Chapter 744: Chapter 723 ( Attack on Verbergen - XIV )
"Come to think of it, I think this is a good time to be able to kill them all, taking advantage of the fact that they're fighting in a remote location" - said Yue with boredom - "Then we can move on to part two of the plan and end this farce."
"You have a point" - nodded Tio as she narrowed her eyes - "Come on, besides, we can always put an illusionary barrier in the area to make it look like we're still fighting while enjoying some relaxation time."
"Sounds like a plan" - Yue said as her red eyes glowed with mischief.

"Is the next trap ready?" - The lion leader asked.
"Not yet" - replied a lion soldier while shaking his head - "It will take us a few more minutes before we can be ready to fight."
The lion leader frowned before letting out a sigh - "I guess we'll have to do it the old fashioned way."
"There they are!" - Demon exclaimed.
"Shit, they showed up earlier than planned!" - The lion leader exclaimed before ordering his subordinates to hide while he and a small group remained as bait.
"What are they doing here alone?" - A demon asked with a huge feral grin on his face.
"Have you forgotten that we caused all those deaths of your allies just a few minutes ago?" - The lion leader asked as his allies began to laugh disdainfully.
"You!" - roared the demon while his companions looked at the demons with hostility.
"Don't be angry, you were the ones who brought this on yourselves" - said the lion leader disdainfully - "I mean, you guys could have ignored us, couldn't you?"
The lieutenant who had arrived was gritting his teeth.
"Did I strike a nerve?" - The lion leader asked, though his expression changed slightly because he could hear the sound of footsteps coming from all around them, which meant they were being surrounded, though this was strange, after all, the other lionmen should be fighting to the death or at least facing the demons so they could escape.
"What's going on?" - The lieutenant asked as he smiled slightly - "Are things not going as you planned?"
"What did you do?" - The lion leader asked apprehensively.
"What do you mean?" - Asked the demon army lieutenant.
"Wait, you didn't attack my companions?" - The lion leader asked in surprise.
When he heard these words, the demon lieutenant began to sense that there was something fishy about all this.
"My lord, there is no noise in the area" - said a demon soldier while looking around.
"¿?" - the lieutenant remained silent, though his expression changed to one of surprise because he didn't hear the sound of his soldiers either - "What's going on!"
Those present were silent because they did not understand what was going on.
"Shall I go and see if there is anything strange in the area we have been through?" - A soldier asked as he raised a hand.
"Go" - said the lieutenant, although both he, and the lions saw how the soldier bumped into something invisible - "Huh?"
Another soldier ran over and knocked carefully, only to see a barrier materialize for a few seconds.
"You put up a barrier?" - The lieutenant asked as he looked at the lion, though this didn't make sense because he knew that demi-humans didn't have a huge magical affinity, with the exception of a few, such as Kitsune for example.
"Do you really think it was us?" - The lion leader asked with disdain, though his expression changed to a cold one because it was obvious that someone had set the two of them up.
"Aren't you'll fighting? You much more civilized than I thought" - said a female voice.
"!" - the lion leader recognized the voice immediately - "Impossible! You said that if we fought with our lives on the line, we could get out of this place alive!"
"That was Cloud, I didn't say anything" - Yue replied as she appeared in front of the demons and lions.
The demons felt an enormous thrill at the sight of the beautiful blonde girl, though at the same time instinctively something told them that it wasn't a good idea for them to approach a rose like them, after all, she had lethal thorns covering her body.
"We had a deal!" - roared a lion as he watched the girl lick her lips - "I knew we didn't have to trust a dirty vampire!"
"Vampire?!" - exclaimed the lieutenant in terror - "Impossible, you all died centuries ago!"
"It's a pity that I'm the only survivor" - replied Yue neutrally as she shook her head - "Anyway, it's time for us to end this farce."
"Do you want help?" - Tio asked as she stepped out from behind a tree.
"No, I'll handle this" - Yue replied as she shook her head, only for after a few seconds, screams of terror and mercy echoed through the place, though no one could hear them because the barrier blocked all sounds.

"What!" - exclaimed the general of the first unit as he pounded the desk while feeling his blood begin to boil - "How is it possible that no one informed me of the disappearance of so many soldiers!"
"My lord, we thought they were going to reconnoiter the area!" - The soldier exclaimed in fear.
"Did you guys not see how that asshole tried to go after those animals!" - roared the general as he released some of his mana from the enormous fury he felt - "Didn't anyone find it strange that he decided to go investigate along with a huge part of our military forces!"
The soldier bit his lip as he trembled - "No, sir!"
"Useless! Bunch of useless fucks who can't think for themselves!" - roared the general as he ripped the soldier's head off - "I want a squad to go check the status of our troops, if they're dead, I want to see their corpses, and if they're alive, I want to see their fucking asses in front of me as soon as possible!"
"H-Hai!" - Another soldier exclaimed in fear as he ran to give the general's orders.
"I'm working with assholes!" - roared the general.
"Possibly" - replied a male voice.
The general felt everything around him freeze as he slowly looked in the direction of the voice, seeing how an unfamiliar man was sitting in his seat - "Y-You..."
"My name is Cloud Strife, it's a pleasure to meet you for these few minutes" - Cloud said as a small smile appeared on his face - "I have come to inform you of what will happen in the next few seconds, so at least you will know the reason for your death when you get to hell."
The general tried to say something, though he couldn't because the words got stuck in his throat.
"I know, you have a lot of questions, but I don't have time to answer them, so I'll get straight to the point" - Cloud said calmly as he stood up from his seat and shook his head - "I'm sure you want to know why I'm telling you this, well, the answer is simple, I don't like people not knowing why they died, I mean, everyone deserves to know about their fates, don't they?"
The general nodded weakly.
"Well, the situation is this, your leader decided to sacrifice your small group in order to get Verbergen with as little sacrifice as possible" - Cloud said calmly as he walked next to the general and looked at him coolly - "As for why I say this, it's because if I were to enter the battlefield, I would end up eliminating at least 80% of the demonic army with the help of my group."
"Y-You're the one who prevented our attack on the human realm!" - The general exclaimed as he understood who the person in front of him was.
"Well done, you figured out who I am with just a few words" - Cloud replied as he smiled slightly - "Too bad there's no prize!"
The general let out a small, weak laugh because now the blond's words made much more sense - "Did you really sacrifice us?"
"Being honest, your group itself, was already a sacrifice" - Cloud replied as he shook his head - "After all, this squadron is made up of all the demons who oppose Cattleya's rule."
"I see, I was a glorified sacrifice" - said the general as he laughed weakly - "It makes sense why no one came to our support when the rabbits attacked us."
"Now that you know everything, do you have anything else to say?" - Cloud asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"No" - replied the general as he drew his sword.
"Do you want to fight?" - Cloud asked with surprise.
"No, it's not to fight" - replied the general as he used his own sword to pierce his heart - "Ugh... it's to have a dignified death..."
Cloud was silent because he didn't expect something so honorable from a demon.
"E-Everything is... for my people..." - muttered the general as he vomited blood - "And if my death serves to stabilize my people... then I will accept it with open arms..."
Cloud shook his head as he walked over to the demon and pulled out a poison he had mixed. He quickly administered it to the demon so he wouldn't feel any more pain, after all, this was the only thing he could do from someone so honorable.
