Chapter 124: Chapter 126
"Stop talking nonsense. Run, or you'll die!" Neji shouted, his voice filled with urgency.
Tenten and Rock Lee, knowing Neji's serious nature, didn't dare to question him. They quickened their pace, following his lead.
It wasn't until they had run far enough that Neji finally stopped, his legs trembling, and collapsed onto the ground, gasping for breath.
"Neji, what's going on?" Tenten asked, her voice filled with concern. Rock Lee also stopped, his brows furrowed as he looked at his usually composed teammate.
This was the first time they had seen Neji lose his composure like this.
Neji took a deep breath to steady himself before replying, "The chakra I saw just now… it was enormous. Those two Rain Ninja, especially the bandaged man, possess chakra levels so deep they're unfathomable. Even Gai-sensei is far inferior to them."
Hearing this, Tenten's eyes widened in shock. "Are you saying… they're disguised Jonin?"
"It's possible," Neji admitted, a grave expression on his face.
"Should we go and report this to Gai-sensei now?" Rock Lee suggested.
"No," Neji refused decisively, his tone firm. "Not yet."
"But why?" Rock Lee was confused by Neji's decision.
Neji's gaze darkened. "Our goal in this Chunin Exam isn't just to pass or become Chunin. I have something to prove. If we report this now, the exam could be canceled, and I can't let that happen."
Rock Lee hesitated before nodding. He knew how much this meant to Neji. Tenten, too, seemed unsure but didn't press the matter further.
From a distance, Kirito, using his Observation Haki, listened to their conversation. A faint smile tugged at his lips.
"So that's the Byakugan. Its ability to see the flow of chakra is impressive," Kirito remarked, his tone laced with admiration. "Truly an incredible kekkei genkai."
Watching Neji and his team retreat, Pakura hesitated before turning to Kirito. "Master Shigure, won't letting them go expose us?"
Kirito chuckled, his expression calm. "It doesn't matter. Keeping things hidden all the time would just make this trip to Konoha boring. Besides, I'm looking forward to seeing the Third Hokage's face when he realizes I, the one who destroyed his clan, am here."
Pakura couldn't help but laugh at Kirito's confidence.
Kirito extended his hand, and three thin chakra threads shot into the air, controlled using the puppet techniques he had learned from Sasori.
In an instant, three startled screams echoed as Dosu, Kin, and Zaku, the Sound Ninja trio, were yanked down from the treetops. The chakra threads wrapped tightly around their necks, choking them.
Dosu clawed at the chakra threads, his voice hoarse as he struggled to speak. "M-Master Shigure… spare us… we're subordinates of Lord Orochimaru."
Kirito raised an eyebrow in mild surprise before loosening the chakra threads. The three collapsed to the ground, gasping for air.
"So, you know me?" Kirito asked, his voice calm but carrying a weight that made the trio tremble.
Dosu nodded quickly, his tone respectful. "Yes, I had the honor of seeing you spar with Lord Kimimaro in Otogakure. Lord Orochimaru spoke of your strength."
He reached into his bag and pulled out a scroll of Earth, offering it with trembling hands. "This is our scroll. Please accept it."
Kirito waved his hand, and the scroll floated to him. He inspected it briefly before smirking. "What's your mission?"
Dosu hesitated, glancing at his teammates before answering. "We were tasked with finding Uchiha Sasuke and testing his strength."
"Interesting," Kirito mused. Tossing the scroll in his hand, he added, "I have a task for you as well."
The trio exchanged nervous glances before Dosu asked, "What would you have us do, Master Shigure?"
Kirito's eyes gleamed with amusement. "At dawn tomorrow, find the pink-haired girl on Sasuke's team. Slap her ten times each. Don't touch the blonde kid, and as for Sasuke, you're free to kill him if you dare."
Dosu's face paled, but he nodded quickly. "Yes, Master Raiun."
With that, the trio retreated, their steps hurried and unsteady.
Pakura finally let out a laugh. "Do you have a grudge against that pink-haired girl?"
"No grudge. She just deserves it," Kirito replied with a shrug, recalling how Sakura's behavior in the anime had irritated him.
By the time Kirito and Pakura arrived at the scene, Orochimaru's confrontation with Team 7 had reached its climax.
Naruto, unleashing the Nine-Tails' chakra, tried valiantly to protect his teammates. However, Orochimaru easily overpowered him, sealing away the Nine-Tails with the Five Elements Seal. Naruto collapsed, unconscious, his body dangling from a tree.
Sasuke stood frozen, trembling with fear, while Sakura knelt nearby, sobbing uncontrollably.
Hidden in the shadows, Uchiha Itachi observed the scene. His gaze was sharp, tinged with disappointment as he watched Sasuke's cowardice. But when Sasuke finally summoned the courage to fight back, Itachi's lips curved into a small, rare smile.
Kirito's voice broke the silence. "Enjoying the show, Raiun?"
Startled, Itachi turned to find Kirito and Pakura standing beside him. His wariness deepened; Kirito had approached without him noticing.
"I see you've been watching your little brother's progress," Kirito teased, his tone light.
Itachi didn't respond, his gaze shifting back to Sasuke, who had just been bitten by Orochimaru, the Heavenly Curse Mark searing into his neck. Sasuke howled in agony, his scream echoing through the forest.
Sakura, overwhelmed, clung to Sasuke, tears streaming down her face. "Naruto! Sasuke is in pain! Help him, Naruto!"
