Formaggio finally emerged from the small tower that is the starting point and joined the others.
- Pretty good,' Formaggio said as he looked around the vast green steppe in front of them, 'If this is really a game, it's pretty realistic.
- So, now we have to decide where to go. What do you think? - Prosciutto asked everyone.
- I propose to go north, - said Kurapika to the others, - It doesn't make much difference where to go, because sooner or later we will go somewhere anyway. However, I don't know why, but for some reason I'm drawn to the north.
- You say you are drawn to the north... - Prosciutto said a little thoughtfully, - Hm, indeed... It really doesn't make much difference where we go. In general, I agree with you. We could go north. What do you think? - He turned to the others.
- It does make sense. - Replied Formaggio.
- Where you go, I go, bro. - Pesci replied predictably.
It was unanimously decided to go north. Now Kurapika, like everyone else, hoped that it wouldn't take too long and they would reach a town by evening.
***
They had been walking for almost half an hour now, and nothing interesting had happened in that time. Pesci shared his observations of the local flora and fauna, and Formaggio occasionally made his trademark jokes. Kurapika was thoughtfully silent.
'So, we're walking now, and all sorts of thoughts come into my head. I don't know why, but I've been thinking about why all these events happened. What caused it? No, I realise that nothing can be changed, and what is, is... But still... Was it possible to avoid all this? What were the alternatives? It seems to me... It seems like fate. My fate was to meet Risotto and all the others, join them, meet Diavolo and end up in the hospital. That was my destiny. And just as importantly, it was their destiny... I wonder what they had to go through? What they still have to go through? What is their destiny? From all this thinking, a legitimate question arises: where did all these thoughts and questions come from? The answer is obvious. It is all the fault of all those events that happened to me. But the one that affected me the most was my meeting with Diavolo. That night, before he took away my eye, he told me that my fate was now tied to that of Risotto and the others. He said something else about himself and us, but I don't remember it very well. It was these words that prompted me to think about my past, present, and future. It was after that that I thought about destiny. Was my destiny what it was from the beginning? What would have happened if things had gone differently...? Or was it unavoidable? Actually, these questions are probably philosophical. There's no answer to them. But still, I'd like to get one someday.'

Another half hour passed. The city didn't even smell like a city yet. Not that they didn't enjoy the walk across the steppe, but it was obvious that they all wanted to find some city as soon as possible. The main reason, naturally, was to find Risotto and the others, and make sure they were alright. Even though each of them knew deep down that they were fine.
- 'By the way,' Pesci suddenly spoke up, 'What about the cards we're supposed to collect? That's kind of the goal of the game.
- I don't really know what they are, but we're not here for them anyway.
- But for the sake of interest we can try to familiarise ourselves with them. See if they're useful somewhere.
- Well, that's also true.
- Hey, look! - Suddenly exclaimed Prosciutto, who seemed to notice something, - There's something in the distance.
As they looked closer, they saw some strange black thing in the distance, which was about a kilometre away from them.
- Well, let's go and see what this thing is. - Suggested Kurapika to the others.
- Come on. - Prosciutto agreed. The others nodded silently.
***
They finally came close to the thing, and it was... Quite unusual. As it turned out, it was a large black hemisphere, several metres wide and high. And there was some kind of unpleasant aura emanating from it.
- What the hell is that thing? - Formaggio asked a fair question, 'It gave me the creeps.
- Well... - Prosciutto thought, - Maybe it's some kind of trap, anomaly, or something else. In general, I think it's some kind of game shit. I don't know what it is, but it's probably best to stay away from it.
Kurapika, looking at that anomaly, thought the same thing. He too got goosebumps from that aura.
'No, fuck that thing! I have a feeling it won't do any good.'
As he was about to turn his back on the anomaly, Kurapika suddenly tripped over the rock beneath his feet. He collapsed with the right side of his face right onto the anomaly, but he didn't enter it. It was of a very unusual consistency, and a bit like jelly, causing him to enter it rather slowly. But nevertheless, as soon as he touched it, a hellish pain seized him, causing him to scream loudly:
- Waaaaaah!!! Shit!!! Get me out of here!
Everyone else immediately ran over to him and pulled him out of the anomaly by pulling on his clothes.
- Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit! It hurts so bad! - He said loudly, sitting on the ground and holding his face, 'What a bitch!..... Bitch! However... Rather strangely, the pain quickly went away.
- Are you sure it's gone? - Prosciutto made sure. Are you sure you're feeling all right?
- I feel fine. Is my face all right? No new scars?
- I think I'm fine.
- That's good. Now let's get out of here. I don't know what else to expect from this shit.
Without further ado, they hurried away from the anomaly as fast as they could.
***
After a hell of a long time, they finally saw the city, almost a kilometre away. And it wasn't even evening yet.
- Finally a city! - Pesci and Formaggio exclaimed.
- Lucky we found it before dark,' said Prosciutto with relief. He reached into the right pocket of his trousers, and as soon as he did so his face took on a slight grimace of horror, 'Oh, no! It can't be!
- What, what is it?! - Kurapika was a little startled by Prosciutto's exclamation, -What's wrong? What's wrong?
- I forgot my cigarettes at home!
- Damn it! That's all... And I was already scared. Don't worry, you can buy cigarettes in town.
Fifteen minutes later they entered a town called Antokiba.
'Quite a nice town. Considering its style, architecture and all, I'm inclined to think Risotto and the others probably set up their headquarters here. At least, knowing Gyaccio, he probably liked it here a lot and could have persuaded the others to set up here.'
- So, what now? - Kurapika asked the others, 'Where do we start?
- Small things to start with,' answered Prosciutto, who was looking around, probably looking for a place to buy cigarettes, 'We can go in for a bite to eat, buy something important, that sort of thing. But don't forget that our first priority is to find everyone else. Don't forget that.
- Any idea where we can start looking? - Formaggio asked everyone.
- I have an idea, - Said Kurapika, which drew the attention of the others, - I suggest we split up. If we split up, we'll increase the chances of finding everyone else.
- It's a simple idea, but a good one, - said Prosciutto, - I like it. Let's do it.
Everyone agreed with Kurapika's idea and went in different directions.
***
Kurapika had been wandering around the city for almost ten minutes. He was in no particular hurry to get anywhere. Instead, he wandered the streets and looked around carefully, occasionally talking to the local NPCs, trying to get some information from them.
'Yeah, well... Trying to get any information from the NPS was a failure. However, what else can you expect from the NPS. So far, the most interesting thing I've found is a task board and a tournament schedule board. But that's okay! I feel like I'm bound to find something! What I'm looking for is very close... Very close...'
Suddenly, Kurapika felt something unusual. Something slightly unpleasant... And if this feeling was to be believed, that something was right in the alleyway he was only a few metres away from.
'No, of course I said something was close... But I didn't expect it to be this close! What's that feeling? I feel like there's something round the corner. And that feeling... It reminds me of the feeling from the aura that came from that anomaly!'
Reluctantly... With extreme caution... Kurapika entered the alleyway from which that unpleasant aura he felt was coming from. No, there was no fear in him. But still, he felt a little uneasy. Without fear, but with caution, he peered round the corner, around which was a dead end. But there was also something else a little unpleasant there as well.
Right in that rather wide dead end lay five people who were apparently already dead. Among them, there was only one person who looked like a player, while the rest were ordinary NPCs. But what was unusual about them was their appearance. They looked kind of bloated, as if they had been pumped full of water. But things became clearer when Kurapika noticed a man standing near all these corpses. He was holding another man by the collar with one hand, and his other hand was shoved into the man's mouth. The killer finally noticed Kurapika and threw the already dead man to the ground, giving him a better look.
He was a small but athletically built old man with a heavily wrinkled and clean-shaven face. He had unusually long eyebrows over slanted eyes, and his hair was braided into several thin pigtails at the back of his head. He wore a fur bodysuit open at the chest.
- Hmm, another one... Who the hell are you? - He said to Kurapika.
- What do you mean? - Kurapika asked in confusion.
- Hmm, it seems like you are, and it seems like you're not....
'What the hell is that old man talking about?! He killed all those people, but just as importantly... He reeks of that very aura I felt!'
- I don't know who you are,' Kurapika spoke rather forcefully, 'But you killed all those people, which means you deserve the death I'm going to give you! And I don't care that you're an old man!
- Oh, wait a bit... - Suddenly the old man said.
'What? What's he up to?'
The old man picked up an empty beer can lying around. Making sure there was nothing in it, he stood up against the wall, pulled down his trousers and started pissing in the can.
'What?! What's wrong with that grandad?!'
When he finished taking a piss, he took the jar, which was already full... And drank its contents in a gulp.
'What the fuck?!!! He just drank his own piss! Fucking hell! That grandad's fucking nuts!'
- Oh, not bad at all,' The old man spoke up, clearly pleased with the taste of his drink, 'Okay, well, I should introduce myself. My name is Kenzo, I'm 78 years old. The secret of my health is an eight and a half hour sleep every day, as well as urine therapy. The most important thing is regularity... Urine therapy... Have you heard of it?
- Grandpa... You're crazy, you know that...? Not only did you kill those people, but you're a fucking piss lover. I almost threw up, you piece of shit! No, you should definitely die!
Kurapika launched himself at the old man, and the old man made a sudden dash and ran a few metres up the wall that was beside him, and pushed himself off of it to find himself behind Kurapika's back.
'Wow! And he's pretty nimble. He's definitely 78 years old?'
The old man tried to attack Kurapika in the neck, and he almost succeeded, but Kurapika managed to defend himself with his arms at the last moment, and even so the grandfather was quite strong and managed to hurt Kurapika. After this attack, he stepped back a few metres.
'Damn grandfather... It's quite painful... He's strong. But it's better than having him get into my mouth. I've already learnt his deadly technique. When he puts his hand in his opponent's mouth, he makes him drown somehow. I have to try to avoid this attack... Or else he'll shove it up to my tonsils and I'll be finished!'
Looking at his grandfather Kurapika was surprised, because for some reason his arm was missing.
'What the... Where's his hand?!'
Suddenly, out of nowhere, Kurapika was attacked by the same hand that was missing from his grandfather. It hit him right in the jaw, causing him to barely stand on his feet. After that, the hand came back again and stood in its place.
'What was that just now? What kind of attack was that? Did he really attack from the left, where my blind spot is? No... There's something else going on here! We have to use Gyo.'
Using Gyo, Kurapika saw something unusual flying near his grandfather. It was a dragon's head on a kind of 'compass', coloured jade.
- What the hell is that thing flying near you?! - Kurapika turned to his grandfather, -What kind of dragon is that?
- Oh, that's it... You can see my Dragon's Dream! So you're a Stand user after all!
'The Stand'?! So this is The Stand?! So this old man is a Stand user?! Shit... Now I realise how serious this is. So there's no way out... Even though it's less effective now, and I had to renounce my oath, but... It's time to use the Emperor's Time!'
Kurapiki's eye turned red, and he felt his strength increase. He made a sudden dash and threw himself at his grandfather, already much faster this time. The old man was a little surprised by this change in his opponent, but he was not confused. Kurapika made several quick strikes at his opponent, only two of which reached their target. One hit the old man in the face and the other in the stomach. It would seem that Kurapika's attack was very successful, but that was only at first glance. Immediately after these blows, the grandfather attacked Kurapika back. The first blow hit him in the nose, the second hit him in the solar plexus, causing Kurapika to feel great pain and bend over. With the third blow, the old man wanted to put his hand in Kurapika's mouth. But Kurapika managed to pull himself together, he straightened up and was about to give the old man a powerful haikiku, but he dodged and bounced back a few metres.
'Oh shit... He's a very skilled fighter. I can't believe he's 78 years old.'
- Try to lure him out of the strike zone,' A voice suddenly came from outside. Turning around Kurapika saw the very dragon that is the Old Man's Stand beside him. Kurapika tried to strike, but the attack went through him, -Forget about me. You should focus your attention on the old man. He's the danger, not me.
- Wha... What?' Kurapika was surprised to hear him say that.
- When attacking the enemy, he relies on Feng Shui to find a safe zone for himself and a dangerous one for the enemy. He's using me to do that, but it's not that important. With this information, you can defeat him.
- Hey! Why are you giving him clues?! - The old man got angry.
- What's the big deal? If you know about it, so should he. It's only fair.
''This Stand... It's quite unusual. Though I haven't seen many Stands yet to judge what's common and what's not. But in any case, this dragon has given me advice on how to proceed. Except there's a problem... I don't know much about Feng Shui at all and all these directions, danger and safety zones!'
The old man stuck his hand into the dragon, whereupon it separated from the dragon. Kurapika at this time decided not to wait for the attack, but to attack first. He launched one of his chains at the old man, but when it was about to reach its target the old man made an unusual and quick movement with his foot and covered himself from the chain with a corpse that was lying not far from him.
'Awesome...!!! His speed and agility are really impressive. He's definitely 78 years old?'
- Silly boy! As long as I'm in a safe zone, you can't do anything to me!
At this time, the hand that the old man had stuck into the dragon flew out of it and struck Kurapiku right in the throat at high speed, causing him to bend slightly, grab his throat, and start spurting blood. However, he found his strength again and launched another chain at the old man, but he made another quick movement and closed in with another corpse.
- Are you completely stupid? I told you that as long as I'm in a safe zone, you can't do anything to me! I don't care about your attacks, you idiot!
- Hehehehehe... - Kurapika laughed quietly, - Idiot you say...? Wrong... The idiot here is only you!
Kurapika made a few quick movements with his hand, and the two chains that were still wrapped around the two corpses twitched, causing the corpses to fly towards the old man. The old man didn't notice this in time, and as a result, the corpses clamped down on both sides of him like a vise.
Kurapika's next move was to pull the old man towards him, freeing him from the corpses, and then launching one chain each into the walls to his right and left. When the chains were securely stuck in the walls Kurapika wrapped the chains around the old man's torso and began to squeeze him.
- I told you, you idiot,' Kurapika said to the old man with a slight smile, 'I didn't aim those chains at you, but at those corpses. I knew that you would try to defend yourself with them, so I set it up so that you would think that I was trying to attack you. It was those corpses that got you out of the safe zone.
- Ah... You... Bastard...! - The old man struggled to speak as he was squeezed by the chains.
- Your Stand is quite interesting, and I respect him because of his sense of justice. But you... You're disgusting...! This is the first time I've ever seen such a disgusting bastard in my life!
Kurapika pulled the chains with all his might, and a moment later, the old man was torn in half, and the blood that splattered in all directions stained Kurapika's face and clothes.
- He was never very bright,' the dragon said, looking at his master and then turned to Kurapika, "But you, boy... You're really amazing... You have potential... Realise it properly..." The dragon disappeared.
Kurapika stood still for a while, pondered over the dragon's words, then sat down on the ground to catch his breath. He leaned his back against the wall behind him and began wiping his bloody face.
'Phew... Gee... That old fart made me sweat a lot. Even though I used Emperor's Time, he still managed to evade my punches and beat me up. I can't believe he's 78 years old. Shit... My head was starting to hurt for some reason.'
Suddenly, the sound of approaching footsteps could be heard coming from the alleyway. Before Kurapika could tense up, however, he immediately calmed down when Formaggio came around the corner.
- What the hell happened here?' Formaggio was shocked by everything he saw, especially the corpses and the old man who had been torn in half. Did you do that to him? - Formaggio turned to Kurapika, pointing at the torn old man, -This man was an enemy?
- A man...? Hehehe... That's not even a human. His birth was a mistake. He shouldn't have been born at all. He's even worse than an animal... We should get rid of bastards like him.
- Eh... And you're quite harsh... I take it you'll tell me later what happened here?
- Yes... Later... What about you...? What did you find?
- Well, pretty much nothing. But I did get some ice cream. Want some?
Formaggio was holding several cups of ice cream, one of which he handed to Kurapika.
- Ice cream? Are you serious?! I'm sitting here covered in blood... I'm trying to get over what happened... And you're offering me ice cream?! I'm shocked at you.
- If you don't want it.
- Stop right there! Give me the ice cream! - Kurapika jumped to his feet and practically snatched the cup out of Formaggio's hands, - Now let's get out of here. Let's keep looking.
***
After five minutes of wandering around the city, Kurapika finally found the place where Risotto and the others were supposed to be. It was an inn.
'Okay, according to the information I just got, they should be here. The inn... It looks pretty nice. Probably a good place to set up temporary headquarters.'
Once inside the inn, Kurapika asked the staff where Risotto and the others were staying. He went up to the first floor and went to the door where the room he wanted was supposed to be.
'This is supposedly his room. I wonder how surprised he'll be when he sees me?'
Before opening the door Kurapika decided to eavesdrop on what was going on behind the door just in case. But what he heard shocked him.
- Oh, be careful... - came a voice belonging to Melona, - Insert gently... Be gentle... Be gentle....
- I'm trying, I'm trying, - came a second voice that belonged to Giaccio, - By the way, it's not easy to insert gently and without any pain.
- I know it's not easy. But you should still be careful and gentle....
All those words instantly made Kurapika blush.
'Oh my god... There's all sorts of naughty things going on in there! I... Oh shit... No, I don't mind... If they like each other, let them... I won't interfere.'
Just as he was about to step away from the door, he heard something that made him blush even more.
- What are you doing? Who does that? - There was another voice that belonged to Illuso.
- Try changing your position. - Risotto's voice came out.
'Are the four of them in there?! Jesus! What's going on in there?! Nah... This is too much!'
Deciding to stop putting up with all this, Kurapika abruptly opened the door and said loudly:
- What kind of filthy mess are you doing here!!!!
However, what Kurapika saw in the room was not what he expected. He saw Melone lying on the sofa, with Gyaccio standing over him and holding his hand. Near them on chairs sat Risotto and Illuso. All were looking at Kurapika with surprised faces.
- Hello to you too... Kurapika, - Said a surprised Risotto, - Happy recovery. Why are your clothes covered in blood? And anyway, what iniquity are you talking about?
- Ah... I... Anyway...
- Happy recovery! - Everyone else congratulated him happily, though they were still surprised by his appearance and the words he said.
- Well, thank you of course... But what's going on here? What are you doing with Melone, Gyaccio?
- Oh, this? That jerk climbed up on the roof for some reason. It's only natural that he fell and dislocated his arm. Now I'm trying to put it back in.
- Oh, you're putting your arm back in. I see.
- Yeah, my hand. What were you thinking?
- I wasn't thinking anything! - Kurapika's blushing again.
- Judging by your appearance you have a lot to tell us, - Said Risotto watching Kurapika's appearance, - And we have a lot to tell you and everyone else. By the way, where are the others?
- The others will be here soon. They're doing something.
Suddenly Kurapika staggered and almost fell.
- Hey, are you all right? - Risotto was worried, -You don't look so good. You don't feel well?
- Indeed... I'm really not feeling well... It's strange... Why...''
Before he could sit down or lie down anywhere Kurapika collapsed to the floor and passed out.
