Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Primordial Flame
Orion, lost in a reverie, muttered to himself: "Hmm... should she get that?"
Beside him, Lyra, who usually maintained a lazy tone of voice, showed a rare interest. She knew that her husband never did anything without a hidden purpose. Despite his carefree behavior and how he seemed to toy with the Empire, he always had deeper intentions. Many of the greatest geniuses of the Empire had their destinies pulled from the "river of Destiny" of the Multiverse by him, and, not even with her power as the Embodiment of the Void, Lyra could foresee those destinies. For her, this only confirmed that Orion had achieved mastery of the Embodiment of Destiny itself.
Watching Orion's thoughtful gaze, Lyra noticed a glint of amusement in his eyes, something that made her focus even more on the meaning of what he called "that".
Then Orion spoke the words, each syllable charged with power and intent: "Pyralis, Goddess of Cosmic Fire, I, Orion, Primordial God of Creativity, Reality, and Desires, use my authority to create 'this' and grant you that which you have always desired but could never achieve."
Pyralis stood silently for a moment, taken aback by the proposal. Despite her impetuous spirit, she felt an ancient and overwhelming aura emanating from the place where she stood, something that made her hesitate. It was as if the very space around her whispered to her flames, drawing her in with a powerful and subtle force. ---jump She walked through the hall of the ancient palace, her burning eyes scanning the inscriptions on the walls, trying to decipher the meaning of the glyphs. However, even with all his knowledge, those symbols remained indecipherable, pulsing with an energy so ancient that it seemed to transcend even the time of the gods.
Taking some time to think about the purpose of these two strange Gods, Pyralis looked at them for a moment and walked towards the man who called himself Orion, and that was a sign of accepting what that being told him he would give.
Together they went to a part of the castle, with Orion humming in front and the two women behind.
Upon arriving at a gigantic black door with red details, Orion shows a smile as he opens the door and makes a 'come in' sign to Pyralis and stops Lyra at his side.
"What you want is there, the only thing left to know is whether you accept to enter" comments Orion
"..."
Pyralis looks at the two and without hesitation, enters through the doors.
"..."
As she entered, in the center of the hall, a majestic altar stood, made of an unknown material that reflected her flames like a mirror, but at the same time absorbed their brightness.
A small object rested on the altar: a sphere enveloped in a subtle purple glow, adorned with softly shimmering runes.
Pyralis felt an irresistible urge to touch the sphere, but a sense of caution crossed her mind. Despite being the Goddess of Cosmic Fire, something about this place made her hesitate.
"What kind of power is this...?" she muttered, cautiously reaching out toward the sphere.
As she touched the cold, mysterious surface of the artifact, a torrent of energy invaded the hall, filling it with a blinding glow. Pyralis felt the power flow through her, joining with her flames and expanding them to unimaginable levels. Her vision blurred, and when she refocused, she found herself on a different plane.
Before her was a vast landscape of fire, but not ordinary fire, it was the 'flame of the cosmos', alive and dancing, surrounding her with an almost palpable intensity. In the middle of this sea of flames, a colossal figure appeared. It was a woman, with features similar to Pyralis's, but carrying an ancient presence, an infinite essence, as if she were the Primordial Fire itself.
"Pyralis..." The figure's voice reverberated like thunder. "You have found your way to me."
Confused, Pyralis tried to make sense of the situation. "Who are you? And how do you know my name?"
"I am the Primal Flame," the figure replied, with a smile that seemed to hold eons of wisdom. "The fire that gave birth to the universe, the power that consumes and renews all. I am the force behind every star and every cosmic explosion."
At this revelation, Pyralis realized that her own power was but a fraction of the true power of fire. Humbled and yet reverent, she knelt.
"I have always believed my power to be absolute," Pyralis admitted, her pride softening for the moment. "But now I see that there is something much greater."
The Primal Flame reached out and touched her forehead. In an instant, Pyralis was flooded with knowledge and power, visions of the past, present, and future intertwining in her mind like a cosmic tapestry.
"Use this power wisely, Pyralis," the Primal Flame said. "You now carry the true flame of the universe in your heart."
Back in the real world, Pyralis slowly rose to her feet, her eyes burning with new power. She felt as if she could shape reality itself to her command.
Pyralis stood still, absorbing the immense power that now burned within her. It was as if every flame within her was in tune with the primordial energy of the universe, pulsing to the rhythm of creation and destruction. Around her, the hall now seemed a mere echo compared to the vastness she had just witnessed.
Orion and Lyra waited outside. When she noticed the new gleam in Pyralis' eyes as she left the hall, Lyra gave a small smile, and Orion inclined his head slightly, as if recognizing something he had long expected.
"I see you found what you were looking for," Orion said, with visible satisfaction.
Pyralis felt an urge to question him, to ask what he really intended with that power, but something in his posture made her hesitate. Instead, she simply nodded, her gaze now carrying a mix of gratitude and distrust. She knew that Orion was more than he seemed, and that this "offer" certainly came with his own intentions.
"What you gave me is much more than I imagined," Pyralis confessed, his voice filled with reverence. "This power... it does not belong to just anyone."
Orion smiled, with that enigmatic glow that intrigued Lyra so much. "The Primal Flame chooses those who understand it. Through me, it gave you a choice; you accepted it, and now the universe will see the new flames you carry."
Lyra approached Pyralis, her words soft but full of meaning. "Pyralis, remember that this power is both a blessing and a responsibility. The flames you now carry are bound to a purpose far greater than any empire or pantheon."
Pyralis nodded, understanding the depth of Lyra's warning. It was clear that the gift of the Primordial Flame was both a challenge and a burden. There was a reason why Orion, even as a Primordial, did not use this power for himself. What fell to him now was to use it wisely and reverently, shaping the cosmos with the responsibility that true fire demanded.
She lifted her head, determined. "I understand. I will live up to that trust, and I will take the Flames of the Universe wherever they are needed, creating and transforming with every step."
