"Eh?"
Shanuo, still holding a cloth and wiping the kitchen knife, was momentarily stunned when he heard the sound. He instinctively looked up at the person who had entered.
What appeared before him was an old man in his fifties, with yellow hair and a white cloak flowing behind him, giving off an air of grandeur. What caught the eye the most, however, was his wooden prosthetic leg and the golden mustache split into two braids, tied with a water-green butterfly knot.
Such a distinctive appearance made shanuo almost instantly recognize the person. In a flash of realization, he almost couldn't control his mouth.
"Z-Zepp?!"
The old man with the wooden prosthetic leg and yellow hair in front of him was none other than Zepp, the infamous pirate chef from the One Piece universe, the owner of the Baratie restaurant, and the one who raised Sanji—Red-legged Zepp!
"Hey, kid with the black hair, why are you staring at me like that? You don't want the lobster on the table, do you?"
Seeing shanuo frozen in place, Zepp thought he was hesitating and waved his hand with a hearty laugh. "Young man, don't be so stingy. Food is meant to be shared to taste the best. How could you refuse a guest, right?"
As he spoke, Zepp had already grabbed a small lobster from the plate, sucked it on the shell a little, and then, with a gleam in his eyes, popped it into his mouth and started chewing.
With a crisp crunching sound, the appetizing red sauce overflowed from Zepp's mouth, covering his odd-looking golden mustache. A hint of enjoyment showed on his face.
While chewing, he mumbled, "Mmm, delicious. This kid's cooking skills are pretty good. Much better than that old guy Rururu. This is definitely the best meal I've had in the past few months…"
"Looks like the old man I saw this morning going to look for Uncle Rururu was him…"
Shanuo finally snapped out of his trance. Looking at Zepp, who was eating nonstop, the corner of his mouth twitched slightly before he helplessly shook his head and let out a sigh.
Zepp was a character who had been featured in One Piece quite a bit, so shanuo was familiar with his personality. Since the person who came down from the pirate ship was this guy, there was no need to be overly cautious.
"Hey, hey, hey, yellow-haired old man, I'm not as stingy as you think, but eating my food without asking for permission first is really rude, don't you think?"
Seeing Zepp eat more and more deliciously, after swallowing the lobster in his mouth, he grabbed two more with one hand. Shanuo rolled his eyes and said sarcastically.
"Ah, now that you mention it, I was a bit too hasty," Zepp's old face seemed to turn slightly red. But just as he said his apology, he shoved the lobster in his right hand into his mouth, making his words unclear.
"Do as you wish…"
After helplessly muttering, shanuo sighed again, not in a hurry to ask Zepp anything. He continued to focus on tidying up the messy table.
At this moment, there was a flicker of pride in his heart.
It seemed his cooking skills were indeed good. After all, it was no big deal to impress little guys like Roy and Bill, but to have someone like Zepp, a renowned chef, acknowledge him was no easy feat.
However, this matter was just a small side note. As the blurry timeline of the pirates flashed in his mind, shanuo's expression gradually became more serious. He began to think deeply about the information behind Zepp's visit to the island, and some memories that hadn't crossed his mind for a long time slowly became clearer, a thoughtful look appearing in his eyes.
According to the calendar information he got from the newspaper, this year was the 1511th year of the Sea Calendar. If connected to the storyline of One Piece, Zepp seemed to have just returned from the Grand Line, and the pirate chef crew he had founded would soon meet their demise in a storm.
After this, Zepp retired from piracy and became the owner of a restaurant at sea instead.
In that case…
Shanuo recalled what he saw earlier in the morning, and a thought crossed his mind.
The little boy, who seemed to be only eight or nine years old, brought by Zepp, could he be Sanji?
It seemed quite likely. Both the timing and age were a perfect match…
Boom!
Just as he was thinking this, the door of the wooden house slammed open, and a loud cheer rang out from inside, shaking shanuo's thoughts:
"Ha ha, done!"
"Hurry up, or the lobster will get cold!"
The footsteps grew closer, and then the three little boys, led by Anderson, came running out from behind the door. As soon as they saw shanuo from a distance, they proudly showed off their wet hands and eagerly rushed to the table.
"Lobster!"
Drooling from their mouths, they each grabbed a lobster as soon as they reached the table. Just like Zepp, they didn't bother to peel the shell, took a bite, and shoved it into their mouths.
"I'm eating now!"
Once the meat entered their mouths, a sense of satisfaction surged within them. Only after finishing the lobster did the three little boys breathe a sigh of relief, coming to their senses after being lost in the deliciousness.
When they looked up, they found that Zepp, who was also enjoying his lobster, was making eye contact with them.
"Eh?"
"Who's this! Why is he eating our lobster!"
"Hey, you old bastard, put down the lobster!"
After a moment of surprise, Roy and Bill's faces turned red in anger. They rushed over, waving their little fists, trying to snatch the lobster from Zepp's hands.
However, Zepp only chuckled, casually blocking a few punches with his free hand, easily confusing the two little boys. They couldn't even get close to Zepp and had to back off, gasping for breath.
"Dammit!"
Roy stamped his foot angrily, forgetting to wipe his nose. He was about to charge again when just as he took a step forward, a small hand reached out and stopped him.
It was Anderson, who had been frozen in place since seeing Zepp.
"Anderson? What are you doing? Don't you see this old man stealing our lobster? Hurry up and join me to chase him away!"
Roy, confused, glared at Anderson and angrily said.
However, Anderson ignored him, turned to look at Zepp, scratched his little head, and asked in confusion:
"Zepp, weren't you supposed to stay at my house for dinner? Why are you here with shanuo?"
"Ah ha, it's you, the little brat from Rururu's place."
Zepp seemed to have recognized Anderson long ago, but had been too busy eating lobster to acknowledge him. It wasn't until now that he reluctantly put down the lobster, rubbed Anderson's head with a smile, and laughed heartily.
"Dinner is of course still on, although your dad's cooking is terrible, I'll still honor my old friend's face."
As if he hadn't noticed Anderson's increasingly darkening expression, Zepp smiled, his lips curling upward, and continued:
"As for why I'm here, first, I was drawn here by the smell of the lobster, and secondly, of course, to complete the task I came to Andrik Island for…"
His gaze shifted, landing on the confused shanuo, and he tugged at his long mustache, grinning:
"It's you, huh, the bastard named shanuo."
