Chapter 12: THE FALL
As the team stood together, shielding Everstay, a tense silence fell over them. Their backs were pressed against one another, their shields raised high, but the weight of the imminent danger hung heavily in the air. Everstay's brow was furrowed, his mind calculating their next move.
The Torrak,The creature was relentless, but Everstay knew that there had to be a weakness, something they could exploit. His hand went to his quiver, pulling out one of his specialized arrows. But instead of nocking it as usual, he pulled out his bullet
With swift precision, Everstay removed the arrowhead, his movements fluid and practiced, and slid the bullet into place. He pulled the string back, his focus narrowing on the Torrak's chest, right where its runes glowed faintly. The team watched him, not sure what he was about to do,but they all trusted he would do whats best for the team.
Everstay's voice was steady but filled with urgency. "I'm taking the shot. Cover me." He aimed the bow, as he found the small gap between the monster's sinewy frame, where the runes pulsed weakest. It was a tight shot, but Everstay's hand was steady. He pulled the bowstring back as far as it would go, then released it with a sharp twang. The bullet flew through the air, cutting through the space between them and the Torrak in a blur.
As the bullet made contact, the Torrak screeched in pain. It was a sound so deafening, so primal, that it shook the very ground beneath them. The creature staggered, its massive body lurching as the impact from the bullet caused its glowing runes to flicker violently. The fire it had been spewing ceased immediately. The air seemed to cool, and for a brief moment, there was silence.
"Take out your bows and arrows, guys," Everstay ordered, his voice calm but tinged with the weight of their mission. His eyes narrowed as he quickly reached into his bag, pulling out another bullet. He checked his supply, noting that there were only three left. His heart sank. It was a limited resource, but they had no other choice. The bullets were their only hope against the Torrak's impenetrable defenses.
"Only three left," Somi muttered as she counted them along with him, a worried frown tugging at her lips. "Are you sure we can take it down with just this?"
"I know," Everstay replied simply, his voice carrying a sense of quiet determination. He passed one of the bullets to Sparrow, one to Grayworm, and kept the final one for himself. The team stood in perfect synchronization, each member understanding the gravity of the situation. There was no time for hesitation.
"We're going to shoot straight for the runes," Everstay instructed. "Once it's vulnerable, you two—Omega and Somi—focus on its vital points."
Somi raised an eyebrow, "Like its eyes and heart?"
Grayworm, ever the sarcastic one, chuckled under his breath. "Is there any other vital point we don't know of?"
Somi's gaze sharpened, and she shot back, "I don't know… maybe we should use your body to Check if there's any." Her teasing remark made the crowd laugh, and the comments section exploded with amused reactions from the viewers.
Silentknight91: "Somi has got jokes!"
Shadowempress: "Grayworm always gets roasted."
FanofFighters: "This team is so much fun to watch!"
Everstay just smirked, as he began
His voice cut through the banter, bringing them back to the task at hand. "Focus, everyone. The Torrak is coming. This is it."
The ground trembled as the Torrak let out a low growl, its gargantuan form charging toward them once more, its glowing runes flickering brighter with each thunderous step. The team braced themselves, weapons raised, ready for the final push. The Torrak was nearly upon them, but they were ready.
"Focus fire!" Everstay shouted as the Torrak barreled toward them. In an instant, the team released their arrows simultaneously, sending a volley of arrows straight for the creature's weak spot—the runes that glowed faintly on its chest. The arrows hit with precision, striking the runes one after another, and the Torrak let out an ear-splitting screech as the runes began to crack under the force of the blows. Its entire body seemed to tremble with the impact.
As the Torrak staggered back, its massive body shuddering, Everstay, Sparrow, and Grayworm didn't hesitate. They drew their bows again, shooting at the creature's eyes, its heart—every vital point they could target. Each arrow hit true, finding its mark with unerring accuracy.
But then, suddenly, the Torrak stopped.
A deathly silence fell over the battlefield. The only sound was the distant wind rustling the leaves and the faint creaking of the Torrak's massive limbs. Its eyes, once burning with rage, were now closed. Its great chest rose and fell slowly, but it did not move. It was as if time itself had stopped.
The crowd was silent, their collective breath held in suspense. On the commentary screen, Ye Qiu's fingers hovered over his keyboard, his mind racing to process what had just happened.
"Is it… dead?" Sparrow whispered, his voice barely audible.
The team stood frozen, staring at the Torrak's massive form, unsure of what was going on. Its chest rose with shallow breaths, but there was no more movement. No more screeching. The once furious monster had gone still.
The commentary echoed, "And it seems… the Torrak has finally been subdued. After taking multiple hits, it has gone still. The team's precision and coordination were extraordinary. It's unclear if the Torrak is truly dead, but it has certainly been incapacitated."
Everstay exhaled slowly, his hand still gripping his bow, eyes fixed on the motionless creature. He didn't relax, not yet. The battle wasn't over until he saw the Torrak fall.
"Stay alert guys " Everstay said quietly, his voice just above a whisper. "We don't know if it's completely gone yet."
But the silence lingered. The Torrak's eyes remained closed, and it didn't stir. Slowly, the team began to lower their weapons, still wary but relieved. The fight was far from over, but for now, they had won.
Commentator Speech:
"And there you have it, folks! The Torrak, a beast of unimaginable strength, has been brought to its knees by our heroes. The precise shots to the runes and the expert teamwork displayed were nothing short of breathtaking. As we watch this incredible team in action, one thing is clear: they are a force to be reckoned with. Will they emerge victorious against the final threat, or will there be more surprises?"
