After the wyvern closed its eyes again, some time passed. Then a small figure crawled out of the ground.

That was none other than Alexis who had managed to survive by wisely using a magic item to bury himself inside the ground as soon as he noticed that the wyvern was waking up.

Without this magic item which belonged to his grandfather from his mother's side, Alexis would definitely have died here.

But even after barely surviving this situation, he was unable to relax as the Wyvern was still very close to him and his life was still in danger.

So without getting too worked up, Alexis continued moving forward while hiding his presence and he was extra cautious.

Fortunately nothing bad happened this time around and Alexis was able to get out of the Wyvern's sensing range.

After this traumatic incident where he came face to face with death, the mind of this 9 year old boy was feeling extremely tired. He really wanted to end this expedition right now to go back to his mother.

But Alexis knew that doing so would be bad for his future and for his beloved family. So he forced himself to move forward with the determination to do whatever it takes to get out of this place alive while accomplishing his goals.

Alexis continued his journey while maintaining his cautious state as currently he was in the deepest part of the danger zone and many super strong monsters were in this area. So if he lost his concentration for a moment, there was a high possibility that his life would end then and there.

But fortunately for Alexis, he was able to get past most of the troublesome monsters by properly scouting his routes and using his small body to travel through areas which were not very wide so the big monsters were unable to go there.

Just like that, after two days, he was finally able to reach the centre of the Fallen Dragon Wasteland where the blood of the ancient dragon was supposed to be.

But then Alexis faced his biggest obstacle yet.

At the centre of this danger zone, there was a lake. But instead of water, this lake was filled with magma.

There was a small mass of land at the middle of the magma lake and Alexis was guessing that the remains of the dragon and his blood might be there.

But to reach that small piece of land, Alexis first needed to find a way to traverse the magma lake. But unfortunately his grand father did not have any item that was able to help him with this.

Alexis' mother was looked down upon by everyone in the baron household. Actually she was married to the baron only because Alexis' grandfather and the previous baron had some sort of agreement.

So just after the previous baron died, Alexis and his mother were sent to live in a half broken outer house located at a corner of the baron's mansion.

The mother and son were provided with only minimal amount of necessities and nothing else. They were more needy then even beggars.

For that reason, the last five years had been extremely hard for Alexis and his mother. Alexis went to a nearby forest to hunt small animals and collect wild fruits and berries regularly. Without that, both the mother and son's health would have taken a turn for the worst.

The only valuable things that he and his mother had with them were the items that his grandfather had left behind. That man had collected all these items while he was working as an adventurer.

All the items that Alexis had brought with him to this expedition were a part of that collection. But none of the items were useful for him in crossing the lake filled with magma.

But after coming this far, giving up was not an option. So Alexis started to investigate the whole area to find an alternative way to reach the island in the middle of the magma lake.

The temparature of this area was extremely hot so even the special robe that lessened the heat considerably was reaching it's limit. After some time, Alexis started to feel extremely tired.

He only had a little bit more water left on him, so if he could not find a way soon, he would be forced to return empty handed or even die here in this godforsaken place.

After a little bit more investigation, he came up with an idea. For some reason Alexis was not aware of, this core area of the danger zone did not have any large monsters. There were a few fish like monsters in the magma but as they were not coming out of the lake so Alexis was safe for the time being.

But that would not be the case for much longer as Alexis' plan involved these fishes who were evolved to withstand the extreme heat of the magma. Actually as these fishes were quite large, he was planning to make a boat from the fish body parts to cross the magma lake. It was a very dangerous plan but Alexis was unable to come up with any other way.

So to start his plan, first he needed to hunt down a few of these fish monsters. Fortunately these fish monsters did not have a strong defence and with some effort even Alexis was able to kill them.

As for how he knew about this, one of the fish monsters saw him and tried to pull him to the lava lake. At that time, he quickly used his grandfather's sword to hack at the fish.

This sword did not have any special abilities but it was made with a special metal, which made the sword very durable and sharp. So after slashing the fish for ten times or so in desperation, Alexis found that it was already dead.

This was actually very dangerous as during this process he was pulled very close to the lava. His hand that was holding the sword actually got burnt and it was hurting a lot as the fish itself was very hot.

For the time being, Alexis decided to wrap a cloth soaked in a medicinal fluid as a form of fast aid. He did not have anything else to treat himself with.

So as he had already managed to kill one of the fish monsters, he was confident in killing more. But if a swarm of them attacked him at once, then he would definitely be pulled to the Lava lake. So first he started to search for fish monsters who were alone.

After finding one such fish monster, Alexis used himself as the bait. He had nothing else that could be used for this purpose so he had to take this risk.

The fish monsters were carnivorous and a catch like Alexis was extremely tempting to them. So most of the monsters took the bait and after a few hours, Alexis had managed to get his hands on seven dead lava fish monsters.

This amount was enough to create a big enough boat that would be able to carry him. So without wasting any time, he got to work.

Even though Alexis had managed to get the needed material, it did not come at a low price. This time Alexis was more methodical and targeted the weak spot of the fishes to kill most of them in one or two strikes.

But one of the fishes was more tenacious and before dying, it had managed to strike Rein with its head. That was not a fatal strike but some of Alexis' bones were broken. So currently his whole body was in a lot of pain.

But still, he endured all the pain by gritting his teeth and somehow managed to make a boat-like structure. He had used a special glue like substance to attach the heat resistant parts of the fish monster together and was planning to use the sturdy sword as his oar.

Rein traversed the lava lake with the boat very slowly. Now that he was in the middle of the magma lake, if he faced any danger and the boat suffered an accident, he would definitely die by falling in the magma.

The heat was already unbearable and Alexis was sure that without this magic robe, he would not have lasted even a single second in this super hot lake. But he did not gave up and continued enduring all the heat while going toward his destination.

He only traveled through area where no fishes were present on the surface. Any of the fish colliding with the boat would flip it over, so he was very careful about it.

So even though it took more time and Alexis had to suffer for a longer period, he was able to reach the island in the middle of the lake without suffering an accident.

In the middle of that island, just as Alexis had expected, he saw a pool of blood. There was also a few fangs and scales.

One might be suspicious if this blood really belong to the ancient dragon but as soon as Alexis saw the blood, a primordial hunger appeared in his body. So he had no suspicion about the authenticity of the blood.

Then with a heart full of expectation, he touched the blood with his hand. Immediately Alexis felt a burning sensation that was more painful than anything he had ever experienced before.

But at the same time, his body started glowing in a crimson light and a diagram appeared on his back. The blood from the pool was also absorbed inside him and the inscription of a dragon appeared in one of the circles of the diagram.

But Alexis had already fainted in pain. And he has no idea about this.

Now what was going to happen with him ?
