OH! MY WEI

Chapter 11: The tension

 Chapter 11: The tension

"Me? You're the one who—" she started, but the words caught in her throat as she remember something.

"I'm sorry," Princess Hua apologized, her voice barely above a whisper. Just then, Bao knocked on the door as she wrapped the bedsheet around herself. Wang Wei, still seated on the bed, maneuvered himself down to his wheelchair.

"You are shameless, Your Highness," Wei said, casting a disapproving glance at the princess.

"Shameless? How dare you tell a princess she is shameless? And why are you here, why don't you sleep elsewhere? Moreover, I am your wife!" Princess Hua shot back, her eyes blazing with indignation.

"Really, Princess? This is the General's mansion, not your grand palace. You're my wife? Remember that Just for six months," Wei retorted as he wheeled himself out of the room. Princess Hua glared at him as he left, her anger simmering.

Moments later, the maids entered to assist the princess with her bath. They dressed her in elegant clothes and prepared a breakfast fit for royalty.

"Your Highness, you look angry this morning. Did you and Young Master Wang...?" Chen Xui asked, a teasing smile on her face as she awaited the princess's response.

"I sleepwalked again," Princess Hua replied, her tone dismissive.

"Princess, it's been along time you sleepwalk, maybe because of the stress," Chen Xui said sympathetically.

As they chatted, Mrs. Li, the maid of Madam Feng, approached. "Your Highness," she said, bowing slightly. "It's time to serve Madam Feng and the General tea; they are waiting for you in the hall." With that, she left.

"Princess," Chen Xui urged, glancing at her. "Let's go." Princess said. They made their way to the hall, where Princess Hua bowed to greet General Wang and Madam Feng. She collected the tea from a nearby maid and served her in-laws with the utmost courtesy.

"Princess Hua, you look so beautiful this morning," Haoyu remarked, standing up to touch her face. The princess instinctively moved back, a look of discomfort crossing her features.

"Young Master Haoyu, I'm sorry, but I am married to your elder brother," Princess Hua said firmly.

"Haoyu!" General Wang called, signaling for him to sit back down. "Haoyu, Princess Hua is your brother's wife. Don't do that to her."

Meanwhile, Wang Wei was in his library, sketching mountains. "Bao, look at this mountain; it's similar to the one from the other night," he said, focused on his drawing.

"Yes," Bao nodded, watching his master intently. "But won't you go to the hall? Princess Hua will be serving the General and Madam Feng. Won't they bully her?"

"She will find a way out herself. Isn't that why she wanted to break the engagement? Now she is finally in it," Wang Wei replied, continuing to write, seemingly unfazed.

Back in the hall, Madam Feng spoke up, "Your Highness, I will send some maids to cook nourishing soups for your baby every morning."

"Thank you, Madam Feng," Princess Hua replied, bowing her head in gratitude.

"Princess, when did you and Wang Wei meet to produce that baby?" General Wang inquired, his curiosity piqued.

"We were lovers, as I mentioned in the palace. He broke my heart, which is why I wanted to end the engagement. But on the second day, I found out I was pregnant with his baby," Princess Hua explained, her voice steady.

"Since the princess said that, I believe it," General Wang said, nodding in understanding.

Just then, Mei, who had been passing by the door, spotted Princess Hua and rushed in. "Sister!" she exclaimed, grabbing her hand.

"The idiot is here again," Haoyu muttered under his breath.

"Mei, why are you here?" General Wang asked, instructing a maid to take her away.

"General, Mei and Wei—aren't they your biological children?" Princess Hua asked, her question hanging in the air as everyone exchanged glances, the atmosphere thick with tension.
