Chapter 8: Chapter Eight: The Weight of Power

The alarm went off at 5:00 AM sharp, as it always did. Kaito's body instinctively moved, but something felt off. There was a heaviness in his chest, a strange, erratic rhythm in his heartbeat.

Ignoring the unease, he laced up his running shoes and headed out. The cool morning air greeted him, and he tried to focus on the steady cadence of his footsteps. But with every step, his pulse grew louder, the pounding echoing in his ears.

By the time he returned home, sweat drenched his shirt, and his breaths came in sharp gasps. Brushing it off as exhaustion, Kaito showered and got dressed. He pulled on his tight-fitting black shirt, tan baggy training pants, and martial arts slippers. The outfit felt lighter than usual, as if his body was being stretched thin.

Then it hit him.

A sharp pain ripped through his chest, dropping him to his knees. His vision blurred, and his powers surged uncontrollably. The air around him shimmered with electricity, flames sparked to life, and the very moisture in the air crystallized into frost.

He clutched his head, his mind flooded with chaotic energy. Am I dying?

Kaito's surroundings dissolved into a white void. When he opened his eyes, he was no longer in his apartment.

"Am I dead?" he asked aloud, his voice trembling.

"No," a deep, calm voice answered.

Kaito turned and saw a figure standing before him—a godly presence radiating serenity and power. The being looked at him with knowing eyes.

"Not yet," the figure continued. "But you're close. Your body is collapsing under the weight of your powers."

Kaito's heart sank. "What do you mean collapsing?"

"You hold two powerful forces within you—Toji Fushiguro's body and the combined abilities of Mob Psycho and Sakuna. While Toji's body is strong, it's not invincible. These powers are tearing you apart from the inside."

Kaito clenched his fists. "So, what do I do? How do I stop this?"

"There are two ways," the god said. "The first: relinquish one of your powers."

"No," Kaito replied immediately, his voice firm. "That's not an option."

The god smiled faintly, as if expecting his answer. "Then the second way: seal part of your power into something else. Create a vessel to contain it, leaving you with only what your body can safely handle."

Kaito's mind raced. His body was unraveling, and the clock was ticking. "How long do I have before—"

"Ten minutes," the god interrupted.

Ten minutes to find a solution before his body gave out completely. Panic threatened to take over, but Kaito forced himself to think. Memories of his past life flashed before him—moments of joy, pain, and the stories he once loved.

Then, inspiration struck. He remembered an anime he'd watched before he died: Dandadan. There was an episode where they sealed someone's essence into a toy.

He turned to the god. "Can you create a living teddy cat? One that will only listen to me?"

The god nodded. "Done."

A flash of light appeared, and before Kaito stood a small, plush-like creature—a cross between a teddy bear and a cat. Its button eyes blinked, and its tail swayed gently.

"Seal part of my powers into this," Kaito said. "Leave enough for me to stay active as a hero."

The god raised a hand, and the teddy cat began to glow. Kaito felt a wave of relief as the surging energy within him ebbed, drawn into the creature.

"It is done," the god said. "But be warned—this is only a temporary solution. The balance of power is delicate, and you must grow stronger to handle the full extent of your abilities."

Before Kaito could respond, the white void dissolved, and he was back in his apartment.

Relief flooded him as the pain subsided. The teddy cat sat on his bed, staring at him with an almost knowing look.

"Guess I owe you one," Kaito muttered, sitting down to catch his breath.

Then, an explosion shook the building. The windows rattled, and the air outside filled with screams. Kaito rushed to the window and froze.

The cityscape was in chaos. Buildings crumbled, their structure decayed as if aged a thousand years in seconds. A black mist swirled through the streets, and amidst the destruction stood two figures.

The first was a man with a disheveled appearance, a hand pressed against his face. His red cape billowed in the wind, and a sinister aura radiated from him.

"Tomura Shigaraki," Kaito whispered, dread creeping into his voice.

Beside him, a figure loomed in the black mist. Its glowing yellow eyes pierced through the darkness, watching the chaos unfold with quiet malice.

Kaito clenched his fists. There was no time to rest.
