Starsea Fleet: Age of the Lord

Chapter 199: Chapter 199: The Rescue

After contemplating the situation, Feng Mo spoke to Han Peipei over the video feed. "Inform Hua Qin to dispatch another T4 Scorpion, and let Ai Er know to send reinforcements from the Snow Eagle Empire: a T5 Pegasus-class interstellar missile ship, five T5 Fleet Steeds, and two T5 Mystic Birds. The rest of the fleet remains stationed in the Snow Eagle System."

"Yes, Commander!" Han Peipei responded with a firm salute.

With that, Feng Mo turned his gaze back to Chen Wei, tapping his fingers rhythmically on the armrest, a sound that seemed to echo ominously in Chen Wei's mind, stoking his fear. Feng Mo wasn't sure of Chen Wei's command skills, but anyone able to survive and recognize him so quickly had to be a shrewd individual—albeit one with an apparent fear of death. Feng Mo mused that perhaps Chen Wei could be useful, though not in any substantial way.

With this in mind, Feng Mo looked at Chen Wei and asked, "Would you like to serve under the Storm Fleet?"

Hearing this, Chen Wei's eyes lit up with relief and gratitude, and he immediately bowed his head, kowtowing repeatedly. "This lowly one, Chen Wei, is eternally grateful to you, my lord, for sparing my life. I pledge to serve you faithfully, without a shred of hesitation."

Feng Mo, unfazed, knew well that Chen Wei was adept at flattery, but he didn't believe a word. He'd likely only say whatever was necessary to save his own skin.

After waiting roughly two hours, the second T4 Scorpion arrived and joined the first, moving toward the coordinates Chen Wei had provided. The Storm God and the Paladin, accompanied by the T5 Bay-class interstellar supply ship, began a steady journey toward Moss Planet.

Along the way, Chen Wei talked nonstop, seemingly afraid that Feng Mo might change his mind and execute him. He shared various pieces of information, all in an attempt to prove his usefulness. Though most people in the Starsea Human Federation had heard of Feng Mo's name and reputation, Chen Wei's firsthand experience made him even more fearful.

"My lord, the Sairen System is a small star system. Moss Planet, situated on its southeastern edge, is classified as a secondary life-supporting planet. The interstellar mechanical fleet reportedly took over this area to build an interstellar fortress."

The news made Feng Mo wary. Were they building a fortress here as a defensive measure—possibly against him? But Feng Mo hadn't intended to push any further westward for now. Expanding the empire's territory too quickly would only stretch the Storm Empire's resources thin. Supporting the current fleet of over ten thousand ships was already near the limit of their budget.

If the fleet continued to grow rapidly, the empire's finances would spiral into debt, something Feng Mo had no intention of allowing. Despite its rapid growth, the Storm Empire still lacked the deep-rooted foundation of the millennia-old empires and ancient families—a shortfall that Feng Mo fully acknowledged.

Right now, his best course was to build up his strength quietly and wait for the Federation's internal conflict to reach a tipping point. Only then would he move in to seize control.

Moss Planet, a vast desert world blanketed in yellow sands, had a large oasis at its center, shielded by a thin, blue energy dome. This protective dome was a small, easily deployable energy shield developed by the Federation, capable of regulating temperature, seasons, and weather, and protecting against natural disasters.

In the oasis's heart was a luxurious palace, where a towering woman over two meters tall was imprisoned. She wore a black combat suit, her pale skin contrasting sharply with her platinum-blonde hair, giving her an ethereal, almost sacred appearance. However, her wrists and ankles were shackled with electronic cuffs, and she sat inside a cage of electrified bars, her head bowed, making her face difficult to see.

Nearby, two mechanical beings bombarded her with questions, though she remained silent, refusing to respond.

A third mechanical being, sitting nearby, finally spoke, "Esteemed Star Spirit Princess, allow me to introduce myself. I am Roller, Supreme Commander of the Mechanical Fleet's Second Division. From what I understand, your people are currently embroiled in a war."

He paused, then continued, "Your sister-in-law exiled you. Don't you want revenge? Just tell us where the T7 interstellar energy seed is, and we'll make you a promise—a promise to help you become the Star Spirit Queen."

The imprisoned princess finally lifted her head, revealing an extraordinarily beautiful face. She looked straight at Roller and replied, "Release me, and help me exact revenge. In return, I'll give you a T6 interstellar energy seed."

Roller laughed softly. "No, no, a T6 energy seed isn't enough. You know the Interstellar Mechanical Race is one of the largest species in the universe, with a heritage as noble as yours. To place you on the throne, we'd need to deploy a T7 fleet, and I lack the authority to request that. Only a T7 energy seed could convince our homeland to send such a fleet. I'm sorry, Princess, but your offer falls short."

"My offer's value isn't for you to decide," she replied coldly. "And I do have a T7 interstellar energy seed. However, I don't trust you—or your kind."

"A pity, then," Roller sneered. "I suppose you'll just have to stay here. Who knows? Maybe someone—perhaps even your sister-in-law—will be interested in buying your life for a T7 energy seed."

With that, Roller turned and left, leaving her alone.

At this time, the two T4 Scorpions had reached Moss's spaceport and transmitted footage of the planet's defenses and fleet positions back to the Storm God.

Feng Mo reviewed the footage, nodding in acknowledgment. Everything matched what Chen Wei had said. Moss Planet's defenses consisted only of T3 systems—insufficient to pose any threat to the Storm God or the Paladin. The real threat was the twenty T5 mechanical battleships stationed nearby, though they weren't a significant concern.

"We hold the advantage of surprise. Both T4 Scorpions should take position for optimal bombardment and destroy the enemy spaceport at the start of the battle. The Storm God and Paladin will fully charge their T5 cluster annihilation cannons and all primary and secondary guns."

Having issued his orders, Feng Mo waited for the T4 Scorpions' report.

"My lord, the T4 Scorpions are in position and ready for bombardment. Awaiting your command!"

"Advance the fleet," Feng Mo ordered. "Once both sides are within radar range, the Storm God and Paladin will immediately target the twenty T5 mechanical warships. Open fire as soon as possible. The T4 Scorpions can commence their assault."

Just as Feng Mo's words fell, explosions erupted over Moss Planet, the blasts lighting up the sky. As the Storm God and Paladin entered the enemy's radar range, their targeting systems locked onto the T5 mechanical warships without further instruction and began firing.
