Chapter 3: Orange town
Chapter 3:
The small ship drifted aimlessly across the sea. Luffy was lounging at the front of the boat, staring at the horizon with his ever-present grin. Zoro was fast asleep, snoring softly, while Roy leaned against the mast, his new blade, Kurogane, resting at his side.
"Any idea where we're headed?" Roy asked, breaking the silence.
Luffy shrugged. "Nope! But we'll find something fun, I'm sure."
Zoro grumbled in his sleep. "Wake me when there's a fight."
Roy sighed, gazing out over the water. Suddenly, the Sign-In System chimed in his mind.
Location: Orange Town
Sign-In Available
Do you wish to sign in?
Roy's eyes lit up. "Looks like we're coming up on Orange Town," he muttered to himself. He mentally selected Yes, and the system responded.
"Congratulations! You have signed in at Orange Town and earned the following rewards: Elementary Observation Haki and 10 Fairy Beans (healing items that can restore you to peak condition instantly)."
A warm sensation flooded Roy's mind as a new awareness awakened within him. He could now sense faint presences around him, including Zoro and Luffy's distinct energy signatures. He smirked. "This will be a great help".
Welcome to Orange Town
As their ship approached the shore, the trio spotted a lively port town. However, it was eerily quiet—shops were shuttered, and the streets were empty.
"Something feels off," Roy said, his Observation Haki picking up faint movements in the distance.
"Let's check it out!" Luffy said cheerfully, jumping off the boat.
As they walked into the town, a figure darted out of a nearby alley. A young woman with short orange hair and a mischievous grin was running with a large sack slung over her shoulder.
"Out of my way!" she yelled, barely glancing at them.
"That must be Nami," Roy thought.
Seconds later, a group of rowdy pirates chased after her, yelling angrily. "Stop, thief! That's Captain Buggy's treasure!"
"Captain Buggy?" Zoro said, his interest piqued.
Roy turned to Luffy. "Looks like we've got some trouble to deal with."
Luffy cracked his knuckles. "Sounds fun!"
The trio followed the commotion to a plaza where Nami had cornered herself. The pirates surrounding her sneered, raising their weapons.
"You've got nowhere to run, thief!" one of them barked.
Before they could strike, Luffy leaped into the fray, his Gum-Gum powers sending the pirates flying.
"Who the hell are you?!" one of them shouted, scrambling to his feet.
"I'm Monkey D. Luffy, and I'm going to be King of the Pirates!" Luffy declared, grinning.
Zoro stepped forward, drawing his swords. "And I will be world's strongest swordsman".
Roy unsheathed Kurogane, the blade gleaming in the sunlight. "Let's make this quick."
Nami watched in shock as the trio easily dispatched the pirates.
Just as they finished, a booming voice echoed across the plaza.
"So, you're the ones causing trouble in my town!"
Everyone turned to see a clownish figure with a large red nose and a wicked grin. It was Buggy the Clown, flanked by more of his crew.
"Captain Buggy!" the pirates cheered.
"Who's this joker?" Roy muttered.
Buggy glared at them. "You dare mock the great Buggy? I'll blow you all to pieces!"
He raised his hand, and a massive cannon was wheeled into the plaza. The fuse was lit, and the cannon fired a devastating shot.
Roy sensed the cannonball's trajectory with his Observation Haki and yelled, "Luffy, dodge!"
Luffy stretched his arms and slung himself out of harm's way, leaving Zoro and Roy to deal with Buggy's crew.
Roy leaped into action, slicing through pirates with precise, fluid movements. His Observation Haki allowed him to predict their attacks, making him nearly untouchable. Zoro, meanwhile, was cutting down enemies with his three-sword style, a whirlwind of blades.
Nami, impressed by their strength, decided to help by sabotaging Buggy's cannon.
"Let's see how you like this!" she muttered, lighting a fake fuse and setting it back in place.
Buggy, enraged, used his Chop-Chop powers to attack Luffy directly. "You can't hurt me! I'm invincible!"
But Luffy wasn't fazed. He grabbed Buggy's torso and slammed it into the ground.
"Your head might float, but the rest of you doesn't!" Luffy said, grinning.
Roy and Zoro joined in, overwhelming Buggy with coordinated strikes. Finally, with a combined attack from all three, Buggy was sent flying out of the plaza, landing in a heap.
With Buggy defeated and his crew scattered, the town erupted in celebration. The townspeople emerged from hiding, thanking Luffy, Zoro, and Roy for saving them.
Nami approached the trio, a sly smile on her face. "You guys are pretty good. I might stick around—for now."
Luffy grinned. "Join my crew! We're going to the Grand Line!"
Nami rolled her eyes but nodded. "Fine. But only because I need a ride."
Roy chuckled. "Looks like we've got ourselves a navigator."
With their new ally aboard, the crew set sail once again, the horizon promising more adventure. Roy could feel the power of his Sign-In System growing, and he knew this was only the beginning.
