Chapter 79 - Negotiation I
“Of course, since she’s your bartender, this experiment will not continue.” Shi Tian motioned for the experimenter to come in and remove the light blue infusion tubes from Linda’s body. “I just wanted to express my gratitude to Linda. We could prove that this little girl is not invincible and that I could make her disappear at any time.”
“I have never doubted the capabilities of the underground warehouse or your despicableness,” Han Zhuo said coldly. “I want to take her away.”
“Aspis seemed to trust you very much.” Shi Tian did not comment on Linda’s matter anymore but changed the topic. “Whether it was to be a human bodyguard or to take the initiative to see me in recent times, it was all because of your requirements.”
“Do you want me to urge him to accept you, or to persuade him to return to the underground warehouse?” There was obvious ridicule in Han Zhuo’s tone.
“I knew this was impossible. After all, I couldn’t even convince you,” Shi Tian shook his head and glanced at the girl on the hospital bed again. “I just wanted to know who her maker was, or at least where was he right now—a city where others might not be able to answer the question, but Aspis certainly could.”
“You really worked hard,” Han Zhuo sat on the sofa. “What’s the logic? Aspis wouldn’t refuse my proposal, and Linda wouldn’t refuse Aspis’s request? But why should I agree to your conditions?”
“The metal distribution in her body was really perfect. It wasn’t just science but art.” Shi Tian clicked on the surrounding screens, letting Linda’s body structure emerge in the air. The silver-white materials were tightly interlocked, sticking to the bones, with no gaps in the joints, just like a metal warrior from the future world.
“Not just these, this is her blood test report.” Shi Tian slid out another test sheet. “Did you see these small balls? They could eat up most known viruses, just like filters growing inside the blood vessels. And it was all man-made.”
Although Linda had managed to escape smoothly every time she was captured by her pursuers, she always left behind new experimental data in the underground warehouse while escaping. She was like a mysterious mine, with every tube of blood, every scan, bringing new surprises.
“These were Qian Ning’s research results. I made some changes.” Shi Tian pointed at the remaining half bag of blue liquid with his finger. “If you hadn’t appeared, I would have used these viruses to paralyze her. Then, a lot of precious information could have been obtained by conducting subsequent anatomical research while preserving her life.”
“And now you are more interested in her father,” Han Zhuo said.
“I’m really curious,” Shi Tian knocked on Linda’s isolation cover. “I’m curious about how many superpower researchers there are in this world that I don’t know about. Of course, trash like Wu Zigang is not included.”
“I can take her away by force,” Han Zhuo reminded.
“You could indeed do this, and you could even take more people away by force.” Shi Tian smiled and shook his head, asking his assistant to bring in two glasses of wine. “But they had all been injected with drugs, especially this little metal monster. If there was no KH-09 instrument to maintain life, the virus would immediately control her brain stem, and she would become… a zombie or a mummy.”
“Mr. Han,” the assistant bent down and handed the tray to him. “This is your favourite vodka.”
“I always remembered your preferences, and Aspis, even though you were both extremely naughty and wilful,” Shi Tian sat opposite him. “How about you? Are you willing to accept my proposal and let Aspis come here every day to chat with this poor little girl? Is this a fair deal? I just need to know who her maker is, and in exchange, I can guarantee that neither your employer nor his friends will receive any threats from underground warehouse again for at least the last three years.”
“What if I refuse?” Han Zhuo asked.
“Then I won’t hurt you, let alone Aspis.” Shi Tian put the empty wine glass on the tray and motioned to his assistant to fill it up. “But this poor, sleepy little thing would become my most important experimental subject. Maybe, on the bright side, her maker would come to her.” When he said this, he paused for a moment before continuing, “Or do you want to take her away by force? A zombie bomb with huge energy returning to human society. Unless you end her life yourself, it would definitely cause turmoil. By then, the relationship between the government and superpowers would be difficult for you and me to control.”
“You are really good at business,” Han Zhuo shook his head.
“That’s because I have always been sincere to you,” Shi Tian picked up the wine glass and touched it with him in the air. “Don’t worry, Qian Ning’s virus is not irreversible. I can make her recover at any time.”
.
When Han Zhuo returned to his apartment on Xinghai Road, Bai Xi had been watching the excitement in the kitchen. Nearly a hundred dumplings were neatly placed on the chopping board, all chubby and round.
“Brother Han, you’re back,” Liu Chunchun said. “You can eat soon.”
“Let me state in advance that I stopped him, but he refused to go back to sleep.” Bai Xi raised his hands to clear himself of the suspicion of abusing patients, then pulled Han Zhuo into the study and asked in a low voice, “How was it?”
“I had just been to the next door,” Han Zhuo said. “It was very good. All the furniture was intact, no one was on hunger strike, and he even ordered lobster takeout for himself.”
Bai Xi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “I’m talking to you about business.”
“You mean the underground warehouse?” Han Zhuo nodded. “It was pretty much what we expected. Yuanchen had an excuse to go to the laboratory every day. The only thing that wasn’t good was that Linda seemed to have lost her superpowers and was completely comatose.”
“What should we do?” Bai Xi asked worriedly. “Is there any danger?”
“I’ll try to minimize the risk.” Han Zhuo held his shoulders and turned around. “Let’s talk about this again in the evening. Now it’s time to eat. You’re responsible for diverting attention. I’ll steal some dumplings and send them to the next door.”
Bai Xi: “…”
Bai Xi said, “But I’m still angry with that Mr. Wang.”
“You can severely criticize and educate him, but at least he must be fed.” Han Zhuo sincerely analysed the pros and cons. “Think about it, if he faints from hunger, we’ll have to send him to the hospital. It’ll be very troublesome.”
“I can see it,” Mr. Xiao Bai said quietly. “You’re just working together.”
“No, I promise to be absolutely loyal to you.” Han Zhuo pushed him all the way to the dining room, sat down on the chair, and took the initiative to go to the kitchen to help cook the dumplings. He asked gently, “Can I take some away?”
Hey hey hey! Bai Xi’s eyes widened when he heard this. Why did you start stealing dumplings openly before he came to divert the chef’s attention?!
“…Of course, but where are you going to take it?” Liu Chunchun was puzzled.
Bai Xi laid on the dining table and sighed loudly. “Cough!”
“Send it downstairs. There’s a poor, lonely old man living on the eighth floor.” Mr. Han replied quite calmly. “Xiao Bai and I often send some food there.”
Bai Xi: “…”
