Chapter 55: Alpha
************************
Japan, Ozunu Orphanage: Cloud
"Will it work?" Areum asked, her gaze fixed on the ground beside her stood Yggdrasil, who felt her own power waning as the Golden Tree exerted its influence.
"It will. That tree is more terrifying than you think. It absorbs any divine power or energy, using it as nourishment." Yggdrasil said, watching the black and white energies that erupted around Lucian before the golden energy enveloped him.
"Have you figured out what that black energy comes from?" Areum asked her voice tinged with worry.
She sensed its destructive power, its yearning to obliterate everything in its path.
"No. I'm not stupid enough to play with forces I don't comprehend." Yggdrasil said, her expression unreadable, her voice devoid of emotion, not even curiosity one bit.
As they watched Lucian emerge from the silver sphere, Areum tilted her head in confusion, a frown creasing her brow as she watched Lucian.
Her sharp eyes darted back and forth, analyzing him, searching for something but finding only a beautiful being.
She looked at Yggdrasil, seeking an answer, her gaze silently asking, "What is this?"
Yggdrasil, her eyes fixed on Lucian, had a different reaction. A flicker of excitement crossed her face, a rare display of emotion from the normally stoic creature.
Her gaze shifted to Areum, her eyes now narrowed, a smirk playing on her lips.
"Huh~ you think it's because of me? I didn't think I would be that beautiful." Areum said, a playful smirk appeared on her lips as she held her cheek.
Yggdrasil rolled her eyes in disgust at Areum's self-absorbed comment. 'Elf? From another world, attuned with nature like how kitsune is,' she thought, wanting to see if their plan had been successful.
Satomi's roar echoed through the forest, and Lucian's transformation unfolded before their eyes.
"Nyahahaha~" Areum laughed maniacally, her eyes gleaming with delight as she witnessed Lucian's transformation.
He was a unique kitsune, a rare and powerful type of kitsune, destined to be a guardian, his existence fleeting, only one existing until his death before a new one could be born.
Yggdrasil's eyes widened in surprise. Even she hadn't expected this outcome. A grin stretched across her lips. "Jikan Kitsune." she whispered, a sense of anticipation filling her.
Areum's smirk widened, her eyes glittering with happiness.
She removed a pair of earrings, holding them in her palms. Her irises glowed white as she let the earrings fall from the sky.
"Looks like you don't want your son to draw more attention." Yggdrasil said, knowing what the earrings could do. They possessed a potent magical ability of illusion and covering up one's unique aura.
"I just don't want to be a Grandmother at such a young age." Areum said, her smirk unchanged as she turned to leave. A white mist enveloped her, and she vanished.
Yggdrasil shook her head, "Let me see what a Jikan Kitsune can do." she whispered. A portal to her realm shimmered into existence behind her before she turned, stepped through the portal and disappeared as the portal closed with a swirling energy.

Japan, Ozunu Orphanage: Forest
Lucian stood, gripped by a mixture of sadness for Cortana and anger at the way his body was being forced to move.
He glared at Satomi with anger full and his rage burning hot. He wanted to vent his emotions to lash out to beat her, unaware of how out of control his emotions were. Lucian, in his state of turmoil, was oblivious to his own nakedness.
Noshiko, her purple eyes glowing, turned away, while Mika shielded her eyes with her hands, separating her fingers slightly so she could still see.
Kim Yoo-ri, her eyes wide with shock, slowly turned her back as well.
Seeing his rage, Satomi frowned at her new beta. "Calm down." she said softly, her red irises glowing intensely.
Lucian paused, taking a step back.
He felt a powerful force urging him to calm down but it just amplified his anger as rage took over him like a burning inferno within him.
He continued to walk towards Satomi, his claws extending from his fingers without his conscious control.
His killing intent radiated from him, growing stronger with each step while everyone frowned, sensing the danger.
Noshiko, turning back to face Lucian, thought, 'This kid, he's losing control.' Her own irises glowed a deep purple, a warning signal that she was ready to intervene.
Mika felt chills crawl up her spine, her hand instinctively reaching for her pistol.
Raizo, standing beside her, grasped her arm, shaking his head, and gently pushed her hand down.
"Are you sure it was the right decision to have him bitten by the Werewolf?" Mika asked, her voice laced with worry. She couldn't help but imagine the horrors Lucian might unleash now that his power was unleashed.
Raizo frowned at Mika's words but he knew she was right. He looked at Lucian, ready to incapacitate him if necessary.
"Calm down, kid. Don't let emotions get the better of you." Deaton said, unable to stand by any longer. He knew that supernatural creatures were more susceptible to emotional manipulation.
Lucian ignored their concerns, his mind consumed by his need to vent and to break free from any attempt at control.
Seeing that Lucian wasn't calming down, Satomi's expression turned hard but she remained calm, a snarl escaping her lips, a warning to Lucian to stop but it wouldn't work.
Her methods had always worked on betas who feared and respected her. But Lucian was different. He was a trained assassin, accustomed to enduring hardship to gain strength. Every time Satomi forced him to do something, it would have the opposite effect, pushing him further into rebellion.
Realizing that Lucian was not going to stop on his own, Satomi decided to take action. She took a step forward, arching her body, in a gesture of dominance. She took a deep breath and released a powerful roar that echoed through the forest.
"RRAAOOOOWWRRR!"
Satomi's roar stopped Lucian in his tracks. A wave of fear washed over him, forcing his knees, making him want to kneel and surrender but before he could succumb to his instinct, he took a step forward, his step heavy, forcing himself to resist. 'Why should I kneel? Why should I obey? Why? Why? Did I endure all that hardship and training just to kneel before her?' He questioned himself, his defiance growing.
He slowly lifted his head, glaring at Satomi, who was staring at him in shock. Noshiko and Talia also watched Lucian with surprise.
"Who the hell do you think you are?" Lucian snarled, his voice laced with venom, his silver irises and golden yellow pupils glowing intensely, a manifestation of his defiance.
A silver aura strong and unwavering surrounded him, his body standing tall and proud, a testament to his strength. "I endured so many things, and you want me to be submissive to you?" he continued, the fear in his heart fading as anger and rage took over.
His pride, and unyielding will, fought back. "Kneel down? Even Ozunu couldn't make me do that." Lucian said calmly, his gaze unwavering as he stood tall, facing Satomi.
His golden yellow pupils flickered slightly before turning red for a brief moment, a hint of something more primal and powerful.
"In this world, I won't fucking surrender to anyone, even if I die." he said, his calm voice laced with a chilling malice for those who dared to control him.
The others were less focused on what he said and more focused on the change in his eyes, those pupils that had turned red before returning to a fierce golden yellow.
Talia's wolf eyes widened in shock, even for a moment, she noticed it.
Noshiko was stunned, her mind reeling from the possibility that a kitsune could become an Alpha, a first in recorded history.
No other kitsune had ever manifested this way. 'Did his mother plan this for him?' she thought and then a sense of shock washing over her.
"True Alpha." Deaton murmured, his voice laced with awe as he stepped back.
"It's one who rises purely on the strength of their character, by virtue of their sheer force of will." His eyes widened in amazement as he stared at Lucian. 'How can a nine-year-old have that kind of will?'
Lucian cracked his knuckles, the popping sounds echoing through the clearing.
He looked at Satomi, his silver aura, now a shimmering silver kitsune form, surrounding his body.
"Impossible!" Noshiko exclaimed, her voice laced with a mixture of shock and fear. She couldn't help herself, her gaze locked onto the silver aura, focusing on the circle that appeared on its forehead. For others, it might have been a simple shape, but for Noshiko, it was a sign of something far more profound. 'Time,' she thought, realizing that this was a Jikan Kitsune, the rarest and most powerful type of kitsune.
She swallowed hard, her gaze fixed on Lucian, a sense of unease settling over her.
She knew the stories about Jikan Kitsunes, their mastery over time, and she couldn't help but feel a sense of dread. 'It's been so long since a Jikan Kitsune has appeared,' she thought, tightening her grip on her katana, ready to protect Satomi, knowing the probability of Satomi defeating a Jikan Kitsune was very low.
Lucian's aura vanished, and he lunged towards Satomi with blinding speed. He was almost upon her, his claws raised, about to strike her neck.
Satomi's eyes widened. She raised her arms to block the attack, while the others rushed forward, intending to incapacitate him.
Just as Lucian's claws were about to reach Satomi, a voice halted him in his tracks.
'Stop, what are you doing? With how your body is healed and you become a supernatural creature, she should have saved you!' Cortana's voice echoed in his mind, a reprimand tinged with concern.
Lucian's eyes widened, and everyone paused, wondering what had happened.
Satomi's eyes narrowed as she looked at Lucian, who had stopped, his eyes wide. Seeing that he wasn't attacking, she stepped forward, still worried about him.
"Are you okay, child?" she asked softly.
Lucian ignored her, his glowing golden yellow pupils fading, returning to their normal black. He sat down on the ground, crossing his legs, focusing on himself.
Talia stopped in front of Lucian, observing him with curiosity, while Noshiko still uneasy, pointed her katana at him.
"You don't need to do that. He's already calmed down." Satomi said to Noshiko, gently pushing her arm down.
She had always been patient with her betas, treating them like family.
"You don't know what he is." Noshiko whispered, her gaze fixed on Lucian, a sense of unease still lingering.
Satomi smiled softly at Noshiko. "Then tell me." she said, wanting to know more about her beta.
"He-"
Noshiko began, about to reveal Lucian's true nature to Satomi, understanding that as a member of Satomi's pack, she had a right to know. But she paused, her gaze sweeping over the forest, a frown creasing her brow.
She couldn't risk revealing Lucian's true nature, not to the others.
It was too dangerous. A Jikan Kitsune, a master of time, would be coveted by many, including those who sought to exploit his powers for their own ends. Seeing Noshiko's hesitation, Satomi understood that she wanted to speak privately.
She nodded, following Noshiko as they walked deeper into the forest, seeking a secluded spot.
Deaton watched them go, shaking his head. He had gathered enough information for now.
He knew that Lucian was fine and he was curious about the boy's transformation.
His gaze turned to Lucian, who sat cross-legged eyes closed as if in deep meditation.
"Is he meditating?" Deaton asked, his voice filled with curiosity, knowing that some wolves used meditation to control their emotions and hone their will.
"That's how the Ozunu Clan calmed themselves down. Their murderous intent can sometimes be too strong. There are targets sensitive to it and can feel the ninjas coming from far away." Raizo said, walking beside Deaton, observing Lucian with a thoughtful expression.
When Noshiko and Satomi reached a secluded clearing bathed in dappled sunlight, Noshiko pulled her phone from her pocket, knowing that their companions had keen senses and that any conversation in the open would be overheard.
Noshiko started typing a message:
[Your beta is too special. No one should know what he is. Otherwise, he will be in big trouble. Even you or your pack.]
She showed the message to Satomi.
Satomi, seeing Noshiko's serious expression, Satomi took Noshiko's phone and started typing.
[Isn't Lucian a kitsune just like you? What's so different about him?] She then passed the phone back to Noshiko.
Noshiko sighed, seeing Satomi's curiosity. She started typing, explaining everything she knew about Jikan Kitsune.
