Chapter 34: Chapter 34: The System’s Explanation Rules
"For the question: 'Compared to the timeline in my memory, has this timeline changed?' the optimal explanation: Yes."
Reading those two simple words, Han Yu was momentarily at a loss for words. Was this some kind of joke? Just a straightforward "Yes"? That was it? He glanced at the magical conch in his hand, feeling it existed solely to mess with him.
"Forget it, whatever," he muttered, tucking the conch away.
Han Yu waved his right hand, opening his personal interface in midair.
[Name]: Han Yu
[Shop Level]: Junior Senior Clerk
[Base Abilities]: Undying Divine Seal, Magical Conch
[Additional Abilities]: None
[Items]: Emotion Potion: Storm Crying ×2, Item Draw Card ×1
[Arsenal]: Hyōrinmaru
[Upgrade Points]: 228
[Points Needed for Next Level]: 60
Seeing the ample amount of upgrade points, Han Yu couldn't help but grin. He'd hit the jackpot.
"System, use 200 upgrade points to exchange for Item Draw Cards!" he commanded.
He wasn't in a rush to level up. Using 200 points to level up would only get him to the rank of a senior clerk. Promotions brought new base abilities, but Han Yu believed it was more worthwhile to exchange points for items instead.
Acquiring new items could significantly boost his power, enabling him to handle future challenges with greater ease. Especially now, with the timeline already diverging from his memories, he needed to strengthen himself as quickly as possible. Who knew what bizarre situations lay ahead?
"If the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Marvel Comics Universe merge, things will really go off the rails," he chuckled, shaking his head. Little did he know, the situations he'd face in the future would far exceed his imagination.
"Exchange complete. You have obtained Item Draw Cards ×2!"
Seeing the three cards now displayed in his inventory, Han Yu's eyes lit up with excitement. He couldn't wait to see what they'd yield.
Without hesitation, Han Yu reached out and tapped the screen. The three Item Draw Cards materialized in his hand. Pulling out one, he placed it in front of him.
Just like when he had drawn the Green Lantern ring, the card transformed into a streak of light that coalesced a few moments later into a small, white, oval-shaped object. It looked like a container. Opening it, Han Yu found a pair of sleek, white earbuds inside.
[Item Acquired]: 'High-Quality Earbuds.' Can connect to mobile phones or computers.
Upon seeing the item description, Han Yu's first instinct wasn't to smash the earbuds but to carefully reread the details. The description indeed confirmed that they were "high-quality earbuds."
Still unconvinced, he tested them out. Listening to some music, he had to admit the sound quality was exceptional—truly beyond compare. After pausing the music, he muttered to himself:
"Connect to someone else's phone… Connect to every phone within a five-mile radius… Connect to every computer within a five-mile radius…"
Nothing happened.
After numerous failed experiments, Han Yu calmly took off the earbuds, only to hurl them to the ground in a fit of frustration. "Earbuds? Seriously? Can't you give me something useful for once? I spent 100 upgrade points on this! System, you owe me an explanation!"
The moment he finished speaking, the system's voice echoed in his mind.
"The explanation for any item drawn by the host ultimately belongs to the system."
Well, there it was—the so-called "ultimate explanation." In other words, whatever the system provided, Han Yu had to accept, no questions asked. Since the system held all the rights to the explanation, all he could do was swallow his frustration.
"No wonder it's called the Miscellaneous Store System. Fine, you win this round. I still have two more cards," Han Yu muttered.
He carefully put away the earbuds. Even if they were just earbuds, they were undoubtedly superior in sound quality, unmatched by anything on the market. That thought provided a bit of solace.
After taking a deep breath to calm himself, Han Yu drew another Item Draw Card and slapped it forward.
[Item Acquired]: 'Universal Smartphone.' This device can connect to all the mobile games the host played in their previous life. However, the host cannot disclose any information about otherworldly elements. As the host's rank in these games increases, corresponding data, including techniques and game development plans, will be unlocked.
"This is a great find!" Han Yu's eyes lit up with excitement.
He powered on the phone and was greeted by a familiar interface in Chinese, complete with familiar controls and apps. A wave of nostalgia hit him, and for a moment, his eyes grew misty.
Suddenly being transported to this unfamiliar world, even though he now had Wanda, Quicksilver, and Ultron around him, there were still times when he felt lonely. This phone, however, brought with it a comforting sense of home.
What truly excited him was the system's note:
"As the host's rank in these games increases, corresponding data, including techniques and game development plans, will be unlocked."
This clearly meant he could revolutionize the entertainment industry on this Earth! Compared to his previous world, this planet's entertainment was dull beyond belief.
"There's no data cable. Does this phone have unlimited battery life?"
Han Yu examined the phone carefully. It didn't just lack a cable; it didn't even have a charging port. How was it powered?
Treating it with utmost care, he placed it gently on his desk. To ensure nothing else touched it, he even cleared the desk entirely, leaving the phone to sit there alone, like royalty. For Han Yu, this phone was now his lifeline for entertainment during downtime.
Now, for the final Item Draw Card.
Han Yu washed his hands, faced east, and clasped his hands together in a mock prayer. Humming the tune to "Good Luck Comes," he activated the card.
The glow from the Item Draw Card was usually a dazzling purple-gold, but this time, it was shrouded in thick, ominous black light—an eerie sight.
The dense black light slowly condensed before him. Judging by its size and shape, this wasn't another earbud or smartphone. Han Yu caught a glimpse of something large, flat on both ends, with a vertical extension in the center.
As the object materialized and began to fall, Han Yu instinctively reached out to catch it.
The moment it landed in his hand, his expression shifted—this thing was astonishingly heavy!
"Wow, this weight… It's definitely no ordinary item!"
Feeling the heft of the object, Han Yu grinned with delight. He quickly steadied his grip, realizing if he hadn't used his strength in time, it might have hit the ground.
As the black light faded, a double-headed hammer was revealed. Its body was jet-black, with a short three-to-four-centimeter handle. The hammerheads were cylindrical and adorned with faint, intricate patterns.
The weapon exuded an almost imperceptible aura of hostility. As soon as it appeared in the room, the atmosphere turned oppressive, making the air feel heavy.
Staring at the hammer in his hands, Han Yu's eyes widened, and his breathing quickened in disbelief.
"This is… the Clear Sky Hammer!"
Could it be that his earlier bow to the east had invoked this? The weapon he'd drawn was none other than the legendary Clear Sky Hammer, famed as the strongest weapon spirit from Douluo Continent!
