Lightning Doesn't Strike Twice!

Chapter 8

I used all the last bit of my strength I could to move. Before a second blow that could have ended me.

The baby grabbed me out of the way and fought the monster. The girl I just rescued was standing by and could see me.

She was still very scared I could feel her shaking, I could barely see her in the dark.

She tried to cover my wound.

The boar kicked one of the lights over revealing her face so I could see it.

Beck? Kaysi? How? What? Why?

 Well simply put, I am a waymaker I have been in training but it was not enough, I overstepped I am not ready for this.

I had to help when I heard your scream.

Oh well Kaysi, you did save me.

 Not without some consequences though.

Kaysi You did enough for this moment I don't you could make any more of a difference; than what you did. You tried so that's all that matters and we can hope for!

As the silence fell I began to pass out. 

I heard her yelling for me.

Sorry baby, once again I got way in over my head. I don't know if I can bounce back from this one. It happened so fast and struck down so quickly.

I couldn't even finish the job or get Beck out of harm's way. Baby even looked like she was having a hard time.

Was this it, the darkness sitting in I heard a voice it sounded like an angel or God speaking with in me. I said, "Get up, rise, and call to the resting crane to soar."

I heard the voice, I repeated what he said myself. Resting crane to soar. What was that? I was standing in this bright light it was like a void another world. I looked down I had something in my hand.

I was forced into reality and woke up. Holding the feather, I did as the voice said and shouted.

The resting crane soared and the feather transformed from a resting crane shaped into a sword.

Without a moment's thought, I leaped into the air and slashed threw the skull of the boar.

I did it, I leaned into the nearby tree to sit, but I landed down on the ground with a hard thud still very weak. Pressing my body against the tree, Baby and Beck came to my side. You idiot, I told you to hold off you was not ready.

I got my sword though I said, with a cheap half-hearted grin. It only came out because you were in trouble and needed it.

It chose you because you sacrificed yourself.

I can't say I am not grateful I was getting a bit roughed up myself.

I guess you could say, you skipped a few lessons now. She said, in a passive-aggressive tone.

Beck, don't look so worried I could see you were about to cry. I am okay I just got a little scratch; I said as I tried to stand…Ouch. Don't worry I will be here for you.

The ambulance is on the way here now.

I won't tell anyone of what happened here I am guessing you don't want anyone to know. I'll just say it was a full pack of wild boars in the area.

That would be best, thank you. No, thank you Kaysi for saving me. I could finally relax and I passed out.

I woke up in the hospital.

Looking around the room were flowers and balloons. The nurses said a girl brought from my classmates and from all over the school. With a folder of letters from my classmates.

One of them stuck out the handwriting and name it read. EVAN. It reminds me of my childhood about this boy I once knew.

The boys had a recruit in our game, Evan. He had dark black hair and was quiet but he looked like someone you didn't want to mess with when I was a kid. The jean jacket on his back made him look like an outsider or loner. 

Not someone you would expect to be grouped up on a team either.

So I know this has to be Clayton's doing!

Yeah, I said turning to Tiff, You may have more people than us but that's okay we will still smoke you guys. Tiff said, yelling back from our conversation to the other team.

Tiff, "Do you think Clayton is a little too proud of himself today?" Most definitively! I think it's the new guy!

I couldn't agree more with you. He's got something up his sleeve I just know it.

Looking at Clayton from across the field I couldn't help but notice. He has a big smile on his face this cannot be good I thought to myself.

Throughout the whole period, it was a battle back and forth. From each team. All over the playground people stuck frozen. 

There was only 2 left left to help on my team. Clayton and the newbie were all that was left.

Man, that newbie was fast. 

I had to come up with a strategy.

The girls were good but he just got the last two out in seconds. But they didn't go down without talking out Clayton at least.

This is it, I had no other choice but to pull out the secret weapon. I was saving it for a last emergency option I was desperate. At this point, I was a sitting duck Backed into a corner, it was now or never.

As I was hiding behind the largest slide I saw him just standing there. With no care did he think he got us all? 

He was new maybe he didn't know everyone yet or had forgotten.

Then again maybe he was looking for me!

Thud… Thud.. my heart was racing. I was running out of time for Him Vs. Me that is it we win or lose! The winner takes it all. I jumped out as his back was turned. Running up to him to make my move.

Just as I spun around him to land my kiss on his cheek. 

I must have caught his peripheral vision cause he spun around at the same time. It's causing me to land my smooch on... His lips! OMG, this is a disaster what do I do?

He was just standing wide-eyed just staring at me. His eyes locked on mine. Both of us are frozen almost in another universe. 

I am not quite sure where to go or what to think. I feel my face hot what is this I never felt this before. My Heart is pounding out of my chest.

I am freaking out... Move… Hide... Scream... Do something with yourself.

I was screaming in my head.

But the same goes with this kid's reaction just do something!

I ran off I just kept running and running. OMG, finally far enough from everyone. Catching my breath. Why didn't he react? The school bell went off. RING.…

Just then my hospital phone went off.
