Chapter 209: Chapter 209: Unexpected Moves!
The battle lasted half an hour, but cleaning up the battlefield took over four hours. Feng Mo looked at the humanoid tree before him, feeling a bit troubled. Did he really need to wait here until it matured?
Sensing Feng Mo's hesitation, Xing Shuwen, standing behind him, spoke up, "Lord, this humanoid tree can be moved. It seems the Mechanical Clan commander chose not to, thinking it was almost ready. By my estimate, it will fully mature in about half a month."
Feng Mo nodded and turned to Han Peipei. "Get the machinery ready. We're uprooting it and bringing it back to the Beast Roar System."
Han Peipei chuckled, placing a hand on her forehead. She had a feeling he'd say that.
After securing the battlefield, Feng Mo returned to the control room of the Storm God. Han Peipei reported from behind, "My Lord, we've annihilated 1,974 enemy Mechanical ships, including 632 T5-class battleships."
Feng Mo nodded, then addressed the captain of the Fleet Steed. "Prepare for jump."
"Star space stable, coordinates set, core power steady—Fleet Steed standing by for warp!"
The Fleet Steed's hull radiated a brilliant energy matrix, casting dazzling blue beams to form a massive stargate in the vastness of space.
"Let's go!"
At Feng Mo's command, the fleet passed through the micro-warp gate, vanishing from sight.
They needed two jumps to return home. After the first jump, Feng Mo instructed the Fleet Steed to pause for ten minutes before initiating the second. Though the jump ship had no official cooldown, excessive use could shorten its lifespan. With only one jump ship, Feng Mo cherished it.
Upon their return to the main base in the Snow Eagle System, Feng Mo logged into the StarNet. As he reviewed the footage of the battle, he debated whether to upload today's video of the Storm Fleet decimating the Mechanical First Fleet with the jump ship. After a moment's hesitation, he decided to go ahead. With his position consolidated, he felt confident facing whatever response the Federation might have, anticipating that they'd be more inclined to ally with him than oppose him.
He also had a backup plan. The Spark System shop offered a relatively inexpensive technology, the Spatial Interception System, priced at 10,000 points. Though Feng Mo couldn't afford it just yet, he intended to purchase it as soon as his next mission was completed. This technology would allow him to create spatial interception devices, similar in function to the warp interdictors along the Northern Sky Gate to the Black Tortoise Fortress route. Although only T5-level, there were higher levels up to T9, which he could eventually research or purchase.
As expected, the video upload—despite being late night on Snow Eagle's main world—sparked a sensation across the Starsea Federation.
Anticipating a flood of contacts, Feng Mo had Y temporarily block all incoming messages, then dialed up a video conference with Chu Yunjian, Hua Yucheng, Master Qiao, and General Gu Jun.
(Note: Different planets would naturally have time differences and varying day lengths. However, for simplicity, this story assumes a 24-hour day across the board.)
Despite the late hour, all four of them were already dressed and prepared, seated in front of their screens. Only Chu Yunjian's background showed a starship's command center, making it clear to Feng Mo that she was en route to Snow Eagle.
"Uncle Gu, Master Qiao, Yunjian, Yucheng—I trust you've all seen it by now. I've developed warp technology and built the Federation's first T5-level warp-capable ship."
"My intent is to share this technology, but to prevent leaks to the Anti-Human Alliance or the Frost Snow Federation, I'll hold off on a public release. I'll send you each a copy of the technology file, along with one to the Federation's Starship Design Bureau—don't worry, it'll be fully encrypted."
The four of them struggled to contain their astonishment. Only Chu Yunjian, looking fondly at Feng Mo, managed a composed expression. Initially, she had been irritated after hearing from Ai Er about Feng Mo's new, statuesque companion. She had planned to confront him but now reconsidered, thinking a reward might be more appropriate. He'd mentioned wanting to try a "waterfall and heavenly staircase" style before, something she hadn't agreed to—but perhaps tonight she'd surprise him with a yes.
Master Qiao spoke first, his tone steady. "My Lord, under your leadership, the Storm Empire has been thriving. Though the Qiao family is a top-tier clan in the Tianqi Empire, we can't sway the empire's course."
"If you're willing, my family would gladly act as your foothold in Tianqi. Alternatively, we could relocate entirely to the Storm Empire. I'd even pledge two-thirds of our assets to support your nation."
Master Qiao's loyalty was evident, and Feng Mo, after some thought, replied, "I believe the Qiao family's continued presence in the Tianqi Empire would be more beneficial. That way, you can aid the Storm Empire's expansion down the line."
For some reason, Feng Mo felt a natural aversion toward the Yue family in Tianqi, viewing them with distrust. If the Qiao family were to leave, the Yue clan would dominate entirely—a scenario Feng Mo would never allow. While a move by the Qiao family would undoubtedly bolster the Storm Empire's power in the short term, he saw greater long-term value in their strategic placement.
Following Master Qiao's pledge, Hua Yucheng offered a similar commitment. Feng Mo politely declined their relocation offers, preferring that the Hua and Chu families strengthen their alliance to secure dominance over the Radiant Empire.
The Storm Empire's might was undeniable, with a powerful fleet bolstered by a vast array of specialized starships, making it la force that few within the Federation could match.
