The God of calamity’s wife book 2: return of the 13th

Chapter 11: 11 like him or not

A few months had passed since Saoirse and Aksel had met and they had worked diligently to bring to submission 5 packs.

They were driving to a new territory along I-29 when they hit a checkpoint that humans had put in place.

It was very common to find checkpoints along the highway either to enter a human town or a werewolf settlement. So Aksel lowered his drivers side window and presented and Identification card showing his face, listing him as the Alpha of the north Wales and the Hungarian territories and Saoirse handed her Identification listing her as the Luna of the Reykajavik, the Eastern Fjord, and the Abisko territories.

The human at the gate was instructed not to allow werewolves into the territory of the local pack, so he would normally turn them away, but seeing their high status and their hair full of some very high status beads, he faltered.

"Please state your business coming into our territory." He said instead. Trying to sound like it was something he asked all of the time.

"We have business with the Pembrokeshire pack. We are here to meet with the Alpha." Aksel said authoritatively.

"I will contact my upper command, it will take just a moment I hope you understand that with the war we are having a high security lockdown recently." The man said.

He took out his phone to call the general that oversaw the area, and Aksel suddenly took the phone, and pushed the button on the side, switching it off. "We do not need to inform them of our arrival. We are here to search for someone, the Alpha knows we are coming I'm sure.

——-

The alpha had heard word of her progress, it was unusual for a wolf to progress through so many packs and to defeat so many alphas in such a short amount of time.

So far, they had not only defeated Alphas, they had killed them as well. Many of them were from different bloodlines than him, but with the war raging on, they were closer than ever in the upper ranks.

"The Alpha Slayer has arrived at the gates, my lord. We need to find a way to get her out of our territory." One of his generals said to him. In the end, the man at the gate had not needed his phone, he had gone to open it hastily, not wanting a confrontation with these two and in doing so also pushed a button, alerting the upper command of the intrusion.

Those in the inner circle of the Alpha had gathered to have a meeting on the matter.

"That crazy woman, what is she trying to achieve?! We are already at war! Why won't she take her energy out on vampires!!!! He said slamming the table."

"I've heard that she is looking for someone and has methodically searched amongst the prisoners as well, but they never seem to find them.

She has killed many of them when she determined them to be of more violent tendency.

Personally, I am more concerned about her advisor, he tells her every move to make and he is ruthless. I've even heard that the alphas that have been killed were killed by him after she had left the area."

"Is he available to speak with?" The Alpha asked, "I would like to know what his plan for our territory is." He decided.

"If he is using her as a mercernary, then ultimately the decision will come to him.

Perhaps we can convince him to come to a truce as we have done with the humans. If not, we can involve the gang, they are getting tired of kidnapping. I'm sure a little action would excite them."

"I'm sure she will try to challenge you if you don't surrender." His advisor warned him.

He waved his hand. "I am much stronger than those other alphas, the great Timodeus would hate to come against me."

His advisor made a phone call and a member of the gang that Sirius had faced recently answered the phone.

"This better be important, I had a rough night." A rugged voice said into the other end of the phone. He seemed hungover a bit by his tone of voice.

"The Alpha has asked you to meet with him." The man spoke.

He sighed, "Fine. But I'm ahead on my quota this month of vampires, so I'm not going to bring more, at this rate, we aren't able to provide strong ones because they are running low on men. If you're wanting more to hunt, I suggest waiting for them to grow up a little." He said. "Then he added. "However, I recently have had my eye on one that joined the police force."

"It's not about your quota, he has a job for you." He said, "we expect you here in an hour. Then he hung up the phone.

The highway ended and they exited it onto a road that had only one lane. On either side was cornfields. It led to a small city of just around 85,000 people.

It was split into 5 different areas with cornfields separating them and each area varied, but had around 15,000-17,000 people each. The buildings at the city center were old and many unoccupied. There was one hotel and so they pulled up and found a parking space and each grabbed a suitcase and headed to the reception desk.

The man behind the desk was sitting, reading a book when they entered and he set it down and stood up.

"Hello, good afternoon, how may I help you two?"

"We would like a Deluxe Suite." Aksel said.

Saoirse didn't think that it was very necessary to get a deluxe room, but Aksel always wanted to show what their status was, and they had a lot of money from each pack they had ownership of, so she just let him choose.

"We have a deluxe King suite on the top floor if that works," the man said showing them a pamphlet that had several pictures of the room.

"Do you have one with two beds?" Saoirse asked. "We aren't a couple." She added.

The man looked and said, "I do, here, one with two queen beds, does that work?"

Aksel took a look and showed a bit of annoyance at the appearance of the different rooms.

"The king is better." He said to her, "It has a hot tub. I'm sore from driving."

"Do you have queens with hot tubs?" Saoirse asked politely.

The man looked and said, "No I'm sorry, the king is the only one."

Saoirse looked at the price difference and the king was $100 more. "The queens should be fine." She said to Aksel, you can go for a swim in the pool, they have a hot tub there don't they?"

The man nodded, "of course, we have the biggest pool in town actually, we are very proud of it."

Saoirse thought that was a good deal, "Thar shouldn't be a problem." She said. But Aksel was bothered by the idea of compromising.

"No, I think we will take the king." I like to have privacy. I'm tired." He said. And handed his credit card to the man.

The man looked back and forth between the two of them, and then said, with tax that would be $156.24 and proceeded to swipe the card.

Saoirse got to the room first and when she saw it, she exclaimed, "This one is very nice!"

It had a dark grayish and brown color scheme with a tv on the wall, a small kitchenette, and a hot tub in the main room. The bathroom had a waterfall showerhead and the shower was made of glass.

On either side of the bed there were night tables that attatched to the wall like a floating shelf. The headboard was a beautifully carved oak, stained dark brown.

When Aksel got to the room, he slumped down onto the bed to take a nap. Saoirse sighed.

"I told you last week I don't want to sleep together." She said.

He ignored her, "It's fine" he said through the pillow. "It's not like it matters, you said we aren't a couple right? So why does it matter?"

Saoirse held her belly.

One thing was certain her babies were inside an egg. It was spiky and flung spikes in self defense when she was harmed. This made her invincible while pregnant and it didn't matter if she was fighting or not.

She had never heard of such a thing but it made her quite the ferocious she wolf. This Aksel used her a lot to gain sympathy with her growing figure and then she would strike.

Aksel didn't ever show his beast to anyone but her, and he was a panther dragon like creature of the night and huge. If she would be raising 6 of them as he told her, she would need him unfortunately like him or not.
