Chapter 8: Flying Thunder God Technique
At this time, Obito had just finished forming the seals. Chakra infused with the fire nature converged in his throat.
He unleashed it at Namikaze Minato.
[Fire Style: Great Fireball Technique]
A massive fireball surged forth, its intense heat capable of reducing anything to ashes. The attack closed in on Namikaze Minato in an instant.
Just as Minato prepared to dodge—
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Dozens of shurikens flew toward him from both flanks. It was Nohara Rin's well-aimed projectile attack, strategically narrowing his escape routes.
The only remaining path was a direct line toward Uchiha Yuma and Hatake Kakashi, who stood waiting with their ninja swords, poised for action.
At this moment, Namikaze Minato seemed cornered.
The Yellow Flash's Response
"You've done well. Despite your unfamiliarity with each other, your teamwork shows promise," Minato remarked with a smile.
"And as for the purpose of this assessment... you've passed!"
Before anyone could react further, a golden flash of light enveloped the battlefield.
Minato disappeared from their sight.
In the blink of an eye, he reappeared behind all four of them—Yuma, Kakashi, Obito, and Rin.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The four were immediately immobilized. Black runes appeared across their bodies, disrupting their chakra systems and rendering them unable to move.
"What's happening?!" Obito exclaimed, struggling to move.
"This is the Flying Thunder God Technique? Incredible!" Rin gasped.
"Damn it, we lost so easily?!" Yuma muttered, attempting to push himself up.
"Even my chakra control is completely disrupted," Rin said, wide-eyed.
Minato smiled at his students as they lay on the ground.
"You've done well," he said, his voice warm. "Despite the outcome, you passed the exam."
A Lesson in Teamwork
Yuma, still lying on the ground, managed to prop himself up slightly. Looking at Minato, he smiled.
"As expected, Minato-sensei's real goal was to test our ability to work together," Yuma said confidently.
Minato nodded approvingly. "That's right, Yuma-kun. The purpose of this assessment was teamwork. With Kakashi already experienced as a Chūnin, I wanted to see if the group could overcome any sense of division between experienced and inexperienced members."
Hearing this, the team understood the true intention behind the test. Kakashi, however, looked away awkwardly, silently acknowledging the subtle lesson.
Minato chuckled to himself at Kakashi's reaction. "Alright," he said, his tone lighthearted. "To celebrate the formation of Team Minato, let's go have some barbecue!"
"Really?! Minato-sensei, you're the best!" Obito cheered, his excitement uncontainable.
"Obito, calm down! Show some restraint," Rin chided, though she smiled softly.
"Lin, don't be so mean!" Obito pouted, earning laughter from the group.
The cheerful team left for the barbecue restaurant, their bonds growing stronger with every step.
A Month Later
A month had passed since the formation of Team Minato. That morning, Uchiha Yuma packed his ninja tools and stepped out into the sunlight, leaving the Uchiha clan grounds.
He made his way to the training ground, where he planned to practice. Upon arriving, he sat cross-legged under a tree, basking in the serenity of the morning.
Over the past month, the team had completed numerous D-rank missions. These missions, though simple, helped Obito and Rin acclimate to the responsibilities of a ninja.
For Yuma, this period had been incredibly productive. Thanks to the [Genius (Gold)] and [Uchiha (Purple)] entries, his Sharingan had evolved to the level of three tomoe, signified on his system panel as [Sharingan (Blue)].
He pondered aloud, "Blue represents three tomoe... Purple must signify the Mangekyō Sharingan. And gold? That must be the Eternal Mangekyō. As for red, it should correspond to the Rinnegan. Beyond that, we'll see how the system defines it."
Interrupting his thoughts, he stood up. His scarlet Sharingan spun with three tomoe as he drew his ninja sword. Flames erupted along its blade as he swung it forward.
[Uchiha Style: Sword of Leaping Fire]
A crescent-shaped slash of fire surged forth, cutting through the air with a roar. It traveled dozens of meters before dissipating.
Yuma followed up with a burst of speed, his figure blurring as he moved within a fifty-meter radius of the training ground.
When he finally stopped, he muttered to himself, "Uchiha-style nin-taijutsu really suits me best."
This fighting style combined swordsmanship, Fire Style, genjutsu, and the Body Flicker Technique. With the system's [Genius] and [Child of Time and Space] entries, Yuma had honed this style to near perfection.
The Flying Thunder God Scroll
Yuma pulled a scroll from his pouch and unrolled it. A smile crept across his face.
It was the Flying Thunder God Technique scroll, given to him by Minato after noticing Yuma's exceptional reflexes.
"Minato-sensei truly lives up to his reputation," Yuma thought. "Despite me being a Uchiha, he's willing to teach me his signature technique without hesitation."
Studying the scroll over the past weeks, Yuma had unlocked the basic form of the technique.
[Flying Thunder God Technique Style (White)]: A space-time ninjutsu capable of basic coordinate movement.
Although he could now use the technique, it wasn't perfect. The transition felt sluggish, and its execution lacked fluidity.
"I need to upgrade this technique," Yuma resolved.
With 80 combat points available, he focused on the system interface.
The Flying Thunder God Technique entry began to glow, signaling its evolution.
