His only Cure

Chapter 12: Chapter 12

She put two portions on plates and sat down at the table. Darell moved closer to her, setting the first aid kit on the counter. She wanted to do it herself but he wouldn't let her. So without protest, she offered him her hand. He disinfected the cut finger, applied a plaster, and kissed her hand.

"Will you stop?!" Sophie got seriously angry.

"When you need to blow a sore spot" He smiled playfully.

"Blow, not kiss" She recalled his words.

"Should I blow on it?" He raised an eyebrow. Sophie took a deep breath.

"Eat before it gets cold" She said with a fake smile. The man started eating, glancing at the angry girl from time to time. After the meal, the plates ended up in the sink. He wrapped his arms around her waist from behind with one hand and placed the other on the counter

"Shooting range?" He laughed in her ear.

"Yes please!" Sophie replied immediately, hitting her hands on the counter, losing patience with him. He loved to irritate her. They left the apartment and drove his black BMW to the shooting range. Sophie couldn't wait to shoot. She was hoping he would offer to be a target again, but this time he decided to shoot with her.

After a few magazines, her anger began to fade and the competition began. Darell shot quite well. They started setting goals and places to shoot. After a while, they both bickered among themselves who was better. When she got into the car, Sophie was in a much better mood. She looked at Darell smugly smiling to himself and wanted to punch him in the shoulder.

"So what now? Will you take me to my apartment?" She asked, hoping that she would be able to relax at her place for a moment.

"Once we get this last thing done. Then I'll take you back" He patted her knee defiantly, which she quickly moved away. A few minutes later they stood in front of one of the brand stores. Surprised, Sophie looked at the man questioningly.

"In case you have to stay at my place, we need to buy you some clothes for work so that you don't have to get up in the morning and go back to your place to change" He explained before getting out of the car.

He was right. Knowing that this had happened before, it was better to be safe. They walked in together and Sophie started looking through the outfits. Seeing Darell sitting on the sofa, obviously bored, she decided to tease him a bit. She walked up to him, resting her hand next to his head and leaning into his ear.

"If you want, you can choose one outfit for me" She looked seductively at him and stepped back before he could catch her. With a victorious smile, she wagged her finger at him, showing that they were in the store.

"You're starting a dangerous game, Sophie" He said quietly, walking past her and choosing an outfit. Sophie chose two and went to the fitting room to check if they fit. Getting dressed, she went out to show herself to the man first.

"And? What do you think?" She turned around, spreading her arms.

"It suits you" He looked her up and down with his deep eyes. She did the same with the second one and received another approval. As she took off her clothes, standing in only her underwear, Darell suddenly walked in with an outfit in his hand.

"Are you crazy?! Go out!" She shouted in a whisper, wanting to turn him around and push him out of the dressing room.

"You let me choose. I want to see what you will look like" He handed her the clothes without taking his eyes off her.

"Then wait outside until I change" She huffed, taking the clothes from him and covering herself with them. Darell looked down at her with his piercing gaze and left. Sophie breathed a sigh of relief. Why did she always like to get into trouble seeing what he was like.

She dressed quickly. A smile appeared on her face seeing how good she looked in it. She left happily, turning around in front of him.

"I like it" Looking at the outfit, she unconsciously bit her lower lip sexily.

"Damn it, Sophie!" Darell growled, scaring the girl.

"I'm waiting in the car" He said briefly before leaving the store furiously.

Surprised, she stood there for a moment, wondering what could have happened to him. She changed, took three outfits with her and went to the cash register. There she learned that the costumes had already been paid for.

"Why did you pay? I can afford it" She asked as she got into the car, seeing Darell gripping the steering wheel tightly.

"You deserve it for being with me. Now stay quiet because I'm fighting the temptation to take you to my apartment and do things you don't want to know about" He threatened, pressing the gas pedal and driving away abruptly.

Sophie knew it was bad. She stared at the window on her right the whole way and tried not to flinch. He drove into the underground parking lot of her building and said a silent "Get out" without taking his eyes off the steering wheel. Sophie wanted to say "thank you" but she knew it was a bad time.

She quickly got out of the car, leaving her outfits in it. Darell was supposed to take them to his apartment.

He drove away in a hurry, leaving the girl in the parking lot. She slowly walked towards the elevator, deep in thought. She knew how to influence her boss. Everything was starting to happen very quickly. She just hoped that the next few days at work would calm him down and he would return to normal.

Sophie returned to the apartment and made herself something to eat. She spent the rest of the afternoon staring out the window overlooking his company. When it was dark outside, she shook off her thoughts and went to take a bath. The night passed peacefully.

In the morning she woke up to the sound of her phone buzzing. She rubbed her eyes, checking the time. It was almost five o'clock. Her phone displayed a notification from the bank that funds had been transferred to her account. With furrowed eyebrows, she began to check what was going on. Seeing the transfer from the company, she quickly dialed Darell's number.

"I'm listening" The man's hoarse voice sounded.

"Why did you send me money?" She asked, still a little sleepy.

"Bonus for very good performance at work. Your whole department got it. I reward employees for good work. What's weird about that?" He asked, surprised.

"Oh... I didn't know..." She felt a little embarrassed.

"Don't tell me you never got a bonus" He joked. For a moment there was only silence on the phone

"Sophie?"

"No... I never got a bonus, hmm" She purred, stretching on the bed. "Thank you, boss. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get ready for work. Goodbye" She hung up before the man could say anything.

She got out of bed, stretching a few more times before she started getting ready. She was happy knowing that it would be different here than at her old company. Sophie wasn't going to despair over how she was treated by her father. She was happy here now and she wasn't going to let anyone down. She will be an exemplary manager. With a good attitude, she went to start a new week at the company among new employees. Sitting at her desk, focused on her work, she didn't notice when the others started to come to the office.

"Hello Sophie!" Diana exclaimed happily, disturbing her from writing.

"Good morning, Diana" She smiled at the girl. "Hello everyone" She leaned out from behind the desk, seeing that everyone was already there. She heard several greetings.

Seeing the smiles and contentment on their faces, she knew Darell was telling the truth. They got down to work eagerly, not wasting time in chatting. From time to time, Sophie gave orders and showed what should be done. This time, when it was lunch time, Sophie decided to go with everyone, which gave them a nice surprise. Diana never left her side. She asked her a lot of questions and told her about various things. Sophie felt a little tired about it, but happy that someone wanted to talk to her about anything and everything.

The rest of the day passed quietly. When the other workers went home, Sophie stayed to do some more work. Some time later, someone walked into the marketing department. Sophie looked up from her laptop, noticing Noah with a briefcase in his hand.

"Miss Sophie, I have a task for you" He handed her a folder with documents. "The boss would like you to absorb this information and go with him to an important meeting tomorrow. You won't have to do anything. Just listen and, if necessary, write down what you think we should do" He informed the surprised woman.

"What time is the meeting?" She started looking through the file.

"Ten o'clock. It would be good if you were ready at nine and waiting for him at the reception"

"All right. I'll be ready at nine" She closed the folder with papers and packed it in her bag.
