Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Versus kree sholders
The living room hummed with quiet chatter as the group discussed their plan for the next day.
"Going to space?" Nick Fury asked, raising a skeptical eyebrow. "Our aircraft doesn't exactly come with a 'leave the atmosphere' button."
Thor leaned back with a confident grin. "Leave it to me."
He grabbed Fury's phone without asking and dialed a number. Moments later, a radiant beam of light cut through the night sky, illuminating Maria Rambeau's yard. When the glow faded, an elegant Asgardian spaceship stood gleaming in the courtyard, its metallic surface shimmering under the moonlight.
"Wow!" Monica gasped, running to the window. "What a beautiful spaceship!"
Thor smirked and waved dismissively. "After the mission, it's yours."
The little girl's eyes widened in disbelief. "Really? Thank you!"
Thor chuckled softly, glancing at the ship with a knowing look. Before making the call, he had contacted Odin through the Bifrost. Despite Asgard's medieval aesthetic, its technology was thousands of years ahead of Earth's. The spaceship wasn't just fast—it was imbued with magic, making it virtually indestructible.
Thor had also made another request: a spell to ensure Mjolnir couldn't be stolen. He had a plan for tomorrow, and losing the hammer wasn't part of it.
At dinner earlier, Monica's feelings toward Thor were less favorable. He had consumed enough food for a dozen people, leaving her refrigerator empty and her face green with frustration. But now, she beamed at him, her admiration restored.

In the early hours of the morning, Yon-Rogg stood over the lifeless body of a Skrull disguised as Carol. His expression was cold, his jaw clenched. Gripping his communicator tightly, he growled, "The Skrulls have infiltrated planet C-53. Send reinforcements immediately."
Meanwhile, Thor and the team entered Dr. Lawson's laboratory. The air was thick with anticipation as they approached the center of the room, where a glowing energy core sat suspended in a containment field.
"Is this the Tesseract?" Thor asked, his voice low. The swirling blue energy inside the core was unmistakable. Within it lay the Space Stone, a relic of immense power. Thor's fists tightened as memories of Asgard's future devastation by Thanos flashed in his mind. This wasn't just a mission anymore—it was personal.
In the shadows, Skrulls emerged cautiously. Among them were Talos' wife and daughter, who rushed into his arms with tearful relief. The sight softened the tension in the room.
"We didn't know what else to do," Talos explained. "Mar-Vell warned us not to send any signals, or the Kree would find us. We've been hiding ever since."
Carol's expression shifted as she stepped forward. The fear in the Skrull family's eyes gave her pause. "I won't hurt you," she said gently, her voice tinged with regret. "I'm sorry… I didn't know before."
"Carol, this is war," Talos said, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "None of us are innocent. My hands are just as dirty. But today, you helped me find my family." He bowed his head in gratitude.
He hesitated before continuing, "This is only the beginning. Thousands of our people are scattered across the galaxy, separated from their families."
Their moment of solace was interrupted by the sound of heavy footsteps echoing through the corridor.
"Fraternizing with the enemy, are we?" Yon-Rogg's voice rang out as he entered the lab, flanked by the Starforce team. His cold eyes swept the room, landing on Carol. "What happened to your loyalty, Vers?"
Minerva stepped forward, a sneer curling her lips. "She's been brainwashed."
"The Supreme Intelligence will fix her," Korath added, his voice dripping with contempt.
Yon-Rogg approached Carol, his tone almost condescending. "I trained you to be better, stronger. Everything you are, I gave you. And what I can give, I can also take away."
Carol's body tensed as she felt her powers falter. The connection to her energy source was severed, leaving her momentarily vulnerable.
Before Yon-Rogg could gloat further, a flash of lightning tore through the lab, sending him crashing into a wall. Thor stepped forward, his voice booming. "Am I invisible? Come on, all of you—let's see how strong you really are."
Armor began materializing over Thor's body, each piece fitting seamlessly into place. The thick, black plate armor glowed faintly with Asgardian runes, making him appear even more imposing.
Mjolnir spun rapidly in his hand, generating a swirling vortex of wind and lightning. The storm surged with terrifying intensity, filling the lab with deafening thunder.
Branchal charged first, his iron fists raised. He was immediately caught in the storm and hurled across the room, landing with a resounding crash. He didn't get back up.
The Starforce team hesitated but quickly regrouped as Yon-Rogg barked orders. "Attack! Take him down!"
Thor's smirk widened. "Finally, a real fight."
The Kree soldiers poured into the room, their energy weapons raised, and chaos erupted.
