The God of calamity’s wife book 2: return of the 13th

Chapter 10: 10- another blood bond

Saoirse woke up in a hospital bed and Aksel had a grave look on his face she couldn't place. He was about to leave when she woke up.

"What is wrong? I'm sorry I fainted I really didn't mean to….." she trailed off.

"You're pregnant. How can you still be pregnant." He said to himself, shaking his head in disbelief and disgust."

"What?" She exclaimed surprised she felt her belly and it didn't like being touched.

"I need to know where is the father?"

Aksel thought long and hard about what to say. Should he say that he killed the father? No clearly Sirius was also alive somewhere and it was just a matter of time unless...unless we mate her ourself and claim those babies as ours. She won't know the difference our species are practically the same. His beast inside of him said nastily.

He had to woo her.

Aksel lowered his head and said, "don't be alarmed but I am the father."

"Come with me I will show you my beast, you must know what you carry….."

"You? But I'm not really attracted to you?" She said beginning to get up. "I don't understand."

Aksel got angry- "yes me! You and me we loved each other before you died ok?!"

Saoirse didn't understand but she decided to cooperate. "Alright. You can show me your beast later. But I feel dizzy right now. Please leave me to nap a bit."

Aksel nodded.

The next morning, Sirius lay in bed for a while, staring at the ceiling as fragments of the nightmare from the night before lingered in his mind. Something about it felt too vivid, too real, as if it were more than just a dream.

He mulled over the strange images. They weren't his memories—he hadn't been in the war. Were they from before his death? A flicker of doubt nagged at him. Loki had warned him that the gods didn't want Mistletoe to exist. That was why she was supposed to be called Maeve.

But if Maeve needed a false name, why didn't he? Had the gods not minded his existence back then?

His thoughts wandered to Maeve. Could the images in his nightmare be something she'd done? He tried to picture her as the bloodthirsty figure he'd seen. It didn't fit. She was a Huldra, a forest spirit who drew strength from the earth and sunlight. He often saw her meditating in the sunroom, the light glinting off her face, her glowing green eyes alive with energy.

That was something he admired about her—not in a romantic way, but in a quiet, unspoken reverence. She was beautiful in her simplicity, her strength rooted in nature, not violence.

Sirius got up and undressed to take a shower. He turned on the water and stepped into it, feeling the warmth on his face for a bit, closing his eyes and then ran his fingers through his hair to wet it before getting some shampoo onto his hands. He turned around, the water now hitting his back and lathered up his hair and face. The rhythmic sound of water hitting the tile floor.

As he rinsed it, he suddenly was hit with an aura of a blow to his face and was thrown back into the ceramic tiles of the shower.

Pain shot through his body as if invisible claws raked across his chest. He gasped, his hands searching for wounds but finding none. Yet the sensation persisted—sharp and unrelenting, accompanied by a wave of fury that wasn't his own.

What is this?!" he yelled, his voice echoing in the confined space. Panic gripped him as the room seemed to close in,

His breath quickened, and a strange, primal energy surged through his veins. He felt himself fighting back, slashing his claws through the ceramic walls.

He caught a glimpse of himself in the fogged-up mirror beyond the shower door. His reflection wasn't his own—it was something monstrous, his eyes glowing red, his features distorted by rage.

"No… this isn't me," he whispered, clenching his fists. The mist receded as suddenly as it had appeared, leaving him trembling under the spray of water.

Was this Taz?

"Gaaaaaaaa!!!!!!" He yelled, as breaking through the adrenaline, a deep slash appeared across his face. His blood seeped through his fingers as he grasped his eye which had been cut.

Maeve heard him yell and came rushing into the bathroom and found him covered in blood and holding his face.

She stepped back in horror, mixed with the water running over him, the scene looked a lot worse as blood was splattered all over the bathroom.

"What happened???!!!!" She shouted in horror. She tried to reach out to him with her hands to help him stand up, but he slashed at her with a talon-like hand, warning her to stay away. She backed up.

"It's too much!!!!!!" He said gnashing his teeth and his fiery eyes glowing red as he looked her direction. His eye couldn't see anymore, but the bleeding had slowed, he took his hand away from it, no longer feeling as much pain as before.

He crouched trying to stand and turned off the water and put on a bathrobe when he noticed that Maeve had seen him naked.

That hadn't happened before, and it would have made him blush, but he just covered himself in frustration. The robe was white, which didn't go along well with the mess around him, but would be ruined, but he didn't care.

Whatever he had just gone through, he now felt a power surge running through his veins and his muscles bulged stronger.

He was finished healing now from his wounds and that's when he noticed Maeve on the floor of the bathroom crying.

"Hey." Sirius said calmly coming up next to her to sit down by her, "I'm ok now, it's ok."

She shook her head at him and backed away from him a bit. "I can't be with you like that, you're too scary. It was like you were a demon just now."

He backed away a bit from her when she said this. It hurt him somehow in the depths of his soul. Then he put his fingers gently on her chin, turning her face to look at him, ignoring the attraction it caused him, "mistletoe, I love you, I am so sorry to have scared you." He leaned in and kissed her forehead gently.

She grasped him around the back, ignoring how it made her feel as well, and just let herself cry onto the blood soaked bathrobe. For the first time when touching her, instead of wanting to lust after her neck, he was able to push through that and feel her sadness.

Then the two of them just felt sadness and guilt and shame at scaring her and at being scared, and at the confusion.

He hugged her a while longer until she sighed calmly. When he realized that the hug had made her feel better, he let her go.

"Thank you Sirius, I needed a hug so badly, and not being able to touch you all day long has made it all build up inside. I was thrown into this marriage like I don't even understand what a blood bond is. Why would anyone want to feel each others feelings like that?"

He thought about it a bit and the only thing that came to his mind was the raw power he had experienced after winning some unknown battle he had gone through just now.

Then it dawned on him! He exclaimed loudly, so suddenly that it made Maeve jump, "Maeve it's a blood bond! It has to be!"
