soup to supplement nutrition for the lonely old man.

“Okay, okay, don’t spoil him too much,” Bai Xi patted his shoulder.

Liu Chunchun said, “Ah?”

“Old people don’t want to eat too much, they’re prone to getting drunk.” Bai Xi went out with the lunch box in one hand, pretended to walk around the elevator entrance, then knocked on the door next door like a thief.

Leftover takeout boxes from lunch were piled randomly on the table. The lobster and clams were wrapped in solidified sauce, which looked messy, luxurious, and wasteful. Mr. Wang’s condition wasn’t good either. He had just taken a shower. His half-dry hair was tied back in a mess and dripping water. He was wearing a large white sweater and looked a little listless.

“It’s time to eat,” Bai Xi handed him the lunch box. “Chunchun cooked it.”

“Thank you.” Wang Yuanchen wasn’t surprised. He had just heard the conversation next door.

Bai Xi didn’t go back, but pulled out a chair and sat across from him.

“You can scold me, but I don’t want to talk, and I don’t need it,” Wang Yuanchen’s voice was very calm, but there was an inexplicable decadence in it. He said, “I know where my problem lay.”

“Where?” Bai Xi took the opportunity to ask.

Wang Yuanchen pointed to his heart.

“Are you mentally defective?” Bai Xi held his head with one hand. “I think you are too.”

“Is there any hope?” Wang Yuanchen answered casually. He took out the silver cutlery from the lobster plate, forked a dumpling, and put it into his mouth. The simplest stuffed lotus root and fresh meat, the two of them had eaten together many times before when they lived together. The familiar taste reopened his taste buds, making his empty stomach finally feel warm, and the sharp tingling disappeared without a trace.

“In short, don’t even think about meeting Chunchun again until you pass the health psychological test,” Bai Xi emphasized.

Wang Yuanchen smiled, raised his head, and said, “Thank you.”

Bai Xi was stunned. “Thank me for what?”

“I know I did a bad job in this matter. Thank you for accompanying him,” Wang Yuanchen said. “After solving the trouble at hand, I will go and apologize to him in person.”

He was used to seeing the arrogant and high-profile Mr. Wang, but suddenly he had become so calm, humble, and unpretentious, which made Bai Xi not know how to respond. The room was very quiet, except for the small sound of the silver fork occasionally hitting the lunch box. Bai Xi ate two more dumplings with him. The words he had prepared before seemed to deflate, and he completely lost the motivation to speak—because as Wang Yuanchen said, he actually knew deeply what the problem was and didn’t need other people’s enlightenment or education.

“Then I’ll go back first,” Bai Xi stood up. “Have a good meal… have you finished it?” He looked at the lunch box, which was emptying in seconds, and was shocked. “Do you want more?”

“I’m full, thank you.” Wang Yuanchen pushed the lunch box over.

Xiao Bai looked at him affectionately.

Three seconds later, Mr. Wang put the lunch box back silently.

“Wash it yourself.”

.

During dinner, Liu Chunchun had taken the initiative to offer warmth dinner to the poor lonely old man every night.

Han Zhuo readily agreed. “I would like to thank you on his behalf.”

Bai Xi kicked off the table.

Liu Chunchun’s eyes were filled with tears. “Brother Bai, why are you kicking me?”

Bai Xi: “…”

Sorry, the kick was crooked.

Then he changed the subject and said, “You are not allowed to go to work this week, and the same goes for working from home.”

“It’s okay to work from home, but I can’t live here all the time and let Brother Han sleep on the sofa every day.” Liu Chunchun put down his chopsticks. “Brother Bai, I want to rent a house by myself in the community near the company. What do you think? How about that?” He didn’t mention his own house shared with Wang Yuanchen, firstly because his 5 million falling from the sky always lacked a sense of reality, and secondly, there were sparkling diamonds and crystals everywhere, and personal traces that couldn’t be ignored. He would have to change them when he went back, and it wasn’t convenient to take the subway three times.

“I don’t mind sleeping on the sofa at all,” Mr. Han took the initiative to speak before he was kicked this time. “Before you came, I often slept on the sofa. The living room is breathable.”

“Yes,” Bai Xi also said. “You can live here.”

“Are you worried that if I go out alone, the pervert who kidnapped me before will come again?” Liu Chunchun took a step back. “Or I can rent the next door, at least it won’t disturb your lives too much. Is it still vacant now?”

Mr. Xiao Bai and Mr. Han had a tacit understanding and shook their heads collectively.

Liu Chunchun: “…”

He wanted to say something more, but Bai Xi was already holding his head with one hand, sighing haggardly and tiredly, and said, “Old Han, as the old saying goes, you can only keep a child until they grow up.”

“Don’t leave.” Han Zhuo smiled and said to Liu Chunchun, “If you continue like this, Xiao Bai will be unhappy.”

Liu Chunchun didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, but he was inexplicably moved. His mood was so complicated that he almost cried when his nose felt sore.

“No, no, no, don’t be emotional.” Bai Xi quickly grabbed his shoulders and shook him hard. “Let’s do this: you can stay at least another month and help me pay the water, electricity, and property bills. Once your injury is completely healed, how about we discuss moving out? There are so many empty rooms in this apartment building. The worst thing is that we can rent another one on another floor.”

The proposal was very sincere, and Liu Chunchun was finally willing to nod. “Okay, thank you, Brother Bai.”
