Chapter 8: Chapter 8
Looking at the price for the weapons, she saw that they were priced stupidly high. About 2 sliver on average a piece. 'There must be another reason for why they are wasting money on it, maybe a quest or something.' She reasoned to herself.
Opening her status, she saw that it was around 4 in the morning. The in game time seemed to be about five hours ahead, compared to her time in real life. Walking through the market place, she saw something that caught her eye, ahead of her was the angel who gave his bloodline to Lillia the streamer.
His radiant white wings outstretched into the sky, but the awe she was felt for his majesty was shattered, replaced by the bone-deep disgust of her people. Itching closer, to hear his speech, she felt flabbergasted. He was a fanatic.
Raving like a lunatic, he declared "The betrayel of Aeshal stung the noble race of Angels deep. Within this town, the traitorous blood of a Fallen Angel has emerged and must be purged. Come forth to be fixed with all of God's benevolent might." Hearing all this, only one thought came to Elya's head, 'maybe I shouldn't have told Cherry what my race was.'
Aeshal probably referred to the Tainted Angel which had created her. It was an odd situation that she had discarded in favour of her new skills. The old lady was an Angel, and with an educated guess, she had been corrupted by something. Something bad enough to twist an Angel.
That was the bloodline the lady had gifted her, but at the exact same time she had forced the demonic energy of the Ruby inside of her. This combined had created a Fallen Angel as she had two bloodlines, and so the system combined it into one.
Not only was the Fallen Angel bloodline rarer than Angels (probably because it requires an Angel and a Demon together and they are mortal enemies), but in her opinion it was much cooler. And suited her better.
The game, Ascended, didn't release much information about it prior to release but there was some. For example, the public were informed that there was atleast two arcs of the story. The first being the Player Arc, where every player would level up as quick as they could, accumulate as much items and money as they could before the second arc.
This had been dubbed the Bloodline Arc, where all players were put in control or could influence the control of the Kingdom of their bloodline. So for Elya, that would be the Fallen Angel Kingdom, if there was one. Some did not have their own, and so they could partner and command their race to fight for another or they could stay out of it all together.
Elya doubted her race had much of a Kingdom if they had any, the rarity of her race was as much of a boon as it was a blunder. Her best bet was building a strong alliance of friends who she could ally with. Especially because she is a Fallen Angel.
The ravings of an Angel just because he knew she existed said as much. And the Angels seemed powerful, Lillia was to become their queen and she seemed dedicated to become stronger for it.
Not to mention that demons also hated her race as well. Elya just had to hope her instinctive unholy magic was as strong as she hoped. In the mean time, she could only push herself to be strong to not be wiped out in the second arc.
'Finally!' She thought as she saw a kneeling twig-looking man with a quest marker above his head. Approaching him, she noticed on the patio where he was sitting was parchment spread about all covered in runes and carvings.
"Do you need help" She asked him politely, watching as he frantically stood up from his kneeling position to talk to her eye to eye.
"Ah yes, I can sense the arcane in your book although I am unsure if you would want to complete my quest" He replied just as politely but an uncomfortable tension in his shoulders and stance.
"Why not?" Elya wondered, was it hard or time-consuming. What NPC would urge you to not do their quest, it didn't make much sense.
"My quest requires you to dedicate yourself to the Arcane Arts, but in you I sense a different form of magic. I've never felt anything quite like it actually. Although that's not hard with you players, most of you are emboldened by some unknown skill." He mused to her, staring at her intensely, seemingly intrigued by her unholy magic.
"Would I not be able to devote myself to the Arcane Arts?" She asked the mage, she could still use the book. Well actually, she hadn't tried but there was no visual repersentation to say it's locked to her.
"Of course you can, but it'll bow to your innate magic. Only some of the Arcane would be avaliable to you." He answered her, which confused her a little, because was that not a good thing. Her abilities being more closely aligned.
"Would that not be good" She asked him, it would mean that all her skills could benefit from weapons that gave multiplers like her wings.
"Depends on your magic, you might find that no Arcane Arts are related to yours and you have wasted the magic you can learn. As you can only learn one, your bloodline magic not counting." The frail-looking man replied to her question. She knew her magic was exclusive and rare but it was also a combination of demonic and angelic magic right? So maybe there's some Arcane elements that come from it too.
Take the chance? Why not.
