Chapter 9: Chapter 9
Deciding to take his quest, she looked at the information provided by the mage.
[Arcane Devotion: With the ability of the Arcane in your hands, you must grasp it.
Description: Mage Luton has been given the task to teach Players about the Arcane, ask him to teach you about it.
Reward: Innate Arcane Magic, 1400 exp].
"Please teach me" Elya asked the mage after reading the quest.
"For you to devote yourself to the Arcane, you must know what it is." Inviting her inside, she stared at the barren house covered in runes and carvings. The walls, the floors and the ceiling were all meticulously embroidered with the same symbols.
"The Arcane is a force powered by many different tools, to twist reality into magic. Your [Arcane Spellbook] is an example of one of these items, except that it is universal.
All these items are categorised in three categories, Universal, Broad and Specific. Universal are the rarest, they are items that allow those who are not devoted to the Arcane to use it. Broad is the most common, almost everyone devoted to the Arcane can use this. Whereas, specific are for those who's Arcane Magic has been changed due to Bloodline abilities.
It's not hard to find a specific item, but it is hard to find one for yourself. These tools are built by Fabricators who enchant weapons to allow Mages to release their power. Although casting magic without one is not impossible, it is limited.
Many mages are qualified as Fabricators especially those with a need for specific tools. These runic symbols in this room have been widely studied by every single mage no matter their skills as they are the foundation of the Arcane itself.
This rune here, is called Aisewaz, it means direction. Without it carved into your tool, your spells would not strike true. And this one here is Yuzaz, it means intent. Without it, your tool would not know what spell you are intending to cast. In total, there is 46 runes that you need a rudimentary understanding of in order to devote yourself to the Arcane." He spoke, his voice commanding authority.
Handing her a leather-bound book, she opened it too see all 46 runes with there meanings, combinations and uses. As she scanned through the book a status update appeared in front of her.
[Rudimentary Runic information acquired, merging with Analysis Lv1].
[Analysis Lvl 1 has upgraded to Runic Sight Lvl 1].

Information: Evolved from Analysis Lvl 1].
Elya mentally cheered. This wasn't the first time she had seen someone's Analysis evolve. For example, certain Bloodlines like [Lesser Oracle] could evolve it into [Future Sight] and so could plenty of missions or objects.
Actually, while browsing the forums, she saw plenty of people who had [Runic Sight], as mage quests were quite popular. Mostly because people were trying to influence their class to achieve a mage one.
"I must applaud you, you are a fast learner. With the basics of runes understood, you can begin your Devotion to Arcane Magic." With his statement, the dormant runes on the walls began flickering purple.
"To devote yourself to the Arcane, you must accept the Arcane Magic inside you. You must provide it safe haven and let it infiltrate every part of you. Just open yourself up to it."
Listening to his words, she closed her eyes and felt as this energy prodded her sense. She just knew what she had to do. Taking a deep breath, she let it invade her lungs. As it swirled in her blood, knowing every part of her, she felt an indescribable itch in her back.
As it grew and grew, she released her wings. With a satisfying crunch, they unfolded behind her. Their majesty on full display. Luton, the mage, seemed bewildered by this development, but instead of speaking he conjured a body-sized mirror so she could witness what was happening to her wings.
The purple energy danced across them only for the triad of white, grey and black to force it backwards. Her unholy energy began tracing itself through all of her, merging with the Arcane that had settled in her body, changing it like the mage said it would.
Through all of this, her wings were left untouched. Purely unholy.
The end was nearing, with the tell-tale ding of system notifications. She recalled her wings back inside of her, the itch had disappeared completely. Replaced with an sense of awareness of the dormant unholy magic that had awakened to twist the Arcane into something alike.

Elya was not that surprised about this outcome, as her race was created from Angels and Demons and that influenced her, so it made sense that she'd be compatible (or averse) in some sense to their forms of magic.
"You are the Fallen Angel that Yuran was ranting about." He stated, looking at her with an intrigued look.
"Please don't tell anyone!" She begged. God knows what that fanatic would do if it found out about her. Could an NPC attack a player?
"I have no intention too, you will find that not many mages agree with the Angels." He responded, a kind smile on his face.
"You are a lucky one. If not for your the Demon energy within you, you would have been incompatible with the Arcane." He informed her. His face serious as he gestured for her to leave.
"Your Unholy energy was hidden in this room, but it's best to be safe. In this town, you can not be killed but out of it, he will try. Don't do any Unholy Magic in this town, he will sense it." He told Elya while almost pushing her out of the house.
