Chapter 9: 9-saoirse faints
The pack transformed into wolves, the hunting group totaling 250 of the members of the pack collectively ran out into the forest, leaving the confines of the city walls for the first time in a while.
Many panted hard in the cold night air as they excitedly ran through the gates and into the trees.
It wasn't often that they spotted a vampire spy in the forest, so they didn't get to leave very much. The majority of their training consisted of sword fighting and duels between each other. Underneath the city there were also vampire prisoners of war provided to them to hunt that every once in a while would be released, but they were kept slightly starved to keep them from escaping and killing them was much easier than a wild one like this.
Saoirse ran with the other wolves, feeling the breeze in her hair, her new beads glistening in the moonlight. Aksel ran alongside her, he was a black wolf and was surprisingly agile for being so nerdy. His claws gripped the dirt and pushed off as he kept up with her, running fast.
The wolves smelled the air as they ran, searching for the vampire that had been nearby.
Saoirse found him hiding inside of a log. His smell once again taking on the familiarity that she connected with.
"He's in there." She whispered to Aksel.
"Let's go get him!" He said excitedly. "He's a grown man. You can get a lot of beads for this!
"I told you, I want to make sure he is bad first. It's not like he is my dinner or something. I'm not a murderer." She said back to him firmly.
Aksel pursed his lips a bit and thought about it. "Well, it's something that the pack expects you to learn to do." He said.
"Can't we take him as a prisoner of war?" She asked, "don't I get beads for that?"
"I suppose so." Aksel said. "It's not like I can catch him myself, so you can do it however you want." He shrugged.
She snuck up to the log. The vampire had a strong sense of smell and good hearing, but a werewolf's was better. She crept up stealthily and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. He screamed suddenly and tore his shirt to get away. He began running at incredible speeds and Saoirse ran after him like a wolf after a bunny.
"Use your ice!" Aksel yelled.
She opened her mouth and blew cold air at him, freezing the forest in his pathway and creating a wall, blocking him. He scaled the wall using his momentum and nearly escaped. She was amazed he could climb so high, it was as if he had gone up a rock wall without even using his hands.
She shot at him with icicles and a few struck his right leg, making him lose his balance and speed and he fell down off of the wall, attempting to catch himself, but unable to.
Saoirse was using her moon magic incredibly, Aksel watched in awe as she surrounded him in a box of ice and trapped him there. He pounded on the frozen glass, cracking it in one blow. His leg was still bleeding from being shot at. The ice had shattered the bone. But it began closing up as quickly as it had been injured. He began to climb using his claws to get out of the box.
"Saoirse, you have to kill him, he's getting away!" Aksel yelled.
"No I can do it!" She yelled back.
She pulled out a bottle of water from ber bag and threw it at the vampire man. It shattered and water splashed him. Then Saoirse shackled him in ice freezing his feet to the ground firmly.
Out of nowhere, one of the Generals came up behind her and shot at the vampire with a gun. He didn't get hit but was knocked out by the ice box shattering and a chunk of thick ice hit him hard in the head. He fell down and the general prepared himself to shoot the vampire again in the head.
"Wait!!!!" Aksel exclaimed, running over to stop the general from firing. The gun went off and shot Aksel in the foot.
"What are you doing boy!! Are you a fool!!!??! Get out of the way!" The general yelled in anger.
Aksel was bleeding a lot from the wound, and clenched his hand to his ankle as the general passed him and aimed once again at the vampires head.
"No sir! Saoirse doesn't want to kill him!" Aksel yelled.
The general stopped and looked at Saoirse who was frozen in shock.
"IS THAT TRUE?!" The general yelled at her.
"I…." She said, unsure how to respond. It wasn't really that she didn't want to kill him, she just wanted to capture him long enough to interrogate him or something first. Find out why he was here.
The general grabbed her by the hair and threw her at Aksel's feet.
"If you hesitate on a situation like this, you will die!!!" The general yelled.
He threw the gun at her and it hit her in the chest hard. It was more of a shotgun really. "You shoot him yourself! We are in a war!"
But then saoirse fainted.
