Naruto: The Tale of an Otsutsuki

Chapter 86: Chapter 86: Life Curry

"Where's Naruto? Why is he so slow..." Tenten complained as she stood at the village gates, waiting alongside Rock Lee, Kirito, and the clients from the Sorrel Gold Mine. They had been ready to leave for some time, but Naruto was nowhere to be found.

While Tenten's patience was running thin, the clients, who were indebted to Naruto for saving their lives, remained silent out of gratitude.

"Don't worry," Lee said confidently. "Naruto will come. I believe in him."

Tenten sighed skeptically. After Naruto's open reluctance about the mission in front of Tsunade, she wouldn't have been surprised if he simply didn't show up. Kirito, on the other hand, stood silently, lost in thought.

If I'm not mistaken, this mission involves that ninja sword… "Thunder." The memory stirred faintly in Kirito's mind, and he realized this event tied into the filler arcs of the original timeline.

"I'm here!" Naruto's voice boomed as he suddenly dropped down from atop the village gate, landing with exaggerated flair.

Dusting himself off, he grinned confidently at the group. "Alright, everyone's ready? Let's go!"

Naruto began marching forward, only to stop after a few steps and turn around awkwardly. "Uh… so, which way do we go?"

Guided by the clients, the group traveled through mountains and forests, eventually crossing into the Land of Rivers. Along the way, Lee suggested they stop at a curry shop near the Sorrel Gold Mine to rest.

"Lee, how do you even know about a curry shop here?" Tenten asked suspiciously.

"It's a long story," Lee replied with a mysterious smile. "But trust me, it's worth it."

Kirito smirked as memories of the original story clicked into place. So this is that curry shop…

He recalled the infamous "Life Curry," a dish so spicy it rendered Naruto and Tenten helpless. Even Neji had collapsed after a single bite, his Byakugan flaring uselessly.

"What's so funny?" Tenten asked, noticing Kirito's faint smile.

"I'm just thinking about how the curry might taste," Kirito replied.

Hearing this, Lee declared confidently, "Believe me, it's the most delicious curry you'll ever have!"

"Delicious, huh? I'm not so sure," Tenten muttered, glancing at Kirito. "Do you think something Guy and Lee love could really be normal?"

"Probably not," Kirito whispered back with a knowing look.

Realizing they were doubting him, Lee protested loudly, "You'll see! This curry is unforgettable!"

Naruto, overhearing the conversation, chimed in, "I believe in Bushy Brows! Let's go eat curry!"

The clients, however, grew anxious as the group joked. One of them, Ryusuke, muttered, "If they keep laughing like this, when will they rescue Kanpachi?"

His companion tried to calm him down. "Ryusuke, it's been so long. We should focus on defeating the Black Spade family. That's all we can do now."

Ryusuke fell silent, his heart heavy with worry for Kanpachi, who was buried alive in the mine. The closer they got to the mine, the more his unease grew.

Noticing the shift in mood, the group quieted and picked up their pace.

Eventually, they reached the outskirts of the mine. Lee's expression brightened as he sniffed the air. "Ah! That smell! It's the curry shop!"

Moments later, Lee dashed forward and scooped up an elderly woman, spinning her around joyfully. "Granny Sancho! Long time no see!"

"Run while sleeping? Dragging boats?" Tenten sighed, shaking her head. "This really is classic Guy and Lee."

After Lee's enthusiastic introduction, Granny Sancho welcomed the group into her curry shop. When she mentioned her "Life Curry," the group grew curious, and she began preparing it for them.

As they waited, Lee recounted his connection to the shop. Years ago, during a marathon training session with Guy, Lee had collapsed from exhaustion near the curry shop. Granny Sancho and her grandson, Kazu, had taken him in and revived him with their Life Curry.

"For me," Lee declared, "this curry isn't just food—it's my lifesaver!"

Kirito, recalling how absurdly spicy the curry was, thought, Only Lee would feel "saved" by something like that.

Granny Sancho soon placed steaming plates of curry in front of everyone. The dark, bubbling dish looked more like a potion than food, leaving everyone frozen in apprehension.

"Come on! This is Life Curry!" Lee said, eagerly digging in. His face turned bright red as he shouted, "Delicious! Just as amazing as I remembered!"

Naruto hesitated, glancing at the curry. "It… can't be that bad, right?"

Encouraged by Lee's enthusiasm, the others cautiously took a bite—and instantly regretted it.

"Ahhhh!" Tenten screamed, tears streaming down her face as she collapsed onto the table. Naruto was on the floor, unable to move.

Kirito, while affected by the intense heat, adapted quickly thanks to his Otsutsuki physique. He handed a frosty glass of water to Tenten. "Rinse your mouth and drink. It'll help."

"Thanks," Tenten muttered weakly, recovering slowly. "How are you even okay?"

"I adjusted," Kirito replied casually.

"I really envy you sometimes," Tenten groaned, shaking her head.

Meanwhile, Lee asked Granny Sancho about her grandson.

With a heavy heart, she explained, "Kazu wanted to become stronger and ran away to join the Black Spade family. I told him to work hard, but I never thought he'd take it this far…"

Hearing this, Lee stood up, his expression determined. "Granny Sancho, don't worry. I'll bring Kazu back!"

Kirito nodded. "Fine, but if he resists, I won't hold back."

Lee understood the implication. If Kazu fought against them, Kirito's overwhelming strength would leave no room for mercy.

That night, as the group rested at the curry shop, Ryusuke slipped out, heading toward the mine alone. He couldn't shake the thought of Kanpachi, clinging to the faint hope that his friend might still be alive.

"Where are you going?" A voice called out, startling him.

Ryusuke turned to see Kirito perched on the curry shop's roof, silhouetted against the moonlight. His pale eyes glowed faintly, as if they could see through everything.
