Chapter 8: Chapter 08: RESHIBERU BURST!

Chapter 08: RESHIBERU BURST!

The midday sun blazed down upon the sprawling expanse of UA Academy's sports field, casting long, dancing shadows across the grass. The air was thick with the scent of sweat and anticipation, as the students of Class 1-A prepared for their physical assessments. Aizawa-sensei, ever the epitome of stoicism, stood at the finish line, his dark, unkempt hair casting a shadow over his sharp gaze.

The first test of the day was a race—a simple, yet nerve-wracking sprint that would test the limits of the students' speed and endurance. The participants stood at the starting line, a mix of excitement and dread etched on their faces. Kaminari, with his electric yellow hair shimmering in the sunlight, wore a grin that seemed almost too confident for his own good. Midoriya, his green curls plastered to his forehead with sweat, fidgeted nervously, his wide eyes darting between his classmates. Beside him, Ochaco Uraraka stood with her usual bubbly demeanor, though her eyes betrayed a hint of concentration.

At the starting line, Tensei Iida stood tall, his posture as rigid and disciplined as ever. His cobalt-blue eyes gleamed with determination, a steely resolve evident beneath his rectangular glasses. The wind whispered around him, but it was drowned out by the low, steady hum of his engine-like calves. When he shouted, "RESHIBERU BURST!" his voice cut through the air like a starting pistol, reverberating with a power that sent a shiver down the spine of everyone within earshot.

Time seemed to stand still for a fraction of a second. Kaminari's grin faltered, Midoriya's eyes widened, and Uraraka's breath hitched in her throat. Then, with a deafening roar, Iida launched himself forward. The ground beneath him trembled as his speed reached unimaginable heights, sending shockwaves through the air that tousled the hair of those standing nearby.

Iida was a blur of motion, a streak of blue and white that tore down the track with breathtaking ferocity. His dark blue hair whipped wildly behind him, a chaotic contrast to the disciplined precision of his movement. The force of his acceleration was so intense that it created a pressure wave, bending the air itself and leaving a trail of dust in his wake.

But not far behind, Trafalgar Law ran with the measured precision of a seasoned warrior. His gray eyes were sharp, calculating the distance to the finish line with cold, clinical efficiency. Fifteen meters. That was all that remained.

Just as he prepared to push himself to his limits, a chilling sound erupted from behind him—a mechanical roar, powerful and unrelenting, like the growl of a predator closing in on its prey. Law's eyes flickered, his head turning just enough to assess the threat.

What he saw made his breath catch in his throat. Iida was bearing down on him, the sheer force of his speed creating a pressure wave that threatened to knock Law off his feet. The sunlight glinted off Iida's glasses, and his intense gaze was locked firmly on the finish line. His blue hair was a chaotic blur, his face taut with the effort of maintaining such incredible speed.

Law's mind raced, his thoughts moving faster than the wind itself. His lips curled into a faint smirk as he whispered the word that would change the course of the race: "ROOM!"

In an instant, a shimmering blue sphere expanded outward from Law's position, enveloping the track and extending all the way to the finish line. The air inside the ROOM grew unnaturally still, its boundaries pulsing faintly with a life of their own. But Iida didn't falter. He tore through the ROOM as though it were nothing, his unrelenting speed carrying him forward with a force that defied logic.

Law's gray eyes narrowed as he observed the situation. I can't swap with him—he's moving too fast. But...

His gaze shifted to Aizawa, who stood just inside the edge of the ROOM, arms crossed and expression unimpressed. The solution was clear. Law raised his hand, his fingers curling into a gesture of silent command as he uttered the word that would seal his victory: "SHAMBLES."

In an instant, the positions of Law and Aizawa switched. Law now stood mere steps from the finish line, while Aizawa found himself in the middle of the track, confusion and surprise evident on his face.

Without missing a beat, Law lunged forward, crossing the finish line just as Iida's blazing form stormed past him, leaving a trail of dust and disbelief in his wake.

The sudden reversal left the students dumbfounded, their murmurs of confusion and disbelief filling the air.

"Did he just...?" one of them whispered, his voice trailing off in awe.

"He didn't even run the whole race!" another protested, her voice tinged with frustration.

"This... doesn't feel fair!" a third added, her eyes wide with disbelief.

As the dust settled, Iida came to a stop just past the finish line. His engines sputtered, releasing puffs of smoke into the air as he gasped for breath. Sweat poured down his face, his hair damp and clinging to his forehead. He straightened slowly, his chest heaving with the effort of the race.

Aizawa, now back at the finish line, raised a hand to silence the murmuring crowd. His voice was calm but firm, cutting through the chaos like a knife. "This race is valid. Trafalgar Law: 6.97 seconds. Tenya Iida: 7.04 seconds."

The students erupted into a chorus of complaints, their voices rising in protest.

"How is that valid?" one of them demanded, his voice filled with disbelief.

"He didn't even—!" another protested, her voice trailing off as she struggled to find the words.

Aizawa cut them off with a sharp glare, his eyes narrowing dangerously. "Would you complain if someone used a Quirk that allowed them to fly? These tests are designed to measure how you utilize your abilities. Law used his Quirk effectively. That's the end of it. Next race: Izuku Midoriya and Tsuyu Asui."

Midoriya hesitated as he approached the starting line, his face pale and his hands trembling slightly. Tsuyu noticed his unease and leaned closer, her voice soft and reassuring. "Being nervous will only make your time worse, ribbit," she said simply, her eyes filled with concern.

Midoriya blinked, then gave her a sheepish smile. "Thanks. Good luck!"

Meanwhile, Law approached Aizawa, his usual calm demeanor in place. "Sensei, thank you," he said with a slight bow, his voice filled with genuine gratitude.

Aizawa's eyes narrowed dangerously, a flicker of annoyance crossing his face. "The next time you use me as a pawn for your Quirk, I'll kill you," he growled, his voice low and menacing.

Law's expression wavered for a moment, a rare hint of unease crossing his face. "I'll make sure it doesn't happen again," he promised, his voice steady and composed.

As Iida joined them, his breaths finally beginning to even out, he offered Law a sincere smile. "Your ability is truly remarkable. It would be even more impressive if it didn't have such a limited range," he said, his voice filled with genuine admiration.

Law returned the smile, his gray eyes gleaming with amusement. "I think its limitations are what make it fun," he replied, his voice filled with a hint of mischief.

The two walked back toward the group, side by side, the tension between them replaced by a newfound sense of mutual respect. Behind them, the murmurs of their classmates continued, but the faintest hint of admiration had crept into their voices—a testament to the skill and cunning that had just been on display.
