Chapter 81: Marvel 81
"Resistance is futile," Akainu growled, stepping forward as Marines rallied behind him. "You are all insects beneath the might of justice."
Amid this brutal chaos, the ground itself seemed to quake under the weight of so much destruction. Fires raged unchecked, black smoke rising into the sky and blotting out the sun. The ground was slick with blood and littered with bodies, the cries of the wounded mingling with the clash of weapons and the roar of battle.
Yet even as the Marines pushed forward, the pirates and revolutionaries fought with unyielding resolve. The island had become a living hell, a warzone where survival hung by the thinnest of threads, and no side showed any signs of surrender. The stage was set for the ultimate clash, with Admiral Kizaru and Fleet Admiral Akainu at the forefront, their relentless justice bearing down on all who dared stand in their way.
Max, on the other hand, had already left the island, heading straight toward Mary Geoise. "Time to finish this," he muttered, his eyes cold and determined. His goal was clear: to eliminate the Celestial Dragons, the parasites who ruled from the shadows, and disrupt their grip on the world. For now, he intended to handle this battle alone, giving others the time they needed to reach a level of power capable of standing against such overwhelming forces.
As their ship cut through the waters, the towering silhouette of Mary Geoise loomed closer. Max stood at the bow, his expression unreadable but his aura heavy with resolve. The ship sailed steadily, carrying him toward his grim purpose—the heart of the World Government, where he planned to strike the decisive blow.
Soon, Max reached Mary Geoise, its towering grandeur spread out beneath him. With a single leap into the air, his form shifted and expanded, scales glimmering as he assumed his mighty dragon form. His golden eyes burned with an unyielding fire as his deep, thunderous voice resonated across the sky.
"Let's end this," he declared, his words shaking the very ground below.
Opening his massive maw, Max began to gather an overwhelming amount of energy, swirling with black and green hues that crackled with raw power. The sheer magnitude of it caused the air around him to distort and the skies to darken.
"Nihility Breath!!" he roared, unleashing a thick column of destructive energy from his mouth. The devastating beam surged forward, obliterating everything in its path.
The Celestial Dragons, smug in their untouchable perch, barely had time to comprehend the impending doom. Even the God Army, the elite guardians of Mary Geoise, found themselves utterly powerless against the onslaught. The attack annihilated their defenses in an instant, reducing entire sections of Mary Geoise to ash and rubble.
The beam carved through the city like a scythe through wheat, obliterating structures, monuments, and battalions alike. The destruction wasn't limited to Mary Geoise—its shockwave rippled outwards, leaving nearby landscapes quaking under its might.
Max's power, at this point, was so immense that it could obliterate not just a city but the very foundations of the world if he so chose. The once-proud symbol of the World Government's authority crumbled under his wrath, leaving devastation in its wake. The air was filled with a deafening silence, broken only by the crackling of energy fading from the attack.
As Max hovered over the ruins, his dragon form exuded an aura of invincibility.
Soon, Max landed amidst the rubble, surveying the destruction around him. His sharp eyes caught sight of a shimmering dome, its protective barrier sheltering a group of children. Curious, he approached the dome, nodding in approval as he realized its purpose.
Before unleashing his devastating attack earlier, Max had ensured the safety of all children below the age of five and those still untouched by the corruption of the Celestial Dragons. Using his powers, he had transferred them to a safe location. Now, as he gazed into the dome, he saw around twenty children—the last remaining heirs of the Celestial Dragons.
"The last remnants of their lineage," he muttered to himself, stepping closer to inspect the area. His attention was drawn to several Devil Fruits scattered within the dome, lying untouched. "These must be their prized Devil Fruits," he noted, realizing the significance of the power they represented. "They won't be destroyed so easily."
As he turned to leave, a sudden sense of danger prickled through him. Acting on instinct, Max dodged just in time as something passed through the spot where he had been standing moments ago.
Turning around sharply, his gaze fell on a mysterious figure cloaked in a dark, flowing robe. The being hovered in the air, radiating an aura of power and ancient authority.
"Who are you?" Max demanded, his voice steady but filled with caution.
The figure's voice rang out, feminine and filled with rage. "How dare you destroy my sanctuary of over 800 years!" The words echoed, laced with an unearthly venom.
As the figure descended slightly, her hood slipped back, revealing a breathtakingly beautiful woman with otherworldly features. Her silver hair cascaded like liquid moonlight, and her sharp, luminous eyes burned with both fury and an unspoken sorrow.
Max's gaze locked with hers, intrigued yet wary. "You must be her," he murmured, realizing who this entity might be.
The woman raised her hand, pointing it at the dome containing the children. "Those remnants are all that remain of my design," she said, her tone cutting. "You've destroyed everything else."
Despite her words, Max noted that she hadn't attacked him directly. It was clear she was capable of immense power, yet she refrained, seemingly testing his intentions.
Max nodded slowly, his expression unreadable. "If that's the case, then why didn't you strike me down when you had the chance?"
The woman's lips curved into a faint smile, a mix of disdain and curiosity. "Perhaps you are not as blind as I thought."
As the two stood facing each other amidst the ruins, the tension in the air was palpable. For now, it seemed neither would make the first move, but the weight of their unspoken words hung heavy between them.
