Marvel: As Thor

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Memory Return

In the cozy living room of Maria Rambeau's house, little Monica watched Carol boil a pot of water in mere seconds using her superpowers. Her eyes widened with excitement. Children have vivid imaginations, and Monica was no exception—she embraced the extraordinary with open arms.

"Wow, that's so cool! Can you do more?" she exclaimed, her gaze shifting eagerly to Thor.

Thor smiled and leaned back against the sofa. "There will be plenty of chances to see cooler things in time," he replied with a relaxed tone. "For now, though, I think you have a lot to share with your Aunt Carol."

Monica tugged Carol's hand and led her eagerly to another room, leaving Thor lounging comfortably on the sofa. He caught Nick Fury's curious gaze fixed on him.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Thor asked, raising an eyebrow. "I'm not a fan of being studied by another man."

Nick Fury leaned forward, his expression sharp. "You seem to know a lot more than you let on. You don't seem surprised by Carol's powers—or the fact that she was part of the Kree. It's like you've known all along."

Thor smirked faintly. "You're sharp. I'll give you that. But you're also too quick to trust. From the start, you accepted that Carol was Kree, believed everything she told you, and even bought into the ideals the Kree fed her. But me? I know better."

Nick narrowed his eyes, still suspicious.

Thor continued, his tone more serious. "Let's just say the Kree and the Skrulls are far from peace-loving races. And as for how I know so much... well, my mother is the most powerful witch in all of Asgard."

Before Fury could press further, Thor suddenly hurled Mjolnir at the doorframe. The hammer whizzed past Talos's head as he peeked inside.

"Since you've been eavesdropping for so long, why not step out and join the conversation?" Thor said, his voice casual but firm.

Talos, startled, stepped out hesitantly. His hands were empty, save for the milk tea he had just swiped from the fridge—though now it was in Thor's hand.

Carol rushed out of the room, her hands glowing with power, her eyes locked onto Talos.

"Relax, relax!" Talos stammered, raising his hands in surrender. "We're not enemies. There's been a misunderstanding, and I think we need to talk this out."

Carol's expression hardened. "The last time we 'talked,' you hung me upside down and tried to extract my memories. That wasn't a misunderstanding."

Talos stepped back, waving his hands defensively. "I didn't know your past back then! I didn't realize how... different you are."

Before he could say more, a loud "Meow!" pierced the air.

Goose, clearly annoyed, had her tail stepped on. She leapt up, hissing, her eyes glowing ominously.

"Oh my god!" Talos yelped, his green face turning even greener. He pointed at Goose, panicking. "How can you keep something this dangerous here? Get it away from me before it swallows me whole!"

Thor chuckled, holding Goose securely in his arms. "Dangerous? You're calling this cat dangerous?" He pulled at Goose's tail playfully, earning another hiss.

Nick Fury laughed outright at the scene. "This guy—who was pretending to be my boss—scared by a little cat? Now that's comedy."

Talos shuddered but quickly shifted the topic. "I have something important. The black box from the plane crash years ago. It holds the answers you're looking for."

---

Soon, the group gathered around a stereo, listening to the playback from the black box. The recording painted a vivid picture of the truth behind the crash, slowly unraveling Carol's fragmented memories.

As the audio ended, Carol stood abruptly and stormed outside.

Maria Rambeau followed her, finding her staring at the horizon, overwhelmed.

"You're Carol Danvers," Maria said softly. "The one who always risked her life to do the right thing. You were my best friend. You supported me when no one else did. You've been a pilot, a friend, and now a hero. You're still that person."

Carol's shoulders trembled as she processed Maria's words.

Thor stepped into the doorway, his voice calm yet purposeful. "The true purpose of Project Pegasus wasn't to wage wars but to end them. You've been deceived for six years, but that doesn't mean you can't make things right. The Kree, the Supreme Intelligence—they've manipulated you. It's time to break free."

Carol turned slowly, her expression firming. She exhaled deeply, determination igniting in her eyes. "You're right. It's time to finish what Dr. Lawson started. I'll help the Skrulls find a home—a place where the Kree can't reach them."

Thor nodded approvingly. The God of Thunder could see the resolve in her, a spark that would soon become the light of hope for many.
