Chapter 27: Death Of Kazekage

On the other side, Yuma and Kakashi successfully escaped from the capital of the Land of Wind.

Yuma, being a cautious individual, had already prepared for this mission by carving the Flying Thunder God seal outside the capital long ago. The seal's location was carefully chosen — near the rest of the team.

When Scorpion launched his attack, Yuma instantly used the Flying Thunder God technique to teleport himself and Kakashi to safety.

Surely, by now, Scorpion must be fuming, thought Yuma with a sense of pride. However, he quickly dismissed his self-congratulatory thoughts. The mission still demanded his full attention.

Upon returning to the camp, Yuma and Kakashi immediately reported to Akamichi Chōza.

"Senior Chōza," Yuma began, "how's the situation? Have Shibi-senpai and the others managed to bring back the Daimyō and his son?"

Chōza nodded, his expression serious. "The mission was successful. Everyone has returned safely — except for Minato."

This response puzzled Yuma. With the mission accomplished, Namikaze Minato, known as the "Yellow Flash," should have easily returned by now. What could possibly have delayed him?

Frowning, Yuma suggested, "Since I can use the Flying Thunder God technique, let me check on Minato-sensei's situation."

Chōza's face turned grave. "Good idea. Go immediately, Yuma."

The others in the camp unanimously agreed. Given Yuma's unparalleled mobility with the Flying Thunder God technique, it was the safest and most logical option.

Without hesitation, Yuma nodded and vanished in a flash.

At the Battlefield

Yuma reappeared in the city where Namikaze Minato was last seen. As he approached the battlefield, he noticed an unexpected sight. Minato was engaged in combat with the Red Sand Scorpion. This wasn't what surprised him, though.

What truly caught his attention was the Third Kazekage lying nearby, battered and bruised. The Kazekage's skin had turned an alarming shade of purple, indicating severe poisoning.

Yuma quickly assessed the situation. Among the three people present, the only one capable of using such potent poisons was Scorpion, the master puppeteer.

It didn't take much thought to deduce what had happened — Scorpion had betrayed and attacked the Kazekage, using poison to incapacitate him. This aligned with what Yuma remembered about Scorpion from historical accounts: the infamous puppet master had assassinated the Kazekage around this period.

Both Minato and Scorpion noticed Yuma's arrival. Minato called out, his tone a mix of relief and urgency.

"Yuma, check on the Kazekage's condition immediately!"

Minato was clearly concerned. The success of their mission was at risk of being overshadowed by the disastrous implications of the Kazekage's death. If the Kazekage were to die during Konoha's operation, the blame would undoubtedly fall on them, potentially sparking another war.

Yuma wasted no time, dashing over to the unconscious Kazekage. After a quick but thorough examination, he called out, "Minato-sensei! The Kazekage's condition is critical. If he doesn't receive treatment within ten minutes, he won't survive!"

Minato's response was swift. "Yuma, take the Kazekage to our camp immediately! Have the medical-nin do everything they can to save him!"

"Understood!" Yuma replied, carefully hoisting the Kazekage onto his back.

Scorpion's Desperation

Scorpion, witnessing this turn of events, was enraged. His carefully orchestrated plan to turn the Third Kazekage into a human puppet was falling apart. He could not allow Yuma to escape with his prized target.

"You're not taking the Kazekage!" Scorpion roared, his voice filled with fury. Without hesitation, he unfurled a scroll.

Bang!

A massive cloud of smoke erupted as hundreds of puppets appeared out of thin air. Scorpion unleashed his ultimate technique: Red Secret Technique: Performance of a Hundred Puppets.

This time, however, it wasn't just a hundred puppets. Scorpion, in his desperation, summoned over three hundred puppets, all armed and ready to strike.

The puppets swarmed toward Yuma and the Kazekage. Minato, observing the overwhelming attack, felt helpless. Though his Rasengan could destroy individual puppets, it wasn't enough to deal with hundreds at once. He could only do his best to buy time.

Yuma, under immense pressure, considered using the Flying Thunder God to escape. However, a horrifying realization stopped him in his tracks.

The Flying Thunder God technique, while powerful, required intense neurological responses to execute. For someone in the Kazekage's poisoned state, it could prove fatal. The neurotoxin coursing through his veins would likely kill him during the teleportation.

"Dammit," Yuma muttered through gritted teeth. "This is bad."

Unexpected Interference

As Yuma dodged Scorpion's puppets, things took a turn for the worse. A group of Sand Shinobi appeared on the battlefield. From their perspective, it looked as though Konoha ninjas were abducting their Kazekage, while Scorpion was valiantly trying to rescue him.

"Put down Lord Kazekage, you scum from Konoha!" one of the Sand Shinobi shouted.

"Don't just stand there! Use Ninjutsu to stop them!" another yelled.

The Sand Shinobi launched a barrage of Wind Release techniques, their sharp gusts cutting through the air toward Yuma.

With Sand Shinobi in front of him and Scorpion's puppets behind, Yuma found himself in an almost impossible situation.

The Fatal Strike

In the chaos, one of Scorpion's puppets extended its body, catching up to Yuma in an instant. The puppet's blade struck with precision, piercing the Third Kazekage's back.

Yuma's eyes widened in shock. "No!" he shouted, his face twisting in anguish.

Blood stained the Kazekage's cloak as Yuma realized the gravity of the situation. The Kazekage's chances of survival were gone.

"Tch, this is a disaster," Yuma muttered bitterly. With the Kazekage beyond saving, there was no longer any reason to hold back.

His eyes burned with determination as he activated the Uchiha-style Teleportation Technique, preparing for one final stand.
